West Ham United's Taty Castellanos has revealed that he had the opportunity to join River Plate early in his career.
The Argentina international appeared on a stream with Lagusneta and Teo D'Elia to talk about some topics.

The striker arrived in Europe for the first time when Verona signed him from New York City FC in 2022. A year later, he left the La Liga team to join Lazio permanently. He spent over three years with the Serie A team before Nuno Espirito Santo's side signed him in January.

The South American club approached the 27-year-old when he was his assistant to Mattias Biscay. His first term was between June 2012 and December 2022. He returned to River Plate again in August 2024 as assistant to Marcelo Gallardo.

"My friends from Mendoza and my brother are all River Plate fans, they were driving me crazy trying to get me to join them," He said.
"I also spoke to Biscay, Gallardo's assistant. This was six months before Gallardo finished his first stint at the club."
Why didn't Taty Castellanos join River Plate?
According to La Pagina Millonaria, after losing Julian Alvarez to Manchester City, River Plate tried to sign the attacker in the summer of 2022. In the same window, the Argentine club sold Enzo Fernández to Benfica.
These two deals significantly improved their financial position, but reports now claim that River Plate refused to meet New York City's $15m [€12.7m] price. Therefore, he ultimately did not join them.
Taty Castellanos has two goals in nine appearances for West Ham in all competitions. He has a contract until 2030, with the option of a further year, but has been linked with a move away from the Hammers.
