Dallas Cowboys ‘thought’ they made a trade for Pro Bowl pass-rusher

Jerry Jones has never been afraid to make a big deal. The Dallas Cowboys have proven this time and again. Whether it's a record-setting contract extension or trading their best player a week before the season starts, the Cowboys aren't afraid to be bold.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys are still looking to replace the pass-rushing production that Micah Parsons was known for. That could change this offseason. Obviously, the Cowboys have already tried.

According to ESPN's Trey Wingo, the Cowboys "thought" they completed a trade for Maxx Crosby last night. Nevertheless, the Las Vegas Raiders backed out after receiving several other offers, including a first-round pick, for the five-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher.

Wingo reports that the Cowboys now plan to sign Trey Hendrickson in free agency, where he won't have to part with any draft compensation.

"Things are moving quickly regarding Max Crosby. Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal, but since then other teams have stepped up the excitement and potentially offering the Raiders 2nd round pick, hopefully Dallas will now turn their attention to Trey Hendrickson."

If Wingo's report is accurate, it means the Raiders are indeed not only willing to trade Crosby, but they may also be close to making a deal. Previous reports indicated that a Crosby trade could be conducted as soon as "this week."

While the Cowboys appear to be trading out Crosby, other teams are apparently willing to break the bank for the 28-year-old sack artist. The Raiders have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but they will likely gain another first-round selection because of the Crosby trade. Perhaps that selection could be an attempt to replace Crosby.
