Mitchell is listed as probable against the Celtics, meaning it seems likely he will return from his absence. Kenny Atkinson said Mitchell was fully involved in the Cavs' latest practice, and it looked like he was on his way back soon.
The Cavs probably wanted to be careful with Mitchell's injury, especially since it was a soft tissue injury, but if he didn't feel good, they wouldn't put him back on the court.
Injuries have piled up for the Cavs at the moment, and that's to their key players. James Harden has a fractured right thumb, but he has found a way to deal with it, and likely won't notice it until his season is over. Keon Ellis also has a fracture in his finger and despite this he is playing.
