Bobby Portis says Giannis returned ‘up in the air’

The Milwaukee Bucks got back into the loss column with a home loss against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night, with Giannis Antetokounmpo out of the lineup as he deals with his calf injury. Antetokounmpo recently returned to the court after a long injury absence, while rumors continue to swirl about his future in Milwaukee.

Recently, Antetokounmpo's teammate, power forward Bobby Portis, stopped by FanDuel's "Run It Back" show, and he gave a cryptic response when asked about his confidence level that the star will return to Milwaukee next season.

"I'm on 5, right in the middle...it's up in the air," Portis said, according to X, formerly of Run It Back, on Twitter.

This is certainly not a ringing endorsement of Antetokounmpo's future prospects in the city where he won a championship during the 2021 season.

Many speculated that the Bucks would end their time with Antetokounmpo at the recent NBA trade deadline, as it became increasingly clear that this year's iteration of the team was far from real contention.

However, the team opted to keep the star ahead of the deadline, although whether this is a sign of a long-term commitment or simply a decision to wait until the summer when teams will be able to make a more attractive offer for him remains to be seen.

Some have encouraged the Bucks to keep Antetokounmpo out of the lineup for the rest of this season in hopes of acquiring a better draft pick, though clearly, the star himself is not included in those plans.
