The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a loss in their latest game against the Atlanta Hawks, and their star player also suffered an injury at the end of the fourth quarter. Tyrese Maxey collided with his own teammate, causing him to fall to the floor, and it looked like his hand was injured as he walked off the court writhing in pain.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, many wanted to know how serious the injury was, and it seemed likely that he would miss a few games before returning.
"The 76ers say Tyrese Maxey has a right hamstring injury and will miss at least the next two games," Siegel, formerly of the Ax, wrote on Twitter.
This is good news for the 76ers as it doesn't look like he'll miss much time, but it also isn't the best news given his current situation. Joel Embiid will be out for at least another week with an injury, and VJ Edgecombe has recently been sidelined with an injury.
Needless to mention, the 76ers have been without Paul George as he is still serving his 25-game suspension.
This means that over the next few games, the 76ers will have to rely on their depth to help them win. The 76ers' next game will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers, against whom they have not had much success. After this, things get easier in the game as they face the Memphis Grizzlies.
The hope is that Maxey won't have to miss any more games after that as the 76ers fight to stay atop the Eastern Conference standings. With the loss to the Hawks, they dropped from sixth to eighth in the standings, and could continue to fall if they don't pick up some wins soon.
Injuries were something that hurt the 76ers last season, and it looks like it's affecting them once again.
