As the team has struggled with injuries, Friday's injury report indicated that Heat guard Norman Powell could return, now adding Herro into the mix.
Both have been upgraded to "available" for Saturday's crucial game against the Orlando Magic, as Powell has missed the last seven games with a right groin strain. Originally labeled as "week-to-week" by Miami, it seems as if seven games was good enough for his recovery, as the team is missing its leading scorer (22.5 points per game) and first-time All-Star.
Herro had missed the last two contests due to left quadriceps soreness, marking a major comeback from a 15-game absence due to a rib injury. Reminding the basketball world of his All-Star potential, he played every game after the All-Star break until last Tuesday.
In March, Herro was averaging 26.3 points per game on 53.7 shooting from the field and 51.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Could the Heat's role be changing for Norman Powell with Tyler Herro?
As evidenced by the change in Powell and Herro's Heat roles, the chemistry between the two has been a process throughout the season, with injuries coming their way, as Saturday will mark the 12th game the two have played together. Herro had missed a total of 45 games before Powell suffered a groin injury, with the latter taking on the role of being the main offensive weapon alongside Adebayo and flourishing, leading to an All-Star season.
However, Powell could perhaps see a role coming off the bench, mostly to get his feet under him to recover from injury, as Herro did the same after each injury. With Miami's record at 38-29, sixth in the East, and Orlando at 37-28, fifth in the conference, there's no denying how important Saturday's game is for the Heat.
