Denzel Dumfries has emerged as a target for Liverpool over the past few months. Inter Milan are now attempting to lure the Dutchman away from the Reds.

Now, it seems the Nerazzurri are trying their best to tie down Dumfries to a new deal.
€25m release clause can be removed

The Nerazzurri now believe that Dumfries cannot be easily replaced. His current contract expires in the summer of 2028 and Inter will now try to renew it until 2029.
The Dutchman currently earns around €4m per season and a new deal would take it to around €5m per season.
Furthermore, the Serie A league leaders want to waive his €25m release clause. They want to have more control over the ex-PSV player's situation and ensure that Liverpool cannot sign him for such a cheap fee.
It is believed that Inter are keen to treat him with great importance and give him what he deserves.
Liverpool can do better than Dumfries
It's fair to say that the Reds still haven't fully replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold. Frimpong has converted from a full-back to a winger, showcasing his trademark ability to carry the ball forward.
In a way, Dumfries is exactly that. He has never really been a technical outlet and his best performances have come as a right wing receiver. He's not a creator by any means and perhaps, Frimpong is better at carrying the ball forward.
Inter usually play Dumfries to his strengths and that is why he is so important to them.
He could become a problem for Liverpool and weaknesses could be exposed. He is 29 years old and possibly looking for one last big contract at the highest level. Talk of a move to Anfield would only help him and his teammates, which is probably why this topic keeps coming up again and again.
