Manchester City are still considering a summer move for Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Morten Hjulmand, with Hugo Viana being big supporters of the player.
And he has also been offered an opening, with Juventus having withdrawn from the race and opening a clear path for the 26-year-old.

One said report Juventus had kept a close eye on Hjulmand, especially after his impressive Champions League performance in Turin. His leadership, tactical intelligence and physical presence made him an exceptional target.
But those same leadership qualities raised an issue. With Manuel Locatelli acting as captain and central man in midfield, Juve feared positional conflicts and have now left Hjulmand off their list. They intend to spend their money elsewhere.
That decision has shifted the spotlight firmly onto England.

City's interest in the midfielder has been driven by an acquaintance, sporting director Hugo Viana. He is the man who originally brought Hjulmand to Sporting from Lecce.
Few officials in Europe know the Dane's profile, mentality and development as well as he does.
With Manchester City constantly developing their midfield, and Rodri's workload a constant concern, Hjulmand fits perfectly into the club's recruitment model. Internally he feels like he is a 'plug and play' Guardiola style midfielder.

Manchester United And Tottenham have also been linked, with their interest coming from the recommendation of Thomas Frank.
But Viana's presence at the Etihad could give them an advantage. He has existing knowledge of Hjulman, and, importantly, an existing relationship. This can help them move faster and more decisively than their rivals.
€80m clause, €50m agreement
Hjulmand's current contract includes a release clause of €80m, but Sporting have a gentleman's agreement to approve a sale for around €50m.
The approach has already been made and there is hope within Alvalade that their captain will leave at some point this summer.
A price tag of €50 million is unlikely to be problematic, as they have spent a similar amount on midfielders last year.
With Juventus out of the picture, they have a clear runway for a midfielder. If Hugo Viana pushes the buttons, he can secure himself as a ready-made leader. And, even, perhaps Rodri's long-term successor.
