The New York Jets have a big decision to make with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. With quarterback Fernando Mendoza widely expected to be selected first by the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets should already have a strong idea of who they will select with their second pick.
With no other obvious first-round prospects worthy of a top-10 pick, the Jets are expected to focus on the best player available. For many draft experts, that player is Ohio State linebacker/pass-rusher Arvel Reese.
According to ESPN's Jets insider Rich Cimini, Reese is the "best fit" for the team at No. 2. Thanks to Reese's positional versatility and overall upside, it's on par with many others.
"General manager Darren Maugi said he hasn't identified that player yet. After listening to Glenn, then gathering some pieces at the NFL spring meetings in Phoenix, it seems like Ohio State's Arvel Reese is the best fit."

If the Jets are looking for an edge rusher, there are several options at No. 2. Possible options could include Reese, Texas Tech's David Bailey, or Miami (FL)'s Reuben Benn Jr., who has drawn criticism for having arms shorter than 31 inches.
It doesn't matter if the Jets are deciding between a pass-rusher at No. 2. It may just be a matter of deciding which one they like best. With less than three weeks left to make a decision, the Jets should be close to finalizing their decision.
