We've already seen a big trade this week, with the New York Giants shipping Pro Bowl DT Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Could the Kansas City Chiefs be close to pulling off another blockbuster with a top-10 pick?
The Chiefs already have the ninth and 29th overall picks in the first round of the draft, but they are reportedly trying to move into the top five.
According to Johnny Venerable of PHNX, the Arizona Cardinals have been in contact with the Chiefs, and are discussing a trade that would send the third overall pick in the first round to Kansas City. Reverend's suggestion is for the Chiefs to send the No. 9 plus changes to Arizona in exchange for the No. 3, then Kansas City will target the top pass-rusher available.
"Sources tell PHNX Cardinals that Osenfort has already engaged in early trade discussions with GM Brett Veach and the Kansas City Chiefs," Venerable wrote. "The Chiefs, who have the ninth overall pick, will likely target the top available pass rusher in Texas Tech's David Bailey or Ohio State's Arvel Reese. While early trade details are unclear, the NFL Trade Value Chart projects that pick #3 is worth around $2200, while pick #9 is worth #1350."
The Cardinals had the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft before moving up to the No. 12 pick and selecting left tackle Paris Johnson. The Cardinals will again be looking to trade down and select another offensive tackle to help stabilize their line. The last time they went down from 3, the Cardinals acquired a future first pick in addition to the 34th pick, a fifth-round selection and the No. 12 overall pick.
If Kansas City can make a deal like this, the price will definitely be different this time, as no two draft picks are alike.
