George Kittle is making good use of the offseason after missing out on the 2025 San Francisco 49ers. The star TE is currently rehabbing an Achilles injury suffered during the Wild Card clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he's clearly keeping in good spirits off the field.
Kittle recently hinted that once his days on the gridiron are over, he and his wife may exchange the Sunday lights for a quiet, family life with their fur children. The post gave fans a glimpse of life beyond the gridiron as Kittle continues to rehabilitate the Achilles injury that sidelined him in the playoffs and kept him away from training camp this offseason. While the All-Pro TE has held off on camp reps for now, John Lynch previously hinted at NFL owners' meetings that Kittle could still be good for Week 1. Still, it's hard to see the 49ers rotating under the bright lights without at least a few camp snaps under his belt.
Kittle has become the heartbeat of the San Francisco 49ers offense ever since San Francisco selected him 146th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. In nine seasons, the veteran tight end has made 595 catches for 8,008 yards and 52 touchdowns and has established himself as one of the greatest TEs of all time.
Even after battling injuries last season, Kittle still put up stats like a certified playmaker – posting 57 receptions, 628 yards and seven touchdowns in just 11 games. On paper, the Niners still look poised for another Super Bowl push in the NFC, but when No. 85 is fully healthy and trucking defenders down the seam, their offense kicks into a different gear.
If Kittle can suit up to start the season and return to old form, don't be surprised if his comeback campaign starts to garner serious Comeback Player of the Year talk.
