The midfielder moved back to Brighton at the end of the January transfer window after spending a year and a half at Borussia Dortmund.
Having previously spent seven years with the Seagulls, he joined them in 2017 before establishing himself as a key player at the club during their recent success.
A €7 million transfer to Dortmund gave him a chance at Champions League football and a chance in the Bundesliga, which he was keen to take. He was initially a key player there too, but this season he found himself falling down the pecking order and so elected to return to Brighton.
He quickly returned to his old club, helping them secure Conference League football the following season. And he is very happy with his decision.
"It was definitely a very good decision. I was able to play regularly again, and in the Premier League, as well as European competition and now qualifying for the World Cup – the best-case scenario I hoped for from this move has come true."

His current deal with Brighton runs until 2027, meaning a decision about his future will have to be made before too long.
However, given the success of his comeback, he has no intentions of moving elsewhere this summer.
“Yes, I will definitely continue playing there,” he said.
For now, the focus will be on the busy World Cup summer. Now confirmed with a place in Julian Nagelsmann's side, Gros is set for an exciting end to a busy season. It was only a short time ago that few people would have guessed that he would be in this position.
