Ollie Watkins' agent has called off transfer talks amid claims Aston Villa The striker is Fenerbahce's target.
photomack report On the 30-year-old agent's comments today. He has immediately shut down talk of a possible transfer.
fenerbahce interest
Sport Witness covered a report last week Explaining that Fenerbahce were 'quietly pursuing' Ollie Watkins this summer. The report, which provided very little information at the time, suggested that talks were taking place behind the scenes regarding the England striker.
Add to Photomak today. They report that Fenerbahce's management are keen to bring in a star signing for the number nine spot this summer. According to the outlet, they have contacted the Aston Villa star through his agents. He is reportedly at the top of their list of options.
The striker was reportedly asked "would you consider joining Fenerbahçe", according to the outlet. This would probably be explanatory, as the Turkish media likes to do.
However, it seems Watkins' agent is putting any transfer talks aside for game time.
He was quoted as saying, "My player is focusing on the World Cup at the moment; we will not be negotiating with any club until the World Cup is over."
Aston Villa unlikely to be interested
However, according to Fotomac, the Turkish team are not disappointed, adding that they will 'test' for the striker after the World Cup. Aston Villa are believed to be worth €25m in ninth place.
But Sport Witness argued that they would like at least double the goals from the striker who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season. It is hard to imagine that Fenerbahçe could ever get close to such figures. Their current record purchase, for example, is a €28m deal for Matteo Guendouzi.
It's hard to see Aston Villa even thinking about a sale this summer. Watkins is a key player under Unai Emery and has been tied down on a deal until 2028. There is no reason to consider selling, unless they are receiving top fees and already have a replacement.
