Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Aurelie Amanda is set to join Coventry City pending a medical checkup.
BILD reports on the matter todayExplaining that the move is worth €20 million including bonuses for the 20-year-old defender.
€20m deal done
The newspaper reports that this is the season of exits for Frankfurt, who have seen Rasmus Christensen, Nathaniel Brown and Aurelie Amanda depart this summer. the latter is Set to join newly promoted Coventry City.
They then report that Amanda's move to Frank Lampard's side was 'just a matter of missing a medical'. It has been delayed because the defender is still at the World Cup with Switzerland. They have reached the quarter-finals, where they will face Argentina on Sunday.
A deal worth €20m including bonuses has already been agreed with Coventry. This would enable him to become Coventry's record signing, although there is time to break it again this summer. The previous record was an €11m deal for Hadji Wright in 2023.
Frankfurt are set to make big profit on the defender. He joined in 2024 on a €9.5m deal after coming through the youth ranks at Young Boys. He played for them at U16, U17, U18 and U21 level before breaking into the first team.
world cup wait
He returned to the club in 2024 before joining Frankfurt permanently. He has since made 42 appearances for the German team, including 24 appearances in the Bundesliga last season. In total, he made 29 appearances in all competitions, including five in the Champions League.
Coventry's focus will now be on the World Cup. Amanda has yet to feature in the tournament, appearing as an unused substitute in the group stage and sitting on the bench for the clashes against Algeria and Colombia so far.
And it appears a medical cannot be completed until the Swiss are ruled out and his transfer to Coventry will be delayed.
