Manchester United could get a boost in the battle for Kenneth Eichhorn as the youngster has made no decision on his future.
This is according to journalist Philip Hinz. He covers today's 16-year-olds and the evolving battle for his signature.
The Hertha BSC youngster is one of Germany's hottest rising prospects, with clubs across Europe competing for his signature this summer. Manchester United is one of them.
Sport Witness has covered his interest extensively. A report in November Add them to the race with Europe's elite in what is likely to be an "unprecedented market" battle for the midfielder.
Manchester United 'expressed interest'
Then came a report yesterday that put Manchester United in the fight once again. It says he has expressed interest in Eichhorn.
Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Barcelona, Manchester and Real Madrid are also in the mix. They are all keen as he could be signed for €10-12m this summer.
That report says Eichhorn will sit down with his family this summer and make a decision about his future. Now Hinge has given a similar report.
He says that the young midfielder has not yet taken any decision about his future. As a result, it is unclear what will happen to him.
According to their information, RB Leipzig are currently actively pursuing him. But many other teams are also in the race and the market is 'important' for them.
'Significant' transfer interest
To be clear on that point, he did not specifically name Manchester United. But other reports do so it's safe to assume they're in the mix.
Eichhorn, for his part, is currently focusing on recovering from a syndesmosis ligament injury. It appears he is postponing any talk about his future until the summer.
This could work in Manchester United's favour. The fact that the youngster has yet to make a concrete choice at least gives him the chance to state his case further in the coming weeks and months.
