Jalen Duren now has the mindset to win a championship

The Detroit Pistons have a league-best record of 43-14 and are 5.5 games ahead of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference. After years of disappointing play since winning championships in the early 2000s, the Pistons are finally back on top of the league. There is a very good chance that the Pistons will represent the East in the NBA Finals this June.

Star center Jalen Duren believes the Pistons can win the championship now. He has an omnichannel mindset that he shared in a recent article for Endscape.

"To some people, it may seem crazy, but we want to win championships. We don't want to wait. We feel like we have the people. We have the coaching staff. We have the mentality, the playing style, to do it. And we're trying to get it done."

The Pistons are loaded with talent. They have six players averaging double figures in scoring, with Cade Cunningham leading the way with 25.4 points per game. Duren is at 18.2 and adds 10.6 rebounds. Cunningham is second in the league in assists with 9.8 assists per game.

Detroit has nearly locked up the top seed in the East. That won't happen for a few more weeks if they continue to play at the same level throughout the season. The next four games are not easy as they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers twice, Orlando Magic twice and San Antonio Spurs. Three of those four are on the road, as these next four games will be a big test for them in what will almost feel like a playoff series.

We'll see if the Pistons come close to winning a championship in 2026.
