He would leave Leeds United on a free at the end of the season. Footmercato believes a return to Lorient is possible and would be a way for Meslier to revive his career.
Meslier's exclusion causes concern
There was never any obvious reason for excluding the French. This is not to say that Leeds United's goalkeepers are bad but the lack of clarity is raising concerns.
Fortunately, Meslier is still only 26 years old, which is very young for a goalkeeper. If he makes the right career choices in the summer, it could get him back on track.
He has shown enough promise in the past to join a recognized club. It would not be surprising if the situation improves drastically by the end of 2026.
Contract status, price and agent
Illan Meslier is currently valued at €12m by Transfermarkt, down from a peak of €22m in 2022. Unfortunately for Leeds United, they won't see any of it.
The goalkeeper's contract expires at the end of June, and he could leave the Whites as a free agent. There is no announced agent for the player, and he has worked with several people in his career.
At the time of Milan's claims, Pini Zahawi was credited as being behind it. Perhaps the lack of a stable agent was the reason he was not transferred in January.
