Philadelphia Eagles have made trade offer on young Pro Bowl defender

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is often praised for his roster-building skills, always keeping his team in contention. In recent years, we have seen the Eagles add several impact guards through the NFL Draft.

However they have built such a strong unit that now other teams are coming for what Philadelphia has built.

According to ESPN's NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles are also receiving trade calls for starting defensive tackle Jalen Carter.

"With defensive tackle Jordan Davis now extended, Philly will also have to consider whether to extend running back Jalen Carter, who is eligible for a new deal," Fowler wrote. "I'm told Philly has received trade calls regarding Carter."

The two-time Pro Bowler's contract is only for one more season. However, the Eagles can always pick up a fifth-year option on the former No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

As Fowler mentioned, fellow Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis recently signed a three-year, $78 million contract, worth an average of $26 million per year. Carter's fifth-year option will give him a salary of $27 million in 2027.

The Eagles may be reaching the point where their star defensive tackle tandem becomes too rich for their blood. Or, perhaps teams are willing to trade for one of the team's cornerstones, hoping they can snag a 24-year-old player who may still have more room for development in his future.
