March Madness is here. The Iowa State Cyclones will battle Tennessee State in a 2/11 matchup in the Midwest Region. The contest begins on Friday at approximately 2:50 p.m. Eastern Time.
In a recent exclusive interview with DJ Siddiqui, Indiana Pacers star point guard and former Cyclone Tyrese Haliburton delivered a long and heartfelt message to his former program as the team heads to the NCAA Tournament. He also talked about his appreciation for being able to stay on the court after being out for so long due to an Achilles injury.
"No question," Haliburton said. "I think it's taught me more than anything to just live in the moment and really enjoy it. That's what I've been talking about with some of these college kids that I've talked to about this tournament. Just live in the moment. You never know when you'll get this opportunity again. It's something I really value from my race and last year's year. "It's definitely something I talked about a lot at Iowa State (her alma). (I've talked to some of the guys from the Mets) as they get into this tournament, to really just live in the moment,'' Haliburton continued to say.
"Enjoy the moment and enjoy it. Because you never know when it's going to happen again. I think that's a big message that I want to share with anyone going through anything is just to enjoy the moment, enjoy where you are at that moment."
“Every day I feel more appreciated,” Haliburton said. "A huge appreciation for every day. A huge appreciation for every game, for every moment that I get to play. I don't want to take any time or anything for granted. There's no question in my mind, I'm thinking about something all the time. As I said before, I talked to these college kids about it as they were getting into this tournament – don't take this moment for granted. It's a very special time to play basketball. I talk to guys about it. I talk nonsense."
