The Washington Capitals (36-28-9) conclude their final multi-game road trip of the 2025-26 season. They visit the Vegas Golden Knights (32-26-15) on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.
The puck drops at 10:30 pm ET.
The Capitals opened the road trip with a 3-0 loss to St. Louis on Tuesday. It seemed as if they were headed for consecutive setbacks when they fell 3-1 to Utah on Thursday.
However, the Capitals bounced back with two goals from Alex Ovechkin in the second period, followed by four more goals in the third. Washington swept Utah with a convincing 7–4 victory.
Ovechkin recorded the 34th hat trick of his career when he clinched the game with an empty-netter in the final minute. Ivan Miroshnichenko also scored twice in the first multi-goal game of his NHL career.
Utah forward Brandon Tanev pushed Matt Roy into the boards first with the intent to injure. Due to this, Tom Wilson told Tanev his feelings. However, Wilson was given a double minor penalty for roughing, while Tanev was given just a minor penalty for boarding.
Later in the game, Brandon Duhaime took off Tanev's gloves after Ovechkin's second goal with the game tied at 3–3. Then, Wilson got involved in another fight as he and Lawson Crouse got involved.
Meanwhile, Vegas is currently in third place in the Pacific Division standings. However, the Golden Knights are 1-4-1 heading into Saturday's game in their last six games.
The Capitals won the last match against Vegas 3-2 at home. Pierre-Luc Dubois scored two goals, while Logan Thompson recorded 24 saves against his former team.
