The Washington Capitals (41-30-9) look to keep their playoff hopes alive with a weekend sweep. They return home to host the Pittsburgh Penguins (41-23-16) on Sunday afternoon at Capital One Arena.

Puck drops at 3:00 PM ET.

The Capitals will play their final home game of the regular season. They will continue to fight for their playoff lives as they look to win three in a row.

The Capitals emerged victorious on Saturday with a 6-3 win at Pittsburgh. Their rookie quartet scored three goals and eight points in the win.

Pittsburgh's captains also didn't match up with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson. Nevertheless, the Penguins have already secured second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Saturday's game was supposed to be the 75th regular season (100th including playoffs) meeting between Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. Despite this, Ovechkin scored an empty-netter and was given a standing ovation from the Steel City.

Multiple Capitals players reached personal milestones in Saturday's win. The biggest being Ilya Protas recording his first NHL goal with three points.

Tom Wilson scored 30 goals in the season for the second consecutive year, while Aliaksei Protas scored 25 goals for the second consecutive year. Ryan Leonard became the eighth Capitals rookie – the first since Ovechkin in 2005–06 – to score 20 goals in a season.

Cole Hutson finished with two assists, while Justin Sourdiff had an assist on Leonard's second goal. Meanwhile, Logan Thompson also made just nine saves to record his 30th win of the season.

Ottawa defeated the Senators 4–0, which also gave the Capitals some help on the scoreboard out of town. However, Columbus and Philadelphia both won, further diminishing Washington's playoff chances.
