Chelsea's interest backed up
image Now let's say Chelsea 'remains high interest' with Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille also involved.
Werder Bremen managing director Clemens Fritz told Bild that his side are aware of the growing interest in Karim Coulibaly. However, he did not reveal the names of the 18-year-old girl's loved ones.
"He has really caught the attention in recent weeks and months. There are not many players in Europe who get playing time in a top-five league at his age like Karim does." He said.
Chelsea and others are 'still waiting' before making the next move as his price could drop.
The German U21 international suffered a hamstring injury in February and was ruled out for 27 days.
This caused him to miss three matches and also the league defeat to RB Leipzig on 4 April due to a muscle problem. Due to recent injuries he has been unable to raise his price, which Bild now claims is €45m.
The German club is 15th in the table [18 teams in Bundesliga]Seven points above 17th-placed VfL Wolfsburg. In the event of his demotion, Coulibaly's value could fall further.
Therefore, Chelsea and others have not made any offer for him yet and they are playing the waiting game. As of now, the fee is around €45m and is likely to be reduced if Werder Bremen are not in the Bundesliga next season.
