Journalist Cesar Augusto Londoño offered the praise today after Wolves were officially relegated from the Premier League on Monday.
Wolves trouble for Arias
Jhon Arias joined Wolves on a €17m deal from Fluminense last summer after earning a growing reputation at the Brazilian club.
During his tenure he reached 47 goals and 55 assists in 230 games for Fluminense, but failed to get anywhere near this during his short stint at Molineux.
Instead, he would only manage two goals and one assist in 26 games for Wolves this season. Only one of these goals came in the Premier League, in a 3–0 win over West Ham in early January.
By the end of that month, he returned to Brazil in a €25 million deal with Palmeiras. And Londoño is now attempting to rewrite its failure as a wise, long-term option.
"John Arias headed to the Premier League with hope, but he arrived at a struggling club that ultimately confirmed his demotion," He wrote on X.
"It was hard to perform. Luckily, Palmeiras stepped up and saved him just before the World Cup, it was a crucial moment. He has regained his form and will be in top shape. A great decision."

However, the reality is very different from how Londono presents it. Although he praises the decision, the truth is that it was the only decision available to Jhon Arias.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that he was a flop at Wolves. While they were struggling, he had the opportunity to establish himself as the star man, the key performer, when Wolves needed it most.
Instead, he simply faded into the background and made little or no impact. Now he has gone back to Brazil, where he feels most comfortable. But Wolves fans are unlikely to accept any revisionism from the likes of Londono, now that he is performing again.
