Mick Foley is set to have his WWE Legends deal expire next month, and AEW has taken notice.
Multiple sources told The Takedown on SI that AEW has expressed "genuine" interest in working with Foley this year. The scope of any potential involvement is unknown, and it is unclear whether AEW will sign or make a one-time appearance.
A source told the outlet that while they had no direct knowledge of Foley coming to Double or Nothing, they wouldn't be surprised if there was pressure to use him on the show if a deal could be made. Double or Nothing is set for Flushing, NY, about an hour from where Foley grew up on Long Island. MJF is ready to put the onus on Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship in the main event.

Foley announced earlier this year that he would let his WWE Legends deal expire in June, citing his opposition to TKO's relationship with WWE and the current administration. WWE Legends contracts do not prevent talents from working for other companies, but they do place restrictions on royalties, merchandising, and the use of their likeness.
The 60-year-old has not wrestled since 2012, but has remained active on the independent scene through appearances. He appeared for The Sandman's retirement match in GCW during WrestleMania week in Las Vegas. His last WWE on-camera appearance came in 2023, when he announced the qualifier candidates for the Iron Survivor Challenge on NXT Deadline. Previously, he served as the general manager of Monday Night Raw from 2016 to early 2017.
Foley was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 and is a three-time WWF Champion, having worked for WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, and promotions throughout his career throughout his career. AEW already has several veterans under contract and Foley could be next.
