The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the most active teams in the National Football League this off-season, realigning the supporting cast around Patrick Mahomes. Now that training camp is just a few months away, another step could be taken.
On this weekend's SportsCenter, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler named the Chiefs as a team to watch that could still add a wide receiver via NFL free agency.
The early Chiefs offseason moves focused primarily on retaining key parts of the offense in addition to the signing of running back Kenneth Walker III. Now that the 2026 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror, free-agent signings no longer impact compensatory selections.
There are still some pass-catching options available on the open market. Former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs stands out as the top option, especially because of his legal troubles. The club could also pursue someone like Deebo Samuel or Curtis Samuel, adding another receiving threat to the Chiefs' offense.
There's also the possibility of a reunion with Tyreek Hill. However, he is still trying to recover from an ACL injury and a dislocated kneecap. The 32-year-old had shown signs of a comeback before the injury, so Kansas City will be taking some risks if he shows signs of being healthy.
