"Any player dreams of playing in the World Cup. At the moment I am thinking about training and working every day to face each match in the best possible way."
However, he then went much further when discussing Paraguay's mentality heading into the tournament.
"We are here to become champions, that's our mentality. We have to go step by step, think about each training session and each match. It's true that we have a tough group. But we need to think about what's going to happen and leave everything on the field."
This confidence reflects Paraguay's growing confidence in the current generation. Gomez is being seen as one of the leaders of that group despite his age.
The fear of getting hurt is going away
Diego Gomez also directly addressed injury concerns and admitted that the opening moment created real fear.
"It was scary. I thought it was going to be something bad, but it wasn't serious."
The Brighton midfielder then confirmed that he is already feeling completely fine.
"I'm already at 100% and I'm getting minutes again so I can be in good shape for the World Cup."
