west ham disbandment
The newspaper reports that Niklas Fulkrug may fancy a return to the River Weser after two disappointing years in England.
They are open to the idea. On paper, at least, he is viewed as a major asset. Even better, the deal should also be viable from a financial perspective.
That's because West Ham are planning to live without the striker following relegation from the Championship. His 'huge' salary of €4.5 million net per year simply needs to be taken off the books.
Fulkrug is willing to take a pay cut over that amount. He would be helped by a potential severance package from West Ham this summer.
Sport Witness covered a report Earlier this week it was said that both sides could cancel his contract in the coming months.
vendor needs guarantee
For their part, Werder need a striker who can guarantee goals. Fulkrug had done this during his previous spell, so the move would 'only make sense'.
The big problem since joining West Ham has been his injury record. He has spent 308 days injured since September 2024. This is a concern, as Werder want players they can trust.
Coach Daniel Thioune emphasized this in a recent interview. "We want to find a good mix and continue to be bold in our decisions. Sometimes you get a chance," he said.
Perhaps if the striker can prove himself to his former club, they will be willing to bring him home. If he's at least open to the idea, the possibility is definitely there. But that may first depend on West Ham's potential severance package.
