west ham united They are set to let Niklas Fulkrug leave the club for a 'reduced fee' this summer as they no longer plan to keep the 33-year-old.
Sky Sports Germany report Today on the striker, who is set to return to the London Stadium from an unsuccessful loan spell at AC Milan.
€3m gross salary at West Ham
The website report that this season has been 'particularly bitter' for Niklas Fulkrug, who has had to battle injury problems, miss out on the Champions League, suffer relegation with West Ham and miss the World Cup with Germany.
Milan are not exercising the €5m option to sign him permanently. And although he is under contract with West Ham until 2028, he has no future with the Hammers either.
West Ham 'no longer plan' to use the 33-year-old striker, largely due to cost reasons. He currently earns over €3m at the London Stadium. This is no longer financially viable as they are a Championship side.
Fulkrug wants to leave and go somewhere else. Clubs from Italy, Spain and MLS are interested in him. There is also interest in the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen are considering bringing him back and preliminary talks have taken place.
west ham agreement
An agreement has to be reached with West Ham. They would be willing to let Fulkrug go 'for a reduced fee'.
A separate report this week said That the Hammers could also let the experienced striker leave on a free transfer via a severance package.
Either way, there is a growing feeling in Germany that Nicklas Fulkrug's time at West Ham is over. This is no surprise after a period of injuries at the club. It was seen that he missed 30 games due to various injuries.
Now that they need to cut costs, it appears he is at the top of the list of people they want to move on.
