Lindelof had a very good first season with Aston Villa. Apart from playing in the backline, he also performed well in midfield and also won the Europa League. He is also a key player for the national team and has been captain most of the time in recent years.
Elanga did not have a good season at Newcastle United. But he offers unpredictability that can make a big impression in an international tournament. His pace could be vital on the break in a group where Sweden may not always be able to maintain possession.
So it's easy to see why Potter isn't keen on taking risks. There's no indication as to when the pair might return, but their return would be a big boost.
