Rangers may still be able to secure Andreas Skov Olsen on a permanent basis at a price below the breakeven clause agreed with Wolfsburg.
salzgitter newspaper Today cover the 26-year-old and how Wolfsburg are looking to make a move for the winger this summer.
Wolfsburg wants sale
The newspaper reports that Wolfsburg need to reduce their squad this summer, but will first expand it, even if involuntarily.
Andreas Skov Olsen is one of three loan players to return to the club after some time away from the German club. He was on loan at Rangers, Moving to Ibrox in the January transfer window.
He made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and assisting three times. Reports have indicated that Rangers are not expected to exercise the purchase option included in the loan deal.
But that doesn't mean a deal is off completely. Wolfsburg are committed to the transfer of Skov Olsen this summer. He and the other two players who have returned from loan have no future at the German club.
rangers opportunity
Andreas Skov Olsen joined Wolfsburg in January last year on a €14m deal but struggled, registering only two goals and one assist in 28 games for the club. The hope was obviously for him to re-establish himself at Ibrox. Instead, he has failed to convince Rangers to exercise their purchase option.
However, the opportunity is there for the Scottish giants if they want. Wolfsburg are clearly determined to move him on. He is currently valued at €6m by the likes of Transfermarkt.
Any potential move would certainly depend on the managerial merry-go-round at Ibrox. With the departure of Danny Rohl and the arrival of Derek McInnes, the team will have to be assessed.
It remains to be seen whether Skov Olsen is involved or not. But if Rangers decide they want him he is there to be signed.
