Bristol City and watford FC Lugano are 'strongly in the running' for midfielder Urien Bislimi this summer.
Journalist Rudy Galetti reports That the Championship pair are pushing for the 26-year-old. Hull City were also in the mix for the midfielder, but are now prioritizing alternative options.
Helps in contract transfer
Galetti points out that Uran Bislimi currently only has one year left on his deal with Lugano, making a summer transfer highly likely.
He joined them in 2022 on an undisclosed deal and has since made 168 appearances, scoring 19 goals and registering 17 assists. He previously scored six goals and 10 assists in 90 games for FC Schaffhausen after coming through the youth ranks at FC Basel.
He also has some international experience, having made two appearances so far for Switzerland and Kosovo. Galetti made no mention of an asking price, but TransferMarket currently rates him at €2.5m.
It remains to be seen whether Bristol City or Watford are willing to pay a price for him. It's possible they'll want to push it as low as possible given his current contract situation.
There is also no mention of whether the 26-year-old would be interested in a move to the Championship this summer. If he leaves Lugano as expected he will certainly want to assess the options available to him.
Watford or Bristol City?
For now, it appears Bristol City and Watford are assessing him ahead of a potential move this summer.
The latter currently have seven players who can play in central midfield, so it's not a position they are particularly crying out for reinforcements.
Meanwhile, Bristol City themselves have six central midfielders, so are unlikely to be priority numbers on that front alone.
But Galetti reports that both sides are 'strongly in the running' for Urien Bislimi this summer.
