Deandre Ayton has had a mixed start to life with the Los Angeles Lakers, largely due to his new role with the team. Accustomed to being the focal point on offense, it’s no secret that Ayton has faced his struggles being the defensive lynchpin on an offensively stacked roster.

There was even a feud with Houston Rockets star Clint Capela, with Ayton claiming after a game that the Lakers were trying to make him play like the former Atlanta Hawks man. However, things have changed recently, with the 27-year-old recently telling The Athletic that he has taken a part out of his game.

“That’s a fact. That’s a true fact. But I, I scratched him, I took him out. I said… when it comes to scoring, we don’t need that. We need you to put that energy into offense and defense,” he said.

Lakers fans have been saying this since the beginning. However, it appears Ayton needed a ‘mirror session’ to get it on his game.

“I just started looking in the mirror and saying ‘Yo bro, … you’re not that guy. You don’t need to be on this team at all to do this. This team, you’re here to try and be the guy to shut down possessions, get rebounds, run the floor very hard, do big things, outwork superstars,'” he revealed.

Deonna Purrazzo has opened up about a creative pitch she made during her time in AEW that never made it to television. Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the current ROH Women’s Pure Champion discussed both the learning curve she faced while joining AEW and the segment ideas she developed that even convinced Chelsea Green it was worth pursuing.

Purrazzo first talked about the adjustment he had to make upon arriving to AEW, explaining that going back to live television was harder than many expected. He received a big promotion early in his career, but the experience was not always pleasant.

“Now, though, I felt like going to AEW was one of those big moments where it was a change again, because TNA wasn’t live at the time. Everything was taped except the pay-per-views, and so I hadn’t had a commercial break in three years,” she said.

“So going back to live TV was really a big learning curve after I hadn’t been there for so long. Then learning the format and things like that, I felt like I was a little bit behind the ball, actually, about two years ago when I started there.”

It was during her tenure in AEW that Purrazzo came up with the segment concept she called “Purrazzo in Picture”. The idea was built around the picture-in-picture format that AEW regularly uses during commercial breaks, but was turned into a comedic vehicle for her character. He explained in detail about the pitch during the Fightful interview.

“I introduced Purrazzo into the picture. It was a mock picture-in-picture segment where we could pop my floating head on, and I could say shit about an opponent, or like a pop quiz, an AEW history question, and make it about one of the girls, and they had a problem with it, and then I could just get crushed,” she revealed.

According to NFL insider Tony Pauline of Essential Sports, the Vikings met with South Carolina’s Rahsul Faison at his recent Pro Day. But the Vikings’ interests went further than this. He took a hands-on approach by holding RB position drills for the 26-year-old prospect.

Faison reportedly had a “fantastic” workout, where he “caught the ball very well.” After the workout was completed, the Vikings took the 5-foot-11, 208-pounder back for lunch.

Faison ran the unofficial 40 yard dash between 4.49 and 4.50 seconds, while the short shuttle clocked in at 4.1 seconds. He also recorded a vertical jump of 37.5 inches.

BOSTON — This latest six-game road trip is basically a brief reunion tour for Golden State Warriors center Kristaps Porzingis. With stops in New York, Washington, DC, Atlanta and Dallas, Porzingis has been making waves in the city of every team he has been with throughout his decade in the NBA. But this latest stop in Boston, the city where he helped the Celtics win their first title in sixteen years, is the place where it may mean the most.

At the Warriors’ morning shootaround, Porzingis spoke to the media about his time playing in Boston and all of the good memories he has with the Celtics.

“It feels good to be back,” Porzingis smiled. “It’s a little weird. I missed the city. Of course, as you’re reading, I missed everything. Honestly, it’s good memories. You know, [it] It’s weird to be back a little bit, but it’s a good feeling.”

Porzingis joined Boston via trade with the Washington Wizards in the summer of 2023, with hopes he could give the Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown Celtics a boost up front. And with his size, defense and shooting, Porzingis did exactly that.

As such, the Celtics sent Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks as a sacrifice to avoid the second apron penalty. And in Atlanta, things will get worse. Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a chronic condition that cut his time in Atlanta short. Porzingis would only play 17 games for the Hawks before the Warriors traded him for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield.

And while Porzingis has recently gotten healthy, scoring a season-high 30 points last night in D.C., the illness sidelined him for six games just after joining the Warriors. It’s safe to say that it’s been a tough season for Latvians.

“This season has been rough,” Porzingis admitted. “But now I’m healthy. Feeling really good. So I’m getting a real good feeling about basketball again, you know? Which is the most important, because everything else goes second when you’re not feeling right.

“It’s natural to feel that way, and now, when I’m really getting my feet back, getting in good shape, it’s a good reminder of why I love it. Just enjoying playing here.”

The POTS situation, along with the illness, is why this season has been so disappointing for Porzingis. From constantly feeling low on energy, to constant fatigue, to sudden bouts of illness, it has been a tough time for the big man.

“I really didn’t want to get those thoughts in my mind,” Porzingis explained.

“Even in general, for life, I don’t want to live at 60% of my energy. I don’t want to feel – I don’t want to live this way. Eventually, I will find a way. No matter what, I will find a way to get how I feel to where I need to feel. At least I’m close to where I was, you know? And I honestly did. Now I’m healing really well again. Everything is back. So I finally feel. “I am starting to be myself again.”

The New York Sirens are trying to clinch their first postseason berth in franchise history – but they will have to do so without one of their key offensive contributors. Third-year forward Taylor Girard will go on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) and miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season, the Sirens announced Wednesday morning.

Midway through the second period of New York’s TakeOver Tour matchup in Denver on Sunday, Girard attempted to deliver a hit on Minnesota Frost forward Britta Curl-Salem. Instead, the toe of his right foot caught the ice awkwardly, causing his knee to buckle. Girard collapsed in pain and immediately grabbed her right knee. He was taken out of the snow on a stretcher.

DeGeorge played a limited role with the Sceptres this season, appearing in 17 games as a fourth-line winger or extra skater. DeGeorge will never replace Girard’s scoring touch. The Alaska native has not recorded a point yet this season; He has no goals and three assists in 66 career PWHL games. If SDE is removed before the roster freeze there may be some other interesting names available. SDE trails Frölunda 2-1 in the best-of-five semifinal series, with Game 4 scheduled for Wednesday.

SDE’s roster includes former Victoire forward Gabrielle David and former Sceptres forward Samantha Cogan. David is second in the SDHL in scoring with 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists); He tallied two goals and six points in 26 PWHL games, most recently appearing in 2024–25. Kogan is fifth in the SDHL with 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) after scoring two goals with Toronto in 2024.
