Week 4: Home at Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals may be the worst team in the NFC, but New York won’t ignore them. Big Blue would have a great victory and win their second game in a row. W (3-1)

Week 5: @WashingtonCommanders

Amazingly, the Commanders are the only team in the division to have defeated the Giants in each of the last two seasons. Washington would win another close battle in this rivalry. L(3-2)

Week 6: Home at New Orleans Saints

The Giants and Saints both finished last in their divisions last season, but some think they could go from worst to first in 2026. New York is expected to pick up a close win and avenge their 26–14 loss from a season ago. w (4-2)

Week 7: @Houston Texans

With the additional changes made to the offense, the Giants’ offense should be more explosive than it has been in years. Unfortunately, this week they will go up against the Houston Texans’ NFL-best defense. This will be very difficult to overcome and they will lose. L(4-3)

Week 9: @Philadelphia

Playing in Philadelphia has been a nightmare for New York as they haven’t won there since 2013. Despite a valiant effort by the Giants, they would lose again in the “City of Brotherly Love”. L(4-4)

New York ended its losing streak to Washington in just a few weeks as the defense shut down quarterback Jaden Daniels and secured an impressive victory. W (5-4)

Week 11: Home at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Giants are trying to do what the Jacksonville Jaguars did last season in going 4-13 to become division champions. Time will tell if New York will accomplish that feat, but they will win this Sunday. W(6-4)

Week 12: @IndianapolisColts

He may never admit it publicly, but Daniel Jones would love to get revenge on the team that abandoned him. Unfortunately for the veteran quarterback, he would not get revenge on the team that drafted him as Big Blue would win for the third consecutive time. W (7-4)

Week 14: @Seattle Seahawks

Seattle is one of the toughest places to play, as the crowd noise can be deafening. Furthermore, they are defending Super Bowl champions with an impressive defense, and quarterback Sam Darnold’s confidence is at an all-time high. The winners will be victorious in this competition. L(7-6)

Week 15: Home at Cleveland Browns

The Giants would end their losing streak against the Browns thanks to a dominant performance from their defense and big play from their special teams unit. W(8-6)

The Detroit Lions overwhelmed New York’s defense in their 34-27 overtime victory in Week 12 last season. The Giants’ defense would perform better, but the result would be the same with a Lions victory. L(8-7)

Week 17:@Dallas Cowboys

New York has not won in Dallas since Week 1 of the 2016 season, which was Dak Prescott’s NFL debut. Their losing streak in Big D will continue with another disappointing defeat. L(8-8)

Week 18: Home at Philadelphia Eagles

After taking over as the Mets president of baseball operations ahead of the 2024 MLB season, he led the club to the National League Championship Series in his first year, but the team is now on the verge of consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance.

Despite declines in recent years, Cohen still believes in Stearns’ vision for the future. Therefore, New York’s head of baseball operations would have to dictate how the club approaches the MLB trade deadline, with a strong incentive to buy out and save his job.

The same level of trust and job security doesn’t exist for Mendoza. Murray wrote that the Mets’ captain’s future “seems more uneven” and that change is possible. What doesn’t help the New York manager is the fact that a vacancy will attract the top managerial candidates in MLB.

Ultimately, the most likely outcome is that Mendoza will be fired this year and Stearns will be chosen as the next captain of the Mets. If things don’t work out with the next manager, Cohen will likely vacate the house.

On Saturday night, a big MMA event took place in Inglewood, California, without the UFC on its banner. Most Valuable Promotions, with the help of streaming giant Netflix, sought to show that there is life outside the Octagon and delivered an action-packed card full of finishes and cage-fighting greats at MVP MMA 1.

Following the events of the Rousey vs. Carano card inside the Intuit Dome, we take a look at some of the biggest takeaways from a rare successful MMA event not promoted by the UFC.

MVP should build to the Robalis Despaigne vs. Francis Ngannou fight

Two standout performances on the MVP MMA 1 card from two big men competing on Saturday night. Former UFC heavyweight king Francis Ngannou and karate combat champion Robellis Despaigne. Both delivered highlight reel knockouts, especially the Cuban over heavyweight legend Junior dos Santos.

If MVP can afford to bring Ngannou back for their next event, they should do so. Likewise for DeSpain. And the ultimate goal is to build up the latter to feel like a legitimate threat to Cameroonians. A potential clash between the two heavyweights could easily headline MVP MMA 3 or 4 in 2027.

However, you have to go back to the early 2010s and the last time Strikeforce had a strong No. 2 option in an MMA game.

On Saturday, MVP MMA 1 felt like Strikeforce was reborn, and that’s a good thing. The California-based brand didn’t fail because it couldn’t deliver a good product. Unfortunately its owners were unwilling to invest the money to make it a long-term success, and the UFC bought out its deep and talented roster.

The way the ring entrances were arranged last night, Mauro Ranallo and Kenny Florian were a rock-solid team on commentary, and with a card that featured some good action and finishes, including a submission win for Ronda Rousey, it felt like Strikeforce had been revived. If this is the way MVP MMA is headed, it’s a great thing for MMA fans.

MVP MMA 1 was an entertaining card, and one of its unique elements was a cross-promotion fight between Tuff-N-Uff’s Lightweight Champion and KSW Champion Kenneth Cross and Salahdin Parnasse. That fight also provided an exciting finish to the first round and was a showcase for casual fans of some of your lesser-known talents in the sport.
