Luke Kennard drains game-winning 3-pointer vs. Magic

Luka Kennard expressed excitement after making the game-winning 3-pointer in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 105-104 win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night.

Kennard is in the ninth season of his NBA career, his first with the Lakers. He has proven useful as a sharpshooter, being a valuable spark plug on the second unit.

His shooting abilities came to the fore in Los Angeles’ battle with Orlando. He got a 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation, keeping the team’s winning streak intact for another game. Kennard reflected on the clutch highlights after the game and explained what happened on the biggest play of the night.

“First of all, great performance by us. Executed the play before we even thought we got fouled, everything that came back here, we executed a play, tried to get LeBron to the rim. Two guys went. Smart made a good play, and I was able to knock it down,” Kennard said.

Luke Kennard proved himself to be a team player who will perform well in the biggest moments, helping the Lakers get a win over the Magic.

Four players scored in double figures for Los Angeles in the win, including Kennard. He finished with a stat line of 13 points and three rebounds on 5-7 shooting from the field. Luka Doncic led the team with 33 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Austin Reaves came in next with 26 points and seven rebounds, while LeBron James provided 12 points and six rebounds.

Los Angeles improved to a 46–25 record on the season and finished third in the Western Conference standings. They are ranked above the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets.

Riding a nine-consecutive win streak, the Lakers will be looking forward to their next contest. They remain on the road when they take on the Detroit Pistons on March 23 at 7pm ET.

Royce O’Neal calls game vs. Lakers with clutch 3-pointer

The Phoenix Suns snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday and they have a lot to thank Royce O’Neal for. O’Neal broke the tie by hitting a dagger 3-pointer with one second remaining in the fourth quarter to give Phoenix a 113–110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Suns played brilliantly in that game, leading to a wide-open try from deep by O’Neale, who finished the game with 13 points.

It all started with Grayson Allen attacking the Lakers’ defense, and when everyone’s attention was on him, he threw the ball to Collin Gillespie, who immediately passed the ball to O’Neal. Without hesitation, former Baylor Bears forward O’Neal launched a shot from behind the arc that found nothing but the bottom of the net.

There was still time left on the clock after O’Neal, but the Lakers could not convert a bucket after the timeout, as Austin Reaves missed a last-gasp 3-point attempt from the corner.

O’Neal finished his evening with 13 points with three triples, while Allen and Gillespie provided 28 and 21 points, respectively, for the Suns, who won despite missing star shooting guard Devin Booker and forward Dillon Brooks.

That shot from O’Neal also summed up the Suns’ unselfishness in the contest. He had 22 assists on 40 field goals and also hit a total of 22 3-pointers on 50 attempts from deep. It seemed a little easier for Phoenix to make outside shots from deep against the Lakers’ defense.

Kon Nueppel makes NBA history with 200th 3-pointer

The Charlotte Hornets struck gold with the selection of sharpshooting wing Kon Nueppel with the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft. Knueppel has made an immediate impact for the Hornets thanks to his consistently excellent play, leading them to the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Many believed that his skills would easily translate to the NBA game, but even Knueppel’s most optimistic supporters would not have guessed that he would play so well so early in his professional career.

On Tuesday night, in a comfortable win over the faltering Chicago Bulls, Knueppel had another solid regular season, scoring 21 points on an efficient 7-12 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc as the Hornets blew a lead of over 30 points.

Knueppel entered the night just two three-pointers short of his career-high 200 points; In surpassing the triple, he needed only 58 games to surpass that figure, which is the fastest ever performance in NBA history, as reported by the official ClutchPoints account on X (formerly Twitter).

The Hornets sharpshooter is quickly on his way to becoming one of the most prolific outside shooters in league history, and considering how important shooting skills are, especially in today’s NBA, Knueppel is well on his way to becoming one of the league’s best players.

It’s not at all clear that Knuppel is truly the crown jewel of the Hornets’ rebuild. LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller are incredible players in their own right, but Knueppel’s unstoppable scoring ability and efficient volume production from beyond the arc have made him one of the most valuable players in the association, especially considering he is only 20 years old.

On the season, Knueppel averaged 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on 49/44/89 shooting splits.
