The two-time defending Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers are facing elimination and may not have the best player on earth.

Connor McDavid was absent from the Oilers’ morning skate at Rogers Arena ahead of Tuesday’s do-or-die Game 5 of the Western Conference first round against the Anaheim Ducks.

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak will miss Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Slovenia international has been Diego Simeone’s No. 1 for more than a decade. He has played every minute in the Champions League this season and conceded 20 goals in 10 matches.

He failed to keep a clean sheet in the competition and conceded two goals in Atletico’s Champions League win over Tottenham last week.

Atletico will not have to worry about Oblak’s injury for the Champions League second leg against Spurs. However, he could be a big miss in the crucial clash against Real Madrid this weekend.

The visiting team has a three-goal lead from the first leg against a team that has not registered for more than a month.

Tottenham’s last win was against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on 28 January. Earlier, Spurs had defeated Borussia Dortmund in the same competition and both of these are their only wins in 2026.
