Darrin Peterson has absurd excuses for health fears before potentially becoming the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft

Kansas star Darrin Peterson offered an absurd explanation to ease some teams’ concerns ahead of next month’s NBA Draft.

For many basketball evaluators, there was no more exciting NBA prospect than the Jayhawks guard in the 2025-26 college basketball season as the freshman was one of the most prolific scorers in the country. He has a great mid-range game, but can also be a force at the basket and from three. But he doesn’t need to be a ball hog and can be dangerous without it.

Additionally, the 6-foot-5 guard has a wingspan similar to that of a 6-foot-10 player, and this, along with his athletic ability, plays a significant role in why he is also a difference-maker on the defensive side of the ball. He has the potential to become a perennial All-Star at the next level. However, he had one major challenge stacked against him in his lone season at Kansas: his availability.

Of the Jayhawks’ 35 games, Peterson missed 11, and there were instances when he asked to leave games early while on the heater. This led to questions about how dedicated he was to winning, as the crux of it all often seemed to be the excuse.

Well, this week, Peterson tried to calm some doubters about possibly being the No. 1 pick in June’s draft with an explanation of cramp issues. The 19-year-old told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that “a new round of blood tests and other tests” by doctors during the pre-draft process revealed that creatine was the cause of his cramps.

“I had never taken it before, but after the season, I took two weeks off and they did tests that showed my baseline levels were already high,” he said. “So, when I took the dose they said [a process of increasing a dose over time to create maximum benefit at the beginning of taking a supplement]”This would have made the levels unsafe.”

Peterson revealed that his cramps got so bad at a Kansas boot camp in September that he actually feared he might die.

“I took it to the training room and begged them to call 911,” Peterson recalled of the cramps he felt in his legs, stomach, back, arms and hands. “They were trying to give me an IV, get a vein to get me back hydrated. But I was convulsing so hard they couldn’t get the vein out. I thought I was going to die on the training table that day.”

In recent mock drafts, Peterson is projected to go to the Indiana Pacers (No. 2) or the Brooklyn Nets (No. 2) in Round 1 of the NBA Draft.

Victor Wembanyama accomplishes absurd NBA feat not seen in 4 decades

Victor Wembanyama achieved an incredible feat with his performance in the San Antonio Spurs’ clash against the Miami Heat on Monday night.

Vembanyama is going through the third season of his NBA career with the Spurs. He has made serious strides as one of the top players in the league, leading the team back into playoff contention.

In 26 minutes of action, Vembanyama filled the stat sheet. He finished with a stat line of 26 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and four assists. He made 11 of 22 shots from the field, including 1 of 7 from beyond the arc and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line.

This performance allowed him to make NBA history. Before turning 23, he scored a record 4,000 points and 600 blocks, the first player to do so in the last 40 seasons.

Victor Wembanyama continues to make serious noise as a young superstar, leading the Spurs to an emphatic 136-111 win over the Heat.

Rebounding and inside scoring made the difference in this matchup. The Spurs won both categories after grabbing 62 rebounds and scoring 60 points inside the paint. It wasn’t the same for the Heat as they only grabbed 38 rebounds and scored 40 points inside the paint.

Six players scored in double figures for San Antonio in the win, including Wembanyama. Dylan Harper delivered a strong performance with 21 points, six assists, four rebounds and two blocks. He made 9 of 14 shots overall, including 3 of 5 from downtown. Keldon Johnson finished second with 21 points and six rebounds, Stephon Cassel had 19 points and seven rebounds, De’Aaron Fox added 14 points and six assists, while Harrison Barnes provided 13 points and three rebounds.

San Antonio improved to a 54–18 record on the season and second place in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, while trailing the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Riding a six-consecutive win streak, the Spurs will be looking forward to their next matchup. They remain on the road when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies on March 25th at 8PM ET.

LeBron James joins the absurd club with Shai-Gilgeous-Alexander masterpiece

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander brought his A-game in a big matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. The Oklahoma City Thunder lost some key players, but in the end, Gilgeous-Alexander’s best performance was enough to defeat the Nuggets.

Try as Denver might, Gilgeous-Alexander was too much to handle, as he scored 35 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished the rock 15 times to go along with the game-winning triple and secure a 129-126 victory for OKC.

The Nuggets were a little conservative with their coverage of Gilgeous-Alexander, and the MVP made them pay as a result. In fact, Gilgeous-Alexander was so calm and so in control that he didn’t turn the ball over once all night, even though he was handling the rock on almost every possession on the floor for the Thunder.

In doing so, according to ESPN Insights on X, Gilgeous-Alexander became the second player in NBA history to record at least 35 points and 15 assists in a single game without turning the ball over. He joined LeBron James (2018) as the only players to do so during a league span that also includes postseason games.

Many will say that the 2018 version of James is his peak, and who knows, maybe when people look at the 2026 version of the Thunder star, they will also see that he was still at his best at that time.

The Thunder may have shown some signs of weakness early in the season, but it hardly matters now. They now know what it takes to win, and it’s always helpful to have the best player on the field playing for your team every night.

OKC remains the team to beat, and it’s thanks to Gilgeous-Alexander that the Thunder will be extremely difficult to dethrone.

Rumor reveals absurd price the Dolphins, Browns or Steelers would have to pay to sign Malik Willis

Despite an unsuccessful performance at Tennessee and being the backup in Green Bay the last two years, if teams like the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns or Pittsburgh Steelers wanted to sign Malik Willis in free agency, it would be a ridiculous price.

While they had different results in 2025, the Dolphins, Browns and Steelers are all entering the offseason with the same issues. Figuring out who will be their starting quarterback next season.

Miami is expected to move on from Tua Tagovailoa this offseason after disappointing performances over the past two seasons and a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2023. Cleveland has options like Deshaun Watson and Shadure Sanders, but rumors suggest they will look at the QB market this offseason. Pittsburgh could run it back with Aaron Rodgers in 2026, but they need to find a long-term option at the position.

That’s why reports and speculation have linked all three to impending free agent Malik Willis. The third-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft is viewed as the best QB available in free agency despite starting his career with the Tennessee Titans and then serving as a backup for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 and 2025.

Could Malik Willis get a deal worth more than $30 million annually?

Willis’ time in Green Bay and what he showed in limited action last season has created a lot of talk that the 26-year-old could be the next Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones. Due to the weak QB market this offseason and his untapped potential, Willis is clearly attracting a lot of interest, and it is driving up the asking price for teams that want to sign him.

As NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports, “As expected, Packers free agent QB Malik Willis is in demand, and the interested teams I spoke to at the combine in Indianapolis believe him getting at least $30 million per year is a foregone conclusion.”

A deal in the thirties would get them the same money as Darnold and Baker Mayfield. Players who proved more than enough during their careers and reached the playoffs. That’s a surprising amount of money Willis could get, but it’s the going rate for a demanding position that garners some of the biggest contracts in the NFL.
