When looking at the New Jersey Devils and the Toronto Maple Leafs you couldn’t picture two more opposites.

The former created a fare that was universally loved. The latter hired and summoned firing squads, and had them attack their targets.

Whether you like the way the question was asked or not, there’s certainly reason to be skeptical of the Maple Leafs’ new direction.

Whereas in New Jersey, there is only reason for optimism. Trust me, if there was any lapse on Mehta’s radar, he would have been asked.

But what we’re seeing in Toronto is amazing. Yes, there was a pipebomb promo by Steve Simmons. But he’s not the only Toronto-based media that came out in the open.

And to think that the Devils’ smart move to get Mehta out from under Toronto’s feet was the start of this whole thing.
