Tyler Reddick announces contract decision for the 2027 season

Tyler Reddick has been the best driver in NASCAR this season, becoming the first driver since Dale Earnhardt three decades ago to win five of the first nine races on the schedule. This all comes at the perfect time as the driver of the No. 45 car is in a contract year.

Appearing on Fox Sports this Sunday, Reddick revealed on the broadcast that he has signed a contract extension to remain with 23XI Racing through the 2027 season.

  • tyler reddick stats: 5 wins, 6 top-five finishes, 7 top-10 finishes, 6.1 average starting position, 5.0 average finishing position in nine races

This shouldn’t be much of a surprise. 23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin said on his podcast in March that an extension with Redick would be done “soon.” The reports emerged after a few weeks of changes. This came a month after NASCAR insider Jordan Bianchi said there were expectations around the garage that a deal would be signed during the season.

It’s already been a memorable year for Redick. In February, he became the first driver in 23XI history to win the Daytona 500. He got it off to a historic start, becoming the first Cup Series driver to win the first three races of the season.

Along the way, Reddick broke 23XI’s previous single-season record for wins. He is also a favorite to win the regular season points championship, which would be his second title in the last three seasons.

It has been a remarkable turnaround after a challenging 2025 season. He failed to win a race last year and was eliminated at the Round of 12, just a year after reaching Championship 4. All this happened at a time when he and his wife’s newborn baby were hospitalized due to a chest tumor that had affected his heart. Fast forward to 2026, his son is better and Redick has now signed a long-term deal with 23XI.

Although terms of the deal were not disclosed, reports last week indicated that the new contract will make Reddick one of the highest-paid drivers in NASCAR. 23XI Racing’s future also appears to be in jeopardy from contract extensions, with Reddick driving the No. 45 car, Bubba Wallace driving the No. 23 and top prospect Corey Heim expected to replace Riley Herbst in the No. 35 car next season.

Sacramento announces final score on X after bad loss to Hornets

The Sacramento Kings fielded such a depleted roster on Tuesday night, and against an up-and-coming Charlotte Hornets team that is exceptionally impressive in wins, it was simply a one-way ticket to demolition. Although they kept it a little closer in the first quarter of the game, the Kings lost the final 36 minutes of play as they fell behind by 25 points en route to a 134–90 loss to the Hornets.

While the Kings have no incentive to win these days considering they’re prioritizing getting better lottery odds, a 44-point loss in the NBA is never something to swallow easily. And it appears the team’s social media manager is almost completely satisfied with the Kings’ loss.

It got to the point where he didn’t even bother to include the final score on his tweet signaling the end of their Tuesday night contest against the Hornets, instead urging fans to check the box score on the NBA’s official website.

“FINAL: Check out NBA.com,” the Kings’ tweet read.

Tanking kings get devastated by injuries

Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis (11) celebrates after hitting a three-point basket against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the first half at Rocket Arena.
ken blaze-imagen images

At this point, the Kings aren’t even tanking intentionally. For starters, the injury bug hasn’t been kind to him at all. They are missing key players like Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray and Zach LaVine, while players like Russell Westbrook and Nick Clifford were also out on Tuesday. Even Killian Hayes, who had been a recent starter, was absent against the Hornets.

The Kings certainly lucked out in a promising lottery position, as they had no intention of tanking before the start of the season. But the chips have fallen into place for them this way, and they’re making the most of it. Only time will tell if this painful loss will be worthwhile for the Kings.

Kevin Durant announces LeBron James, 45

On Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers continued their winning streak with their second consecutive win over the Houston Rockets. It was an epic game for LeBron James, who scored 30 points on a hyper-efficient 13-of-14 from the field in the win.

After the game, fellow icon Kevin Durant told reporters that he believes James can play in the NBA until he is 45, according to Law Murray, formerly of Twitter, of The Athletic on X.

Durant said, “I don’t know if he wants to stay that long. But I think honestly, he can play another 4-5 years… It’s no surprise now.”

In fact, the NBA has never seen anything like what James has been able to accomplish at age 41. While he’s not the same athlete he was during his Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers days, James remains a nightmare for opposing defenses in the open court, able to force his way to the basket, as he did with several impressive dunks on Wednesday night.

As his NBA career has progressed, he has also improved his perimeter jumper, and of course, his basketball IQ is as strong as it has ever been.

In recent weeks, James has begun to take on more of a backseat role for the Lakers, allowing teammates Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves to do the heavy lifting on offense. While Doncic scored 40 points in Wednesday’s win over Houston, James was clearly the second option in this affair, dismantling Houston’s defense and draining difficult jumpers.

With this win, the Lakers have increased their lead on the field for third place in the Western Conference, and will take the field again for a game against the Miami Heat on Thursday evening.

Utah announces Isaiah Collier injury update amid matchup vs. Kings

The Utah Jazz suffered their third consecutive loss after falling to the Sacramento Kings 116-111 at Golden 1 Center on Sunday. The Jazz have now lost 10 of their last 12 games.

A loss to the Kings could be extra costly, as Isaiah Collier could miss some time. He suffered a knee injury midway through the fourth quarter and was ruled out of the remainder of the competition, as announced by the team on X.

Collier finished with 21 points on 9-of-21 shooting, five rebounds and three assists.

The 21-year-old guard has already missed 11 games this season due to a hamstring strain and a recent illness.

The Jazz have been criticized for suddenly benching players in the fourth quarter, including Lauri Markkanen, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Bryce Sensabaugh, who were reportedly tanking in games to improve their chances of getting the top overall selection in the draft lottery.

The NBA has already fined Utah $500,000 for “conduct detrimental to the league.”

The severity of Collier’s knee injury is unclear, but fans are already skeptical.

@jhtem said, “45th fake injury in the last week.”

“Do you think anyone will believe this? Have some shame, you failure,” @hogsmeadd said.

@BubbaHubbaWubba said, “And you all are some people who lose games on purpose.”

@PatsFlamini wrote, “LMAO, get the fuck out of here.”

@Yooshiiiiiii_ commented, “F*** Isaiah Collier, destroy this player like the entire Jazz team.”

The Jazz fell to 20–48, trailing only the Kings, who improved to 18–51 for the worst record in the Western Conference.

Utah has never had the No. 1 overall pick since the draft lottery began in 1985.

Dwight Howard officially announces retirement from basketball

Former NBA star Dwight Howard officially announced his retirement through a post on social media. Howard posted a video montage of his life from a small child to now on Instagram and announced that it was finally time for him to hang up.

“Woke up today on the 12th of this month and thought it was time to move on from Superman!” Howard wrote on social media. “I’m not a super person… I cry! I struggle! I feel just like everyone else. Through lies, media and hate I still show love and smile through the storm.

“But now I’m retiring from all basketball to help my family and give back to communities around the world. I know some of you may think I thought I already ‘retired’, but I didn’t…the game retired me! I still have so much left to give!”

Dwight Howard said in his social media post that he wished he had a retirement tour like some of his teammates or played into his 40s, but his new mission is to support the next generation of players. He also said that in honor of his number, number 12, he is declaring the 12th of every month as ‘D12 Day’ where he will visit cities around the world and perform random acts of kindness.

Howard also revealed that he has a documentary in the works and plans to release it this year. The film is believed to show his journey from grade school to the NBA.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft, Howard had not appeared in the league since the 2021–22 season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame last September.

During his 18 years in the NBA, he played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. His career averages are 15.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 blocked shots.

Team announces new Stephen Curry timeline amid injury concerns

Stephen Curry has received a big update on his injury recovery timeline as the Golden State Warriors wait for his return to the court this season.

Curry has been on the sidelines since his last on-court appearance on January 30 against the Detroit Pistons. He has been dealing with a knee injury that kept him sidelined throughout February, and also prevented him from participating in All-Star Weekend festivities in Los Angeles.

Despite this, Golden State had an important update on the veteran star guard’s timeline. The team believes he is making progress as he will get another evaluation after the next 10 days.

“The re-evaluation concluded that Curry is making continued progress. He will be re-evaluated in 10 days,” the announcement said.

Dejounte Murray announces return from Achilles injury

The New Orleans Pelicans have been very healthy the past few weeks, and they could be getting some more reinforcements soon. Dejounte Murray, who has not played since last year due to his Achilles injury, could return in the Pelicans’ next game, according to Will Guillory of The Athletic.

“Dejounte Murray says he believes tomorrow will be his first game back from his Achilles injury,” Guillory, formerly of the X, wrote on Twitter.

Murray continues to improve, and will now bring some much needed guard help to the roster. Jordan Poole was inserted back into the rotation just two games ago after multiple DNPs, and rookie Jeremiah Fears has taken over the majority of the minutes as he has been the starter for most of the season.

The Pelicans will likely bring Murray back slowly, but it wouldn’t be surprising if, at some point during the second half of the season, he ends up in the starting lineup. With no first-round pick for next season, the Pelicans have no reason to tank, so they will try to win as many games as possible. They have talent, but they haven’t been able to get it together this season, which is why they finish bottom of the Western Conference.

It’s been a good run of games for Zion Williamson, and it might be the healthiest he’s had in a long time. Unfortunately, Trey Murphy III has missed the last few games due to injury, but head coach James Borrego is optimistic he won’t be out long.

If the Pelicans can get a stretch of games where everyone is healthy, it will be interesting to see how many wins they can rack up before the end of the season.

Memphis announces Ja Morant timeline regarding UCL injury

The Memphis Grizzlies’ season has been derailed. They entered the NBA All-Star break 20–33 and finished 5.5 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies have been derailed in part by injuries, in particular, an injury to star point guard Ja Morant.

Morant has played in only 20 of 53 games this season. They played their last game on January 21 against the Atlanta Hawks in a 124–122 loss. The former All-Star guard is dealing with a UCL injury in his elbow.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Morant was still dealing with discomfort Will be reevaluated in two weeksAccording to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

This season has been full of injuries for Morant. Earlier, he had not been able to play for more than a month due to a calf strain.

All the injuries to the former second overall pick are only half of the story. He has been in controversy for many years due to his off-court antics. That combination appears to have crushed any trade value Morant provided for the Grizzlies.

Despite several trade rumors surfacing, the NBA trade deadline came and went while Morant still remained in Memphis.

Injuries are nothing new for the Murray State product. During his seven-year professional career, the Grizzlies guard has dealt with ankle sprains, knee sprains, back spasms, hip dislocations and labral tears in his shoulder. All this was ahead of the 2025-26 season.

He is not the only Grizzlies player to be out due to injury.

Additionally, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will undergo minor surgery to repair an impingement on his right little finger.

LeBron James announces retirement at NBA All-Star

For another year, LeBron James has chosen to have his NBA All-Star press conference different from others, and of course, that’s led some to believe that big news is coming. To get this out of the way, James was asked what his plans would be for retirement, and he gave the same answer he has been giving for some time.

“I want to live…when I find out, you guys will know. I don’t know,” James said.

Honestly, it doesn’t seem like James is focused on retirement just yet, as he’s still playing like he has a lot left in the tank. Just before the All-Star break, he recorded a triple-double in the Lakers’ win against the Dallas Mavericks, becoming the oldest player in history to do so.

After the game, he talked about how he knew when it was time to call it quits, and that it was more about falling out of love with the process than a decline in his play.

“My game is not going anywhere,” James said, via Dave McMenamin. “It’s all these other things, it’s a lot of other factors that go into how long the game has to be played. I don’t think it would ever have any impact on my game if I decided to continue playing, no matter how long it is. I think it should be [my mind]:How long can I stay in love with this process?

“If I can’t continue to be in love with this process, if [my mind] If it goes, my body is going to go. And once my body is gone, it’s a cover.

James still looks to be in good shape and is putting up big numbers even at his age. Even though he knows the time to put on the jersey may come soon, as long as he can get on the field and give it his all, he’s keeping the thought of retirement in the back of his mind.
