One of the most popular stories about Miami over the years has been its reluctance to include certain players in potential trades. Several players have been involved in trade rumors since arriving in Miami, but the team has taken them out of the conversation to acquire difference makers. This has to be changed now.

The Heat should absolutely trade for Antetokounmpo this summer. Bam Adebayo should really be the only player over the limit; However, everyone else needs to be at the table. This includes Tyler Herro and Kyle Ware, as both players would be interesting for Milwaukee in the post-Antetokounmpo era.

Miami would also include all of its draft selections in this scenario. Needless to say, the Heat will have to give up most, if not all, of their assets. When a player like Antetokounmpo is on the market, this is the most likely outcome for a team looking to make an NBA Finals appearance.

The Heat will build their team around Adebayo and Antetokounmpo, which should be enough to get them back into contention if everyone stays healthy. The only issue is that many other NBA organizations will feel the same way. Antetokounmpo will put them over the top.

So, if Miami is Antetokounmpo’s preferred destination, it’s time for Riley and the front office to push all of their chips into the middle of the table.

Bucks await injury update on Giannis Antetokounmpo as Hawks have won eight straight games

Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as questionable due to management of a right calf injury. Ousmane Dieng is also questionable while dealing with an illness. Kevin Porter Jr. is listed as questionable with right knee synovitis. Alex Antetokounmpo and Cormac Ryan have both been listed as part of their G League two-way assignments.

Atlanta is entering the matchup with momentum on its side. The Hawks (35-31) currently have the longest active winning streak in the NBA, having won eight consecutive games prior to Saturday’s contest. The surge has helped Atlanta climb the Eastern Conference standings, solidifying its playoff position.

With Antetokounmpo’s status still uncertain, Milwaukee could face a tough challenge against one of the hottest teams in the league. The Bucks will likely make a final decision on his availability closer to game time after additional evaluation of his calf condition.

Saturday’s game concludes a brief two-game road trip for Milwaukee. The team will return to Fiserv Forum to host the Indiana Pacers (15-52) on Sunday at 3:30 PM ET, as the Bucks attempt to stabilize their season during the closing period.

The 2025-26 season is long lost for the Milwaukee Bucks, but Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t going down without a fight. Despite all the trade rumors surrounding him, he has proven to be as committed a star as can be to the Bucks franchise, but on Thursday, after a 112-105 loss to the Miami Heat, they fell to 27-38 on the season – six games back of 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

There was a key moment in the fourth that put the game out of reach for the Bucks. With less than a minute remaining, Antetokounmpo decided to go for the home run play and go for a three-point attempt, which he missed. On the other end, the Heat got a hot hand in Pelle Larsson, who swished a triple to extend the Heat’s lead to six with less than 30 seconds left in the ballgame.

After the game, the Bucks star admitted to being disappointed with himself, saying he wished he had taken more threes to get himself into a better rhythm when it came time for him to make the game-tying triple.

“I’m a little upset with myself because I didn’t shoot — like if I had maybe made one or two shots at the beginning of the first half when I was open and I kept passing it to my teammates to get better shots and I wasn’t confident in myself,” Antetokounmpo said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic.

“Maybe, if I had shot them both, maybe I would have felt a little better and maybe that bullet would have gone in.”

Still, Antetokounmpo felt he made the right play, and he will never regret being aggressive in hunting his shot.

“Most of the time I do the right things, take good shots, so … I haven’t been able to do that,” Antetokounmpo said. “But still, I’m being aggressive. I don’t regret being aggressive. I regret when I’m being passive…the ball didn’t go in.”

On Sunday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks will take to home turf for a game against the Orlando Magic. The Bucks recently saw the return of Giannis Antetokounmpo from a lengthy calf injury, but he will not be in uniform on Sunday as he continues to recover from an injury. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s state of play vs. the Magic

As previously mentioned, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be on the sidelines for Sunday’s Bucks game vs. the Magic, having been officially listed out due to right calf injury management. It remains to be seen whether resting Antetokounmpo due to injury management will be a routine for the Bucks as the regular season comes to an end. Their postseason hopes are currently on life support after last week’s loss against the Atlanta Hawks.

Joining Antetokounmpo on the injury report is Kyle Kuzma, who is questionable with a thoracic spine injury. Kevin Porter Jr. will be out with right knee synovitis, as will Taurean Prince with a neck injury.

For the Magic, Anthony Black is listed as questionable with a lower back sprain, while Jonathan Isaac is also questionable with a knee sprain. Jess Richardson is doubtful with lower back spasms, while Franz Wagner is out as he recovers from an ankle injury.

The Bucks surprised many with their decision to retain Antetokounmpo during last month’s NBA trade deadline. The star was sidelined with a calf injury at the time, and has played in three games since his return. It remains to be seen if they plan to keep Antetokounmpo long-term, or if they were waiting for better offers in the upcoming offseason.

As spectacular as his rise to superstardom has been, he’s producing one of the more prominent collections in Nike basketball with only Kevin Durant and LeBron James having more current signature silhouettes with the Swoosh.

Always on the cutting edge when it comes to design and performance, the Nike Giannis Freak 8 appears to follow suit at first glance. Antetokounmpo previously shared a hyper pink colorway, but we can expect a whole bunch in the coming weeks.

Previously, the backwards Nike Swoosh served as a hallmark for Nike Giannis sneakers, so it’s interesting to see a clean, metallic gold Nike Swoosh with minimal branding and a center back. The shoes feature a contrasting tongue in black mesh to match the black laces and sockliner, complete with a gold Giannis logo on the tongue.

As is the case with the Nike Giannis Freak 7, the Freak 8 will feature a 360° cushioned outsole for maximum comfort, extending to the forefoot and rear heel in a “winged” design, reminiscent of the Nike LeBron 23.

The Freak 8 is expected to be released on August 1, 2026 at a standard retail tag of $115. The Milwaukee Bucks faltered again, falling to 26-35 after losing 131-113 to the Atlanta Hawks at Fiserv Forum. Giannis Antetokounmpo played well but could not help his team. Following the Bucks’ loss, according to Eurohoops’ Johnny Askonis recap, Antetokounmpo lamented the loss and challenged his team afterward.

“I was a little disappointed. I feel like when you’re down 11 or 12, you just have to play smart, try to take the best shots possible, be in the right spots. At the end of the day, we all have to be on the same page,” Antetokounmpo told Askonis.

Antetokounmpo scored 24 points while making 10 of 15 shots from the floor. However, the rest of the players of his team could not do anything special. The offense still shot 50% on the night, but allowed the Hawks to shoot 54.3%, including 44.4% from triples.

The Bucks led 38-25 after the first quarter. Eventually, things fell apart later. While the Bucks led 71–66 at halftime, a poor third quarter performance doomed them, giving the Hawks the lead for good.

The team sits at 26-35, there is still time to make a run and at least clinch one of the play-in spots. Yet the Bucks are five games behind the Hawks for the final play-in spot, leading many to believe the team will miss the playoffs. Antetokounmpo acknowledged the situation and questioned what the plan was.

“We have to decide, do we wave the white flag, or do we come together and try to play hard and push for the last 21 games?” Antetokounmpo asked.

The Bucks will have a few days to prepare for their next game, which will be at home against the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

It’s looked hopeless at many points this season, but somehow, the Milwaukee Bucks are still alive in the playoff race — especially now that Giannis Antetokounmpo is back in action after a long absence of more than a month due to a calf injury.

Although it is mathematically possible for the Bucks to make the play-in tournament, as at the time of writing, they are only four games behind the Atlanta Hawks in the standings, the fact that they are not in the playoff picture is a clear indication that the team is not very good right now.

There’s no denying Antetokounmpo’s greatness, but the prolonged absence of a superstar shouldn’t mean the team will collapse around him. For the Bucks, they have collapsed most of the season when Antetokounmpo is on the mend. They’ve gone 11-18 without him, and that won’t cut it.

Of course, the good news is that Antetokounmpo remains on the roster, even though he was on the trade block just a month ago and it looked like a blockbuster trade involving him would finally materialize.

It simply means that the Bucks are still on the clock, as there is not zero chance that Antetokounmpo will commit his future to the team despite his disappointing short-term to medium-term outlook.

And while they are limited in the changes they can make to the roster, perhaps the Bucks can start convincing Antetokounmpo that they mean business by cleaning house – starting with the departure of head coach Doc Rivers.

Bucks need to start fresh, move on from Doc Rivers

Despite having a 30–13 record, the Bucks made the surprise decision to fire Adrian Griffin and replace him with Doc Rivers as the team’s head coach in 2024. They finished the season under .500 under Rivers (they went 19–20) and lost in the first round of the playoffs against the eventual conference finalists Indiana Pacers.

Now, this isn’t going to turn into Griffin’s defense. By all accounts, the Bucks locker room questioned his strategy because Griffin had not maximized the team’s personnel. But reports revealed that when Griffin called his players out he took it in stride, although the fact that he did meant that his respect for them was fractured from the start.

Still, Griffin coached a terrible defense, and it was clear Antetokounmpo was growing tired of his schemes. They replaced Griffin with Rivers, who at least has the respect of people in the locker room.

This may be Rivers’ only save at this stage of his coaching career. Everyone knows the story with Rivers: He won a title with the Boston Celtics in 2008, maintains a sense of professionalism in the locker room that commands respect from everyone on the team, and he’s a consistent win producer, at least in the regular season.

Rivers has had his fair share of black eyes in the playoffs. He is the only head coach in NBA history to lead multiple 3–1 playoff series. His star-studded teams perform poorly under the bright lights of the postseason. But that’s all moot when the Bucks team he’s currently coaching couldn’t even make the start of the postseason.

Some Bucks fans may be wondering why Rivers hasn’t been fired yet. The results have not been there, and there has been nothing but disappointment in the Cream City since the team brought him in. It’s clear his voice still has influence in the locker room, and Antetokounmpo is at least there to stay with him unlike Griffin.

The Bucks’ shortcomings this season aren’t really Rivers’ fault. The team he is currently coaching is not very good anyway. But he’s not really adding wins to the team. Some of his rotation decisions recently were surprising; Why did Kyle Kuzma not play at all in their recent loss to the Boston Celtics? Why was Ryan Rollins, of all people, benched upon Antetokounmpo’s return?

It’s time for a fresh start for the Bucks under the tutelage of a well-known coach who knows how to handle a locker room with big egos. And for once, the Bucks will have to enlist the services of a new voice, an up-and-coming assistant who has paid his dues during his time in the NBA.

Why Mika Nori deserves a chance in Milwaukee?

Nouri has been an assistant coach in the NBA for 17 seasons, and he is currently part of the Minnesota Timberwolves coaching staff under head coach Chris Finch. He is the main assistant of the team, as he replaces Finch if he is out or misses time due to personal reasons or injury.

Most accounts state that Nori is adept at managing game situations, meaning his main strength is adjusting to what he sees on the court. Now, the head coaching job requires much more than mastering such skills. Still, his tactical plans could be what brings Antetokounmpo on board for at least the next few years.

If there’s one thing Antetokounmpo wants from a coach, it’s defensive consistency and communication. Nori provides both; Players have appreciated the Timberwolves assistant’s ability to build relationships with them, and he has been instrumental in crafting a Minnesota defense that routinely ranks top-10 in the NBA.

Given that the Bucks lack scoring weapons around Antetokounmpo, getting it done on defense should be priority number one for them. They are currently ranked 24th in that department, so that won’t make the cut. They have solid individual pieces on defense, Kevin Porter Jr. and Rollins are very disruptive, and Myles Turner has a long history of adequate rim protection, but it hasn’t come together under Rivers.

Now, the Bucks may need an experienced head coach to reassign Antetokounmpo. But Milwaukee needs to avoid retreading head coaches at all costs. And there may be no better candidate for the potential Bucks head coaching vacancy than Nouri.

Giannis continues to be the Bucks’ offensive engine whenever he is on the floor. Through 31 games this season, he is averaging 27.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 63.6 percent from the field. He’s also converting 37.5 percent from three-point range and 65.9 percent from the free-throw line. Additionally, the two-time MVP contributed 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, continuing to make an impact on both ends of the floor.

When Antetokounmpo plays, the Bucks operate with force and structure. His downhill pressure breaks down defenses and creates open looks for teammates across the perimeter.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury Status vs. Hawks

Several additional names are included on the Bucks’ injury report. Alex Antetokounmpo and Cormac Ryan are out on a two-way deal, while Taurean Prince is sidelined after neck surgery.

As for Atlanta, the Hawks injury report lists Raze Dennis and Asa Newell as questionable while on G League assignment.

Still, Antetokounmpo’s presence matters most. Atlanta will look to continue its winning streak and strengthen its position in the play-in race. Meanwhile, Milwaukee is hoping its superstar can help reverse a recent decline.

So when it comes to the question of whether Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing tonight against the Hawks, the answer currently leans towards yes, as he does not appear to be on the injury report.

On January 23, Giannis Antetokounmpo found himself suffering from a strained calf after the Milwaukee Bucks’ close loss against the Denver Nuggets. It was the second time this season that Antetokounmpo missed significant time with a calf strain and contributed to Milwaukee’s troubles early in the season.

But on Monday night, in a clash against the Boston Celtics, Antetokounmpo returned to action. While the Bucks still couldn’t put up much of a fight against the red-hot Celtics, ultimately losing by 27 points, 108-81, the fact that Antetokounmpo returned to action and had 19 points and 11 rebounds in 25 minutes of play is a good sign for Milwaukee — especially when, before the trade deadline, it looked like Giannis might have made his final appearance for Milwaukee in some time. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks face all-important crossroads

The Bucks being uncompetitive is very frustrating for Antetokounmpo, who wants to compete year after year. Milwaukee finally retained their franchise cornerstone, but it looks like his days with the team are numbered.

Milwaukee was so weak in its return game that only three players scored in double figures – Antetokounmpo, Ousmane Dieng and Bobby Portis. Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr.’s outing was a nightmare. Even Giannis went 7-18 from the field – an uncharacteristically poor field goal percentage for him.

With the offseason now upon us, it’s now or never for the Bucks to try to convince the franchise’s all-time great player to stay.

The teams that were showing heavy interest in Antetokounmpo never once felt that Giannis being traded in the middle of the season was a real possibility, and the Bucks informed him of this hours before the trade deadline.

Without Giannis, the Bucks have actually had quite a bit of success, winning eight of their last 15 games and moving within three games of the Charlotte Hornets for the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference standings. Cam Thomas, Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr. have been great playing off each other in the Bucks’ backcourt.

The Bucks are still attempting to make the playoffs this season, and Giannis has made it clear to the organization that he has no intentions of sitting out the remainder of the year. This is why the organization is not following in the footsteps of those finishing at the bottom of the league standings and conceding the season.

With Antetokounmpo returning to the lineup on Monday night against Boston, the Bucks will look to keep their momentum in a positive direction. After their game against the Celtics, who are playing their second game in as many nights, Milwaukee will enter a number of games against some teams with losing records and other teams battling major injury concerns.

There’s potentially a way to find success and move up in the standings, which is why the Bucks and Antetokounmpo are still fighting entering March.

In 30 games this season, Giannis is averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, while shooting 64.5 percent from the floor. Missing more than 17 games this season resulted in him being ineligible for season-ending awards and honors, meaning Antetokounmpo’s streak of seven consecutive All-NBA first-team selections and nine straight All-NBA selections overall has ended.
