5 Las Vegas Raiders Whose April Minicamp Appearance Tells Us Everything

The Las Vegas Raiders voluntary veteran minicamp runs April 21-23, two days before the start of the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. No one should come forward. That’s the whole purpose of calling it voluntary.

That’s why it matters so much who does it.

Clint Kubiak is a first-year head coach who inherits a roster that went 3-14 last season. He needs to know who bought him before he takes a single regular season snap. Players also know this. Coming to a voluntary camp in April, right before draft weekend, when the entire football world is looking elsewhere, is a statement. So stay at home.

Here are five Raiders whose appearance in April will tell us more than anything they said in a press conference.

1. Max Crosby

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. Crosby appeared for the first round of workouts on April 7, which was encouraging after everything that happened with the zero-Baltimore trade. But step one is meetings and raises. Minicamp is different. It’s on-field work and Crosby is still recovering from knee surgery in January to repair a torn meniscus.

His agent has said he is ahead of schedule. If Crosby is on the field, even in a limited capacity, on April 21-23, it sends a message to this locker room that goes far beyond his physical recovery. It tells every player on this roster that the guy with the most complaints about him is still the first one to come through the door. Kubiak can’t produce that kind of leadership. Either Crosby provides it, or he doesn’t.

2. Tyree Wilson

This is the one I am watching most closely. Tyree Wilson is entering a contract year, after which the Raiders will almost certainly not pick up his fifth-year option. His draft stock coming out of Texas A&M was skyrocketing — No. 7 overall pick in 2023 — and it’s fair to say his first three NFL seasons haven’t matched that billing. He’s a rotational piece in a 3-4 defense that just added QT Pay and still keeps Crosby at the top of the depth chart.

Wilson showing up to a voluntary minicamp under a new defensive coordinator with his roster spot and his future on the line tells me he understands this moment. Staying at home will give me the opposite results. With Rob Leonard setting up a plan that requires buy-in at every level of the front seven, there’s no place to hide in this minicamp for anyone competing for snaps.

3. Cancer Cousins

Kirk Cousins is getting $20 million fully guaranteed to be a bridge in front of Fernando Mendoza. He reunited with his former coordinator Kubiak, and has said all the right things publicly since signing. But before Mendoza gets into the building, what Cousins does over the next few months will define how that quarterback room really plays out in 2026.

Showing up next week and throwing to receivers, working through Kubiak’s system, getting comfortable in a new offense and a new city — that’s the veteran leadership the Raiders are paying him for. Cousins knows how to be professional. This is where he proves it matters in Las Vegas, just like it did everywhere else.

4. Brock Bowers

Brock Bowers returned from a PCL injury last season and still had 64 catches, 680 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. He is 22 years old and already one of the best players in football. This minicamp isn’t about Bowers proving anything — it’s about him and Cousins starting to build that chemistry between him and Cousins to really make Kubiak’s offense work before training camp in July.

Kubiak is an offensive coach who loves his tight ends. Bowers is the most important offensive weapon on this roster. They’re both building relationships early — in April, before most teams get anywhere near that kind of work — getting the kind of head start that pays off in September. Bowers is showing cases. Very.

5. Jackson Powers-Johnson

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Las Vegas Raiders
Kirby Lee-Images Images

Here’s one that might surprise people. Jackson Powers-Johnson was a second-round pick in 2024 who began the season on injured reserve after breaking his fibula in training camp. He bounced back and played solid football in the second half of the year and now the addition of Tyler Linderbaum at center gives the Raiders arguably the best interior offensive line they have had in years.

But Linderbaum and Powers-Johnson never played together. Cousins never played behind any of them. April minicamp is the first real opportunity for that unit to begin working as a group, even in a non-contact setting. Powers-Johnson being present and engaged, working through alignments, and getting comfortable with Linderbaum next to him makes sense for an offensive line that was historically bad in 2025 and needs to be dramatically better for this offense to work.

This draft will get everyone’s attention on April 23-25. But what happens in Henderson on April 21-23 will matter just as much for where this team goes. Voluntary does not mean unimportant. In Kubiak’s first year, it means quite the opposite.

Washington Wizards forced to apologize after cruel April Fool’s prank

The Washington Wizards found themselves on the defensive after an April Fools’ Day prank during their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, which drew serious reaction from fans and commentators alike.

In the skit, three contestants attempted to make a shot at half court while blindfolded for a $10,000 prize. The host instructed the crowd to cheer wildly as if the last contestant had succeeded, even if the ball was missed.

The host said, “It wouldn’t be Gee-Wiz’s April Fool’s Mania without a little bit of fun. Not saying they wouldn’t make it, but I think the first two might miss out.” “The last contestant, we’ll pretend the ball went in the basket. So as soon as it hits the ground, go crazy like they just won $10,000.”

Be happy, they did it. Everyone got into a lather, and one fan was cruelly duped into thinking he had won a big cash prize.

Wizards apologizes after viral April Fool’s prank leaves fan thinking he won $10,000

Who in Blue Hell, in the corporate offices, gave the green light to that joke? What a magician you are.

Critics, including former ESPN anchor Jemele Hill, called the targeting of a fan who paid good money to watch one of the NBA’s worst teams “disgusting.” Others called it insulting and tone-deaf, with some comparing the fan’s apparent frustration to a scene from the Batman film.

The reaction was terrible. And Wizards issued an apology, claiming everyone involved was in on the joke.

“We apologize for last night’s April Fools’ joke that left many people wondering if we misled any fans,” the team said. “This play, involving our mascot and other members of our performance team, was scripted and intended to celebrate this day.”

“All participants were in on the joke, but we missed the mark. Our fans are our priority, and we are committed to providing a positive experience for everyone attending our games.”

Well, that explains why fans were such a good sport about this stupid prank. He apparently also got himself a signed jersey and some courtside seats for next season.

Great. This means he’ll be able to see what many would consider a huge joke – the Wizards – up close and personal.

WWE will induct another celebrity into the Hall of Fame in April, but it matters

A new report claims WWE will be inducting another celebrity into its Hall of Fame next month, but this time it’s a nice honoree.

Celebrities being involved in professional wrestling is nothing new, and over the course of its 40-plus years of existence, WWE has mastered the art of using them to benefit the company. WWE loves to include famous people from other industries in its content, seeing music stars like Cyndi Lauper in the 1980s, Lawrence Taylor in the 1990s, and more recently Bad Bunny and Jelly Roll.

They appreciate him so much that they even have a celebrity wing in their Hall of Fame. However, this has always troubled traditional wrestling fans. Especially since many of the people involved, like Drew Carey, William Shatner, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, didn’t really have any meaningful impact on the company and the industry.

Well, it looks like there will be a new celebrity inducted at the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony. But this man actually deserves respect.

Dennis Rodman to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

On Friday morning, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania surprisingly broke the news that Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is expected to be immortalized in the WWE HOF ahead of WrestleMania 42 next month.

For quite some time, WWE has attempted to make its Hall of Fame a true hall of fame for professional wrestling in general. They have included many industry veterans who had no major impact on the brand or who never even performed for the company. Rodman, along with Andy Kaufman, will be the second celebrity to be inducted into WWE’s HOF without appearing for the company.

As mentioned above, most celebrity inductions into the WWE HOF are watched by a select group of fans, but Rodman made a huge impact on the industry in a short period of time in the late 1990s. When WCW was hot, the NBA bad boy broke the mold of celebrity appearances by joining the villainous faction, the nWo.

It was a match made in heaven for the company and the group as it garnered massive mainstream media attention and helped elevate WCW as the top wrestling promotion in the world. Since the great forward was a top star on the Chicago Bulls, the best team in the NBA at the time.

Rodman would compete in three matches for WCW, including a highly successful crossover clash that saw him team with wrestling icon Hulk Hogan against Diamond Dallas Page and his NBA rival, Utah Jazz great Karl Malone. Of the various celebrities in the WWE HOF, Rodman arguably had the biggest impact on the industry.

Nottingham Forest confident of Brazil staff for player recovery – April now targeted

Nottingham Forest are closely managing John’s recovery.

However, the club’s approach now points towards a broader strategy. It is up to the Brazil national team staff as the goalkeeper looks to return in April.

The 29-year-old player is in the final stages of his rehabilitation undergoing knee surgery In January. While the outlines of his temporary move to train at Botafogo have already been outlined, the thinking behind it is becoming clearer.

Nottingham Forest are not backing out of this process. Instead, they seem comfortable allowing John to complete this phase with the medical and performance staff who know him well – both at Botafogo and within the Brazil setup.

Brazil’s workers play central role in recovery

A key figure in that process is Claudio Taffarel. As confirmed by a Brazilian journalist wow fatThe goalkeeping coach is actively monitoring John’s recovery as the player works towards full fitness.

Taffarel’s involvement holds additional significance from a Premier League perspective. The former Brazil international previously worked as Liverpool’s goalkeeping coach, giving him a strong understanding of the physical demands and rhythm of English football.

That connection helps bridge the gap between club and country. It also ensures that John’s recovery is in line with what is expected of him when he returns to action in England.

The decision to locate this final phase in Rio de Janeiro reflects that confidence. John spent a successful spell at Botafogo. He remains familiar with the club’s atmosphere, staff and facilities.

Comeback timeline and World Cup race

different from last updateNow there is increasing clarity regarding his return. The hope is that John can return to the field in April, provided there are no setbacks in this final stage.

That timeline is important. Brazil announced their latest squad for upcoming friendlies this week, and John was not included. The selected goalkeepers were Alisson, Bento and Ederson. Still the door is not closed.

John has already received a call-up for the end of 2025 and remains on the radar. With the World Cup squad expected to be finalized in mid-May, a full and timely recovery could put them back into contention.

What does this mean for nottingham forest

nottingham forest

For Nottingham Forest, the priority is steady and reliable returns. Even before the injury, John had established himself as first choice. He started five consecutive Premier League matches and made appearances in other competitions.

Allowing him to complete this stage in Brazil does not indicate distance from the situation. Instead, it suggests a pragmatic approach. This is the person who uses the strongest possible support network to maximize their chances of returning to the right level.

If the plan works, Forest regain a reliable option between the positions. At the same time, John also keeps alive a realistic path to a return to the Brazil team at a crucial moment in the international calendar.
