‘Surgery on the table’ for Blue Jays starter Another blow to the pitching staff

This is another blow to the battered and bruised pitching staff of the Toronto Blue Jays. As they await final word on the next steps for injured pitcher Jose Berrios, manager John Schneider says “surgery is on the table.”

“At this point it is an option,” Schneider said Friday. “We’re just trying to figure out if this is the path we’re going down.”

Although Berrios met with renowned elbow surgeon Dr. Keith Meister earlier this week, the manager says as far as he knows, there is no ligament damage involved. Of course, Schneider is not a doctor, nor does he play doctors on TV (or in Clubhouse).

However, he did mention “loose bodies”, as noted by renowned author Keegan Matheson. It seems like we’re still talking about the stress fracture that Berrios suffered during spring training with no ill effects. But he has had some elbow pain with low velocity in his last two rehab starts.

“He’s trying to make the best decision now and for the long term,” Schneider said, indicating that the 31-year-old pitcher will have the final say on which path to take. “I think he’s been in a little back-and-forth on this, and just wants to get it right.”

Berrios’ surgery decision looming, and contract decision after season

This is an even more important decision for his future because Berrios has opted out after the season. The seven-year, $131 million contract he signed with Toronto in 2021 will pay him $24 million apiece for two more years. Unless he decides to opt out and become a free agent. But as his injuries continue to worsen, it is becoming a controversial issue.

What makes it even more difficult for Berrios is that he has been the picture of health throughout his major league career until this season. He didn’t miss a start for six consecutive years (32 starts per season) until 2025… when he missed just twice. In this era of pitcher injuries and Tommy John surgeries, this is truly a remarkable accomplishment.

But in the ultimate proof that no pitcher can escape injury forever these days, Berrios faces a career-defining moment any day now.

Blow for Arne Slott – Liverpool’s right-hand man set for technical directorship role

liverpool Feyenoord are considering adding assistant manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst to their supervisory board.

1908.nl report special information The Liverpool coach is on the agenda of his former club as they look to make sweeping changes this summer.

Feyenoord needs Liverpool’s coach

They report that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is ‘clearly being considered’ to fill the position left by the departure of Szak Troost. The Dutch club believe he will add ‘football expertise’ to the supervisory body.

Troost resigned in February and has not been replaced since. The former defender had served as a commissioner on the board for seven years. Now there is a fifth seat that needs to be filled and the Liverpool coach is on the list.

Van Bronckhorst has also been linked with a potential technical role at the club. That remains a possibility, but it would likely be a position as a Technical Manager supporting the Technical Director. However, he has not been appointed yet.

According to club insiders, Van Bronckhorst wants a role away from the ‘daily spotlight’. He would prefer to work in the background. Both roles, technical advisory or supervisory board, will allow him to do so.

Van Bronckhorst is ready to negotiate

Wire, via FR12.nlThere is also information about the Liverpool coach. The newspaper reports that he is aware of ‘concrete interest’ from Feyenoord this summer.

For now and until the end of the season, his focus is on Liverpool. But importantly, he is also open to talks regarding a return to the Netherlands and Feyenoord.

However, he would like clarity on the club’s future plans and sporting direction before taking up the position. Perhaps they will be made clear during any talks that are yet to take place.

However, the fact that he is willing to negotiate has opened the door for Feyenoord. They are considering their former star for a number of positions, with it seemingly likely that the same will happen with the Liverpool coach soon.

Manager confirms latest injury blow for incoming Chelsea player – a cause for concern for the Blues

last September, chelsea An agreement has been reached with Strasbourg for Emmanuel Emegha to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Bluco owns both Chelsea and Ligue 1 sides and this connection facilitates easy transfers.

Liam Rosenior was the Strasbourg manager when the Blues agreed terms for the striker’s sale. At the time, this did not please the French club’s supporters, who made their feelings clear.

In September 2025, Rosenior said that the player was angry at reaction From fans of the French club.

Last season, he scored 14 goals and three assists and his form for Strasbourg earned him a call up from the Netherlands in November. That same month, the player said he’s happy to be safe A future move towards the Premier League.

Injury concern for incoming Chelsea player

The Netherlands international’s current fitness status will not please Chelsea.

The Netherlands international returned from a long injury break last month. Now they have suffered the latest blow with RC Strasbourg’s 2-1 defeat to Toulouse FC on Sunday.

In the 82nd minute, Emmanuel Emegha came in place of Sebastian Nnasi and suffered a new blow.

Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neill confirmed this, and ICI Alsace confirmed this. xFormerly known as Twitter, to broadcast his comments. The 23-year-old is unlikely to feature in Thursday’s UEFA Conference League semi-final clash against Rayo Vallecano.

“I have not yet received the report from the medical staff. But if you have hamstring pain on Sunday, it seems complicated that you will be able to play on Thursday. We have managed to win games without Emma this season.” He said.

Team Also release further comments from O’Neill regarding the incoming Chelsea striker.

The manager explained that he wanted to avoid risks with some players for tomorrow’s match, but his decision backfired with Emegha.

“If I fielded my best players, we would beat Toulouse, but the medical staff told us not to do that.” O’Neill explained.

“He [Emegha] He could have played fifteen minutes, I gave him ten minutes thinking he could help us and reduce the risk, but he got injured.

Our Opinion: Big concern for the Blues

Emmanuel Emegha has struggled with muscle injuries this season. Last August, he suffered a hamstring injury which kept him out of action for 29 days.

In December, the frontman suffered a muscle strain, due to which he spent 113 days away from the field and returned to the field only in April.

Now he has suffered another hamstring injury and it is unclear whether he will be able to play again this season. Regular muscle problems so far this season should be a concern for Chelsea.

Timberwolves deal devastating blow to Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo

The Minnesota Timberwolves picked up a dominant and impressive win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. But Sunday morning, they received devastating news that their entire starting backcourt was out indefinitely.

Superstar Anthony Edwards will be out for “several weeks”.

Edwards was diagnosed with a bone spur and hyperextension of his left knee. Fortunately, imaging revealed no damage to the ligament, but still, the team will be without him for the foreseeable future.

Edwards is the engine that drives the T-Wolves forward, and now his absence will really force the rest of the cast to dig deep. They were able to do just that in their 112-96 win in Game 4 against the Nuggets.

DiVincenzo joins Edwards on the injured list.

To make matters worse, the Timberwolves also lost Edwards’ backcourt partner Donte DiVincenzo. His injury is much more serious, now identified as a torn Achilles.

His season is over with a long recovery. DiVincenzo will likely miss the entire 2026–27 season.

The T-Wolves totaled 40 points and seven assists from the lineup going forward. They need only one more win over the Nuggets to advance to the second round. But their next matchup, likely against the San Antonio Spurs, will be extremely difficult to climb without their entire starting backcourt.

Stars blow chance to take commanding lead, go wild in OT in Game 4

The Dallas Stars were one shot away from sending the rival Minnesota Wild to the brink of elimination.

Instead the Western Conference First Round would return to American Airlines Center tied at two games apiece after Matthew Boldy scored at 19:31 of the first OT, giving the Wild a 3–2 victory at Grand Casino Arena.

Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen scored once each, and goaltender Jake Oettinger made 40 saves for the Stars.

Dallas did what it needed to by reclaiming home-ice advantage with its double-overtime win in Game 3. But he blew two one-goal leads, and so allowed a great chance to take a 3-1 lead by allowing Marcus Foligno’s goal with just 5:20 remaining in regulation.

Game 5 is Tuesday at Dallas at 7 p.m.

Here are the takeaways from Game 4:

Jason Robertson and the Stars’ power play stay red hot

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild
Nick Wosica-Imagen Images

Dallas entered the game Saturday on a special-teams burner, and its PK didn’t allow a single goal and its man-advantage remained very hot.

Both of Dallas’ goals came on the power play, with Robertson scoring his second man-up goal and Heiskanen scoring his first goal of the series.

“Our power play has been good,” Stars coach Glenn Gulutzan said after the game.

The Stars’ power play is now 8 of 19 (42.1%) in four games and second only to the Anaheim Ducks among all teams. The Ducks have 11 less PP than the Stars due to one less game.

Dallas has scored four consecutive goals on the power play. The Stars have found success moving the puck down high and then taking advantage of diagonal passes and beating Jesper Wallstad on sharp-angle shots – which is what Robertson, Heiskanen and Matt Duchene did on their own goals.

Robertson has now scored in every game of the series and is the only one of the three Star players with multiple PPG in the series. At this point the Stars need to figure out how to score at even strength, as they only have three goals at 5-on-5.

“We just couldn’t get any puck luck,” Gulutzan said. “We just have to start over to finish something.”

Jake Oettinger almost saved the stars

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild
Nick Wosica-Imagen Images

Oettinger has lost Stars games in the past, but their goalie wasn’t the reason for their loss on Saturday.

In Game 4 the Wild finished with a 3.84 expected goals against and outscored the Stars 24–17 in the third period and overtime. Foligno’s goal came from a rebound, where the Minnesota forward got over Oettinger and deposited the puck into the empty cage. Brock Faber’s goal was a shot worth watching.

Oettinger’s numbers in the series may not look impressive, but he has been excellent since Dallas’ 6-1 loss in Game 1. The Stars’ franchise goalie has a 1.38 all-situation goals-against average and a .924 save percentage over his last three games and could use some extra support from his teammates.

“I thought he made some massive saves,” Gulutzan said. “You need it this time of year, and he gave it to us.”

Oettinger made 10-belle saves after 10-belle saves throughout OT – Minnesota could only beat him when Boldy tried to kick the puck for a disallowed goal. But Boldy then redirected Jared Spurgeon’s shot from the point.

The Wild, Stars series deserves to be equal

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Dallas Stars at Minnesota Wild
Nick Wosica-Imagen Images

Game 1 was lopsided, but the series went as we all expected.

The last two games have gone to overtime, including a double-OT affair in Game 3. The investigation is strict. The atmosphere is noisy. Both teams are highly-skilled. This series should be tied at two points after four matches.

It’s easier said than done, but Stars fans should try to enjoy the ride of Stanley Cup playoff hockey. This series seems destined to go seven games, and even Gulutzan has acknowledged that.

“There are a lot of guys playing good hockey in this series,” Gulutzan said. “It’s just two good hockey teams.”

Yasser Asprilla’s disaster continues after Watford – new blow for the player

Yasser Asprilla
Yasser Asprilla of Yasser Asprilla of Yasser FC during the UEFA Champions League match between Yasser FC and Liverpool FC at the Estadi de Montilivi on December 10, 2024 in Verona, Spain.

life after watford It hasn’t been easy for Yasser Asprilla, and it’s not getting any better in the short term.

girona newspaper Today report on the 22-year-old and the latest blow for him during his loan spell at Galatasaray.

Yasser Asprilla is currently on loan with Galatasaray after leaving Verona at the end of the January transfer window.

Verona’s problems for Yasser Asprilla

He has struggled at the Spanish club since joining from Watford in a €18m deal in August 2024. He previously scored seven goals and ten assists in 86 games for the Hornets after arriving for €3m in 2022.

But it didn’t work in SpainWhere he has provided four goals and two assists in 50 games. Galatasaray’s situation has worsened, with no goals or assists in nine games so far.

Verona were hoping that Galatasaray would sign him permanently in the summer. The loan deal includes an option to buy for €23m. Now, however, Galatasaray are assuming he will return to Spain at the end of the campaign.

This is made even stronger by the fact that Yasser Asprilla is injured at the moment. His knee is swollen and he has already missed his last game. It is not clear when he will return from the problem.

It is the latest blow for the player who has failed to make the cut in Turkey. After their difficult run in Verona, this is another low. His career after Watford did not go as he, or perhaps anyone, expected.

big summer transfer window

It was expected that the midfielder would continue to progress at Verona after establishing himself at Vicarage Road, but he now looks a bit stagnant. This injury won’t help on that front.

Big summer is coming. Galatasaray probably doesn’t want him and Verona to feel the same way. They were certainly happy to send him out in January and were also hoping for a permanent exit.

They may now need to find other suitors as they try to get their money back after spending big to get Yasser Asprilla from Watford two years ago.

NXT legend delivers surprise blow to die-hard fans of black-and-gold brand

Carmelo Hayes has spoken out about WWE NXT fans, saying that the crowd that helped make him one of the brand’s top stars is ultimately loyal to no one.

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Hayes reflected on his time in NXT from 2021 to 2024 and gave an unfiltered perspective on the nature of that audience and what it takes to survive in that environment.

“That crowd is still the same today,” Hayes said. “They’re never yours. They’re hot right now, and I knew it and I understood it and it was one of those things where I even did a promo with Trick Williams where it’s like they love you and then when the next guy’s turn comes, they’ll switch on you, and it’s true. That crowd, they’ll build you up but they’ll also break you down.”

During his NXT run, Hayes built one of the most decorated resumes in the recent history of the brand. He won the NXT Breakout Tournament in 2021, captured the NXT Cruiserweight Championship – becoming the last holder of that title – and held the NXT North American Championship twice before winning the NXT Championship. Despite that level of success, Hayes was clear-eyed about crowd loyalty throughout.

The reference to Trick Williams is particularly notable and will be remembered by longtime NXT fans. Hayes and Williams were closely associated during their NXT run, with their partnership and eventual rivalry becoming one of the brand’s best storylines. Hayes saw firsthand how the NXT crowd changed their love, which gave him an understanding of how quickly audiences can move on.

Hayes has been on the main roster as a member of the SmackDown brand since April 2024. He recently completed a run as United States champion. As for Williams, he has been a bright spot on the SmackDown roster and will challenge Sami Zayn for the US Title at WrestleMania.

Vancouver Canucks blow early lead to Hurricanes in 6-4 loss

In what has become a familiar result, the Vancouver Canucks lost again. This time, it was a 6–4 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes at Rogers Arena.

The Canucks held the first-period lead for a while. Nevertheless, Nikolaj Ehlers scored a hat trick for Carolina, including an empty-netter with 14 seconds remaining, concluding the victory.

The Hurricanes came out flying and put the pressure on Vancouver almost immediately, with Carolina outscoring the Canucks 12-1 in the first nine minutes. Still, the Canucks answered, at least early on, and for any fans looking for a glimmer of hope, that part matters.

Andrei Svechnikov opened the scoring on a Carolina power play 1:17 into the game, but Marco Rossi tied it on the man advantage at 16:31, and Filip Hronek later scored to put the Canucks up 2–1 before intermission.

Hronek finished with a goal and two assists, while Elias Pettersson added two assists in one of Vancouver’s better offensive nights in weeks.

when things went wrong

It broke in the second period. again.

Sean Walker made it 2-2 at 2:30, Ehlers made it 3-2 at 4:19, and Sebastian Aho pushed it to 4-2 on another quick chance at 11:53.

NHL.com noted that Kevin Lankinen was pulled after allowing four goals on 22 shots, and the switch did not settle things as Ehlers scored on the first shot faced by Nikita Tolopilo for a 5–2 lead less than a minute later.

That explosive sequence was fatal. The Canucks pushed back, but the hole was already deep.

Brock Boeser scored on a 5-on-3 late in the second, then Nils Hoglander made it 5-4 on Pettersson’s one-timer at 6:45 of the third.

For a moment, it looked like the Canucks might steal some of the chaos back. Brandon Bussey made a late save for Carolina, and Ehlers completed a hat trick with an empty-net goal.

A slim bright spot for Canucks fans

NHL: Carolina Hurricanes at Vancouver Canucks
bob frid-images

The one real positive was the power play. The Canucks scored twice with the man advantage, the first time the Canucks have done so since January 2 against Seattle.

Foote said the group is working on it, and with so many bad nights, an increase in confidence is at least something to point to.

It’s also the second 10-goal Canucks game this season, following a wild 8-5 loss at Florida in November. It’s not exactly the kind of category Canucks fans want to revisit, but it does underline how loose the game has become.

nhl draft lottery update

The Canucks sit at 43 points, and the NHL Draft Lottery conversation is no longer a background topic. It’s front and center now.

The standings changed Wednesday night and St. Louis beat Seattle 3-2, moving the Rangers to 31st with 54 points, while the Canucks remained buried in the high-pick mix.

With the March 7 trade deadline approaching, this matters. Advancing in the playoffs no longer seems realistic, and the conversation has clearly shifted toward what can be built from here.

Naomi Osaka Out of Australian Open 2026: Big Blow for Tennis Fans | REACTION & Updates

Naomi Osaka Out of Australian Open 2026: A Massive Blow for Indian Tennis Fans

In a development that has sent shockwaves through the global sporting community, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has officially withdrawn from the Australian Open 2026. For the millions of tennis enthusiasts in India who wake up in the early hours of the morning to catch the action from Melbourne Park, this news comes as a significant disappointment.

Osaka, a two-time winner in Melbourne (2019, 2021), has long been a fan favourite in the Indian subcontinent. Her powerful baseline play and vocal advocacy for mental health have earned her a massive following among young Indian athletes. Her absence leaves a void in the women’s draw that will be hard to fill.

Why is Naomi Osaka Missing the Australian Open 2026?

While the official statement from Osaka’s camp cited “fitness and recovery timelines,” experts suggest that the Japanese superstar is prioritizing long-term health over a rushed return to the hard courts. Following her return to the tour in previous seasons after a maternity break, Osaka has been candid about the physical toll of competing at the highest level.

For Indian fans tracking live tennis scores, the absence of Osaka’s name on the scoreboard means the “Happy Slam” loses one of its most marketable and explosive stars. With her out of the picture, the path becomes slightly clearer for defending champions and rising stars, but the tournament’s star power certainly takes a hit.

Reaction from the Tennis World

The reaction on Indian social media has been one of collective heartbreak. On platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Indian fans expressed their sadness, with many noting that the Australian Open 2026 would feel different without her presence.

“Melbourne Park and Naomi Osaka are synonymous. It’s sad we won’t see those cross-court forehands this year,” posted one prominent Indian sports blogger. International commentators have also chimed in, noting that Osaka’s withdrawal shifts the betting odds significantly toward players like Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka.

Impact on Tournament Dynamics and Tennis Scores

With Osaka out, the seeding for the women’s singles will see a reshuffle. Indian viewers who closely follow tennis scores will need to keep an eye on the qualifiers and “lucky losers” who might now find an unexpected opportunity in the main draw.

From an Indian perspective, the focus may now shift more heavily toward the doubles categories, where Indian veterans often shine, and toward the top seeds who will look to dominate in the absence of a former world number one.

Conclusion

The news of Naomi Osaka being out of the Australian Open 2026 is undoubtedly a setback for the tournament’s prestige and for fans worldwide. However, the Japanese star has always been strategic about her career longevity. While she will be missed on the blue courts of Melbourne, her decision reflects the modern athlete’s focus on peak physical condition. For Indian fans, the 2026 season will remain a must-watch, but it will certainly feel quieter without the roar of an Osaka comeback story.

Dubai Championships 2026: Major Blow for Fans as Star Players Withdraw

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2026, a cornerstone of the ATP and WTA calendars, has hit an unexpected snag. Known for its glitz, glamour, and high-octane tennis, the tournament is currently making headlines for the wrong reasons. In a significant development for tennis enthusiasts, several top-tier players have announced their withdrawal from the event, leaving fans and organizers in a state of disappointment.

A String of Unexpected Withdrawals

For Indian tennis fans who often travel to the UAE to witness their icons in action, the news comes as a bitter pill. While the Dubai Championships usually boasts one of the strongest fields outside of the Grand Slams, the 2026 entry list has seen a sudden thinning. Recent reports indicate that multiple top-10 ranked players have pulled out citing injury concerns and “scheduling fatigue.”

While the tournament organizers have yet to release a full revised bracket, the absence of key marquee names means the “star power” of the event has taken a temporary hit. For the Dubai Championships 2026, these withdrawals are not just about the loss of talent on the court, but also about the impact on ticket sales and global broadcasting interest.

Why are Stars Skipping Dubai?

The modern tennis circuit is grueling. As we look at the 2026 season, the physical demands on athletes have reached a breaking point. With a packed schedule involving mandatory Masters 1000 events and the proximity of other high-profile tournaments, many players are choosing to prioritize recovery over participation.

For Indian followers of the sport, the lack of a “Big Three” presence or the absence of rising stars like Alcaraz or Sinner (depending on the specific withdrawal list) changes the dynamic of the tournament. However, this also opens the door for underdogs and “dark horse” players to make a deep run in the desert.

Impact on the Indian Fanbase

Dubai is often considered a “home away from home” for Indian tennis fans. With a massive Indian diaspora in the UAE, the stands are usually draped in the tricolour. The withdrawal of star players often leads to a shift in interest toward the doubles category, where Indian players traditionally excel. Fans will now be looking closely at the tennis news regarding wildcard entries and whether any Indian icons will be promoted to the main draw.

Conclusion

The Dubai Championships 2026 may have faced a major blow with these withdrawals, but the tournament remains a prestigious stop on the tour. While fans might miss seeing certain legends on the purple courts of the Aviation Club, the event still promises high-quality tennis and an electric atmosphere. It serves as a reminder of the rising physical toll on modern athletes and the need for a more balanced global tennis calendar.
