Owner boosts Magic City excitement at game despite promotion being canceled

On Monday evening, the Atlanta Hawks picked up their tenth consecutive win with a comfortable home win over the Orlando Magic. The game was originally named “Magic City Night”, which was supposed to be a collaboration between the team and a local adult entertainment establishment, but the NBA ultimately canceled the promotion after criticism from San Antonio Spurs big man Luke Kornet.

However, despite this, many fans in attendance showed support for the venue anyway, as described by the Associated Press.

The Associated Press reported via ESPN, “Support or not, plenty of Hawks fans were dressed the same way. Magic City gear, both official and unofficial merchandise, was a common sight throughout the crowd. Among those proudly wearing club sweatshirts was Hawks principal owner Jami Gertz, who sat near halfcourt watching Atlanta cruise to a 124-112 victory.”

Gertz has ties to the Magic City, having previously produced a documentary about the iconic nightlife establishment.

Meanwhile, on the court, the Hawks had their most impressive performance of the season on Monday, defeating an Orlando team that was on a seven-game winning streak in its own right, and extending their own run to ten consecutive wins.

The hero was Nickell Alexander-Walker, who continued his Most Improved Player of the Year campaign with 41 points on nine three pointers, while Jalen Johnson recorded his 13th triple double of the year and second consecutive.

The Hawks are now just a game and a half out of the top six in the East, which would mean missing out on the play-in tournament altogether.

Atlanta will next take the field on Wednesday evening for a road game against the Dallas Mavericks as they look to take their streak to 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.

‘Signal from England’ – Newcastle star’s agent boosts transfer as Arsenal and Manchester United circle

According to Tuttosport, Relayed by Sport Mediaset. The Italian outlet covered the Newcastle star today and revealed how he could be set for a move to Arsenal or Manchester United.

The newspaper reports that ‘signs from England’ speak clearly about the Newcastle midfielder. He is a long-term target for Juventus but, their hopes of getting him seem low.

That’s because his agent was recently in the stands at the Amex for Brighton vs Arsenal. This went unnoticed in Italy. The 25-year-old player is the ‘object of desire’ of the world’s top clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester United advance

While Juventus dream of bringing him back to Serie A, the path seems clear for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

According to their information, Arsenal are ready to make a fresh attempt following their February bid. Meanwhile, Manchester United see the midfielder as the ideal successor to Casemiro. The Brazilian is set to depart in the summer at the end of his contract.

Newcastle, for their part, are ‘putting up the front’. The Magpies want €100 million for their star man. But the pressure from big clubs is ‘extreme’ and increasing.

The positive for them is that Tonali’s current contract runs until 2029, so there is no immediate pressure to sell. Eddie Howe’s side also have the option to start another year on him and extend it until 2030.

Newcastle United’s contract until 2029

However, the rumors about Arsenal and Manchester United are not stopping. A report from Italy yesterday Reiterating that both sides were keen on the Newcastle star.

That report included Juventus’ efforts and competition from ‘Arsenal to Manchester United’.

Earlier a report said that Old Trafford officials Had already been contacted about a move this summer. It also presented the midfielder as a replacement for Casemiro.

Now his agent’s presence at Arsenal’s win over Brighton has further fueled the rumours. If he turns up for the Manchester United game before the summer, it would be another clear sign for the likes of Juventus.

Cleveland boosts forward depth with latest signing

The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Riley Minnicks to a two-way contract, the team officially announced Saturday. He is the 18th and final member of the wine-and-gold roster, bolstering the Cavs’ forward depth as they continue their momentum in the G League.

Minix has played 12 games for the Cleveland Charge, averaging 19.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals in over 31 minutes per contest. He’s shooting a stellar 55.6% from the field, including a 45.7% clip from long range on nearly six attempts a night. The Cavs’ G League affiliate acquired Minix from the Austin Spurs on January 13 in a three-team trade with the Westchester Knicks. Cleveland gave up both 2027 first- and second-round selections in the deal.

Before coming to charge, the 25-year-old had spent the previous two and a half seasons with San Antonio’s organization. Starting his career undrafted out of Morehead State and spending the past four years in the NAIA Southeast, Minix’s performance at the 2024 NBA Summer League earned him an Exhibit 10 contract and an invitation to training camp. The Spurs changed his initial terms to a two-way contract which expired.

Minix appeared in just one NBA regular-season game for San Antonio in early November 2024. He had a solid campaign with Austin, but it was cut short due to a torn left labrum that required surgery. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound swingman returned for his second summer with the franchise and spent the preseason with the Spurs on a new two-way contract.

On November 2, against the Phoenix Suns, Minix scored a career-high 9 points on 4-of-6 shooting in four and a half minutes of floor time. He played 11 games during the Showcase Cup portion of the G League season before being called up by Cleveland to move on. He averaged 15.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and one steal in over 33 minutes per game with Austin.

Minix joins Tristan Enaruna and Emmanuel Miller as the Cavs’ third two-way player. Since being acquired by the Charge, he has produced multiple 20-point outings, including a 27-point showing on 6-of-10 shooting from long range in a win over the Raptors 905 two nights ago.

His teammate Norchad Omier was named G League Player of the Week and will represent the team in the NBA G League Next Up game on Sunday. Heading into the final stretch of the season, things are looking good for Cleveland head coach Eli Klay-Abrams.
