San Francisco 49ers may be ready to trade Pro Bowl player

As many predicted, the San Francisco 49ers bounced back and returned to the playoffs this season. Still, as general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan know, nothing is guaranteed from year to year.

The changes are sure to impact the 49ers again. They could also trade a Pro Bowl player who contributed heavily to their success in 2025.

While offseason discussions so far indicate that the 49ers do not want to trade Mac Jones, who led the team to a 5-3 record this season. That mindset can change.

according to athletic“Stars may align” for 49ers to trade Matt Barrows, Jones.

“Still, circumstances are shaping up to make it an offer that may be hard to refuse.”

Several teams may be interested in taking a gamble on Jones becoming the starting quarterback. It helps that Jones has spent a season mastering Kyle Shanahan’s playbook, and many teams run a similar offense.

Barrows estimates that teams that might be interested in trading for the former first-round pick include the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.

The Cardinals just hired Mike LaFleur, who spent four seasons coaching under Shanahan in San Francisco. Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slovic spent six seasons coaching under Shanahan. Meanwhile, the Vikings use concepts in Shanahan’s offense that Kevin O’Connell has adopted over the years.

Any of the three teams would make sense if the price is right this offseason. But the 49ers also have to be willing to listen.

Seattle Seahawks headed to lose Super Bowl star?

Unlike the other 31 NFL franchises, the Seattle Seahawks were able to end their season on a high note by celebrating victory in Super Bowl LX. However, after several players had career years while gaining valuable playoff experience, the Seahawks will have to make some difficult decisions this offseason. They may also feel forced to say goodbye to a hero.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Seahawks are “unlikely” to place the franchise tag on upcoming free agent running back Kenneth Walker III.

“It is unlikely the Seahawks will use their franchise tag on running back and Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, per league source. The Seahawks have several free agents they want to retain and sign. They will also attempt to extend WR Jackson Smith-Njigba. There are substantial Super-Bowl tax costs that now make it impossible to use the franchise tag this off-season.”

Adam Schefter on the Seattle Seahawks’ offseason plans

The Super Bowl LX MVP had an incredible postseason performance, rushing for 376 yards and five touchdowns on just 80 attempts for an average of 4.7 yards per carry. This includes a heroic performance on a 135-yard run in Super Bowl LX.

Now, he’s ready to make money as a free agent. Spotrac plans to sign Walker to a $9 million per season contract. The franchise tag for the running back is expected to be around $14 million this offseason. Meanwhile, Walker has earned a total of $8.44 million in his four-year NFL career.

Walker, 25, will be one of the top free agent running backs available this offseason. If the Seahawks can’t agree on his value, another team will surely make him one of the NFL’s highest-paid running backs.

Dwyane Wade suggests Pro Bowl All-Star game

Recently, the NBA All-Star Game took place at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, home of the Clippers. The game received better reviews this year than last season, players scored at least a few tries in the new USA vs. World format, the young USA team won the round robin tournament and Anthony Edwards won MVP.

However, the league is apparently still open to suggestions about how to improve the event going forward, and recently, NBA legend Dwyane Wade offered an interesting idea for the future of the game.

“I don’t think we should stop and do this [NBA] No more mid-season All-Star Game. …I look at it like the Pro Bowl. … The All-Star Game should be a journey … an experience for the guys who make it,” Wade said, according to the Y Network by Dwyane Wade, ex, formerly on Twitter.

Indeed, the NFL Pro Bowl game takes place after the regular season and the first three rounds of the playoffs have already been completed, which could theoretically attract more attention.

However, that game has also been the subject of extreme criticism, the league has recently changed the format to flag football, and a large number of star players are opting out of the event each year, so it may not be the best reference point to use for improving the NBA’s version of the game.

This year, San Antonio Spurs young star Victor Wembanyama set the tone early in the All-Star Game with his effort level, and most of the other players seemed to follow suit, resulting in three straight game losses before the finals quickly turned into a blowout.

Overall, while it wasn’t perfect, it was definitely a step in the right direction for the NBA All-Star celebration.

NFL Insider links Minnesota Vikings to Pro Bowl dual-threat QB

The Minnesota Vikings may be preparing to consider different quarterbacks this offseason. It remains to be seen whether that’s to compete with or replace 2024 first-round pick JJ McCarthy. Either way, with only McCarthy and 2025 undrafted rookie Max Brosmer set to return in 2026, the Vikings will need to add a QB to the roster.

Of course, the Vikings have a better idea of whether they want a QB to replace McCarthy or simply push him to be the best he can be. The Vikings might not even know what they wanted; They could add someone as a contingency plan if McCarthy doesn’t take the next step in his development.

Recently, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler appeared on SportsCenter. In doing so, he suggested that Kyler Murray could be an “option” for the Vikings this offseason.

“It’s definitely worth a look. If he goes down he (Kyler Murray) will be one of the top quarterbacks available via trade or release, and most of the league expects him to go down, and he’ll be available. He’s got a high guarantee of about $40 million, it all triggers by mid-March. So, they’ve got to come to an offer here in the coming weeks. He wants to go to a winner, that’s what he wants. So, you figure maybe Minnesota might be an option for him and we’ll see what happens.”

Jeremy Fowler on Kyler Murray

The former No. 1 overall pick has made the playoffs only once in seven seasons. With a receiving corps led by Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, the Vikings will likely give Murray a solid base to work from.

If he connects with head coach Kevin O’Connell, something special could be in the works for the Vikings. But first, all the stars have to align in Minnesota.

Liam Coen butchering ‘Duval’ and brutally stiffing $6bn NFL team created Super Bowl dream for Jaguars

It was awkward, unexpected and highly unique.

In retrospect, Liam Coen butchering his opening ‘Duval’ announcement was the perfect way to proclaim he was the ideal new head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

There’s only one way to say Duval right

“Duuuuval,” said a smiling Coen, in a clip that instantly went viral and turned the Jacksonville rookie HC into an easy target on social media.

The internet reaction was sudden, sharp and unrelenting.

“I love Liam Coen but this is whiter than an Iowa DB room,” Mike Golic Jr tweeted.

“Liam Coen with the worst sounding #DUUUVAL I have ever heard uh oh,” a fan posted.

“0-17,” another fan wrote.

“That made me so uncomfortable ,” a fourth fan said. “But the dude’s an offensive genius so f*** it.”

ESPN’s Pat McAfee also publicly doubted whether Coen — who spurned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing a five-year contract with the Jaguars — could handle his new job.

“Whenever you see this, it’s tough,” McAfee said. “It’s hard not to say, ‘This guy’s got no chance to win.’ There’s no way anybody is going to take him seriously.”

Fernando Mendoza’s Peach Bowl has fans hyped for 2026 NFL Draft

After a nightmare 3-14 season, Las Vegas Raiders fans experienced an unfamiliar feeling during Indiana football’s Peach Bowl appearance. The Hoosiers annihilated Oregon in a 56-22 beatdown that wasn’t even as close as the final score suggests. And Fernando Mendoza’s performance in the CFP semifinal filled Raiders fans with hope.

Mendoza diced up the Ducks on Friday night, notching his third game of the season with five touchdown passes. The 22-year-old junior had more touchdowns (five) than incompletions (three) in a brilliant performance against Oregon.

Indiana advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship with a dominant victory Friday. But Raiders fans are already picturing Mendoza in silver and black. And Las Vegas can make that dream a reality with the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft.

The Mendoza-to-the-Raiders hype began well before Indiana’s CFP run. But the chatter has only intensified with back-to-back dominant performances in the national spotlight.

And Indiana’s bludgeoning of Oregon in the Peach Bowl likely put an end to the Dante Moore > Mendoza debate that Todd McShay and others have perpetuated.

The Raiders entered a full-blown rebuild this offseason after firing Pete Carroll. Las Vegas is on the hunt for a new head coach. And there are questions about Maxx Crosby’s future with the team. But pairing a talented young quarterback with fellow first-round picks Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty could help the team return to relevancy in a hurry.
