Jalen Brunson recalls the moment he took out anger on Andre Iguodala

Not many people know that New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and former NBA star Andre Iguodala have known each other for years.

These days, Brunson is having a great season with the Knicks, while Iguodala is enjoying his retirement after a 19-year career.

Iguodala debuted with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2004 when they selected him as the No. 9 pick. In 2006, the team added Brunson’s father, Rick Brunson, to the preseason roster. That’s when the lives of the younger Brunson and Iguodala intertwined.

On the “Roommates Show,” Brunson, 29, recalled a story when he was rebounding for the 76ers during a shootaround, and he accidentally peed on Iguodala.

“I think of it like this: If the ball goes in the hoop and you see where that ball came from, you give it back to the guy who made that shot,” the lefty guard said.

“So I’m pretty sure you made a shot, and I’m thinking, ‘Right back at him.’ You looked away for a second, and swiftly, he got hit in the head, hit you in the head. I went, ‘Oh s***.’ You were hot. You didn’t look back at me. He was hot. I was very scared.”

Iguodala said he did not remember it happening, but he was intrigued by Brunson’s story.

The elder Brunson, an assistant coach with the Knicks, was omitted from the final roster that year. Meanwhile, Iguodala had a breakout campaign averaging 18.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and five assists.

Twelve years later, in a full-circle moment, Iguodala, then with the Golden State Warriors, played against the young Brunson for the first time when he was a rookie on the Dallas Mavericks.

Jose Alvarado reacts to first MSG start amid Jalen Brunson injury

No Jalen Brunson, no problem. Even without their key player, the New York Knicks recorded an easy 136-110 win over the Indiana Pacers at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

Brunson missed the game with an ankle injury and a neck strain. He had not missed a competition since January.

A big factor in the Knicks’ victory was Jose Alvarado, who replaced Brunson in the starting lineup. He scored 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting, including four three-pointers, two rebounds, 10 assists and two steals.

Before tip-off, Alvarado was introduced as being from Christ the King High School. Players are usually introduced to their alma mater in college. When SNY asked about this, they told a slight change felt appropriate.

“I just wanted to show love for the school in the city where I went. Thanks to my college, I’m definitely grateful for my college. But the debut at The Garden was meant to represent the city where I grew up,” explained Alvarado, who was born and raised in Brooklyn.

The 27-year-old guard played four years at Georgia Tech, earning two All-ACC team honors and winning the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2021.

Alvarado has been a solid midseason pick-up for the Knicks, providing instant energy, defensive intensity and shooting off the bench. In 18 games, he has averaged 6.2 points, 4.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 17.0 minutes.

He’s a perfect fit for the Knicks’ culture, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he earns a bigger role in the playoffs.

Why Jalen Brunson is to blame for New York’s struggles, according to Stephen A.

Despite the New York Knicks defeating the underdog Golden State Warriors 110-107 on Sunday, there are some who are concerned about the close result due to the opponent missing key players like Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and others. As serendipitous as some may find the Knicks’ win over the Warriors to be, some are disappointed, such as Stephen A. Smith, who explained how the recent struggles are Jalen Brunson’s fault.

While some may hear this and react angrily, it’s not because it involves his impact on the court, which can’t be denied as he scored 30 points on Sunday, but it has to do with Mikal Bridges. There’s no denying how disappointing Bridges has been, especially in the last six games, with scores in single digits in five of them.

Smith would say Brunson was the reason New York made the trade for Bridges in the first place, which led to a massive return, including the team giving up four first-round selections, which did not pan out.

“Why did they do that? They did that because, instead of waiting a year and signing a five-year, max $270 million extension, Jalen Brunson signed a four-year, $156 million extension a year ago, giving the New York Knicks $113 million in free space around that cap. So what do the New York Knicks do? Obviously, he saves them that kind of money. He did it so they could take his guy,” Smith continued.

While Smith further states that Bridges is no “scrub”, he believes that the move to acquire Bridges and what New York gave up has put a “handicap” on the Knicks.

Smith said, “You can’t let your organization sacrifice so much to get a guy that will ultimately keep you from building a roster that can compete for championships.”

At any rate, New York is 44-25, leaving them in third place in the Eastern Conference with their next game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.

Ben Stiller in New York relieved to remember there was nothing wrong with Jalen Brunson after huge comeback against Jazz

At one point, the New York Knicks’ game against the Utah Jazz was not looking good, as they found themselves in a big loss that almost kept superfan Ben Stiller from watching, before Jalen Brunson’s heroics saved the team.

At the beginning of the game, Stiller took to Twitter to discuss his discomfort in watching the Knicks lose early against the Jazz, writing, “Couldn’t watch for 10 minutes – feels like we finally remembered we’re the NY Knicks.”

Ultimately, New York came out on top, and a lot of that can be attributed to Brunson’s performance. Thanks to Brunson’s performance, they won by 17 points, which initially seemed impossible. He scored 28 points and had four rebounds and eight assists.

Stiller didn’t let his heroics go unnoticed, giving the point guard a shout-out, writing, “Brunson really stepped up [in the] Second half],” after the game.

After the first quarter of the Knicks’ game against the Jazz on March 11, New York was down by 15 points, and lost 41 points. Even at the half, they were down 65–56.

Fortunately, they turned things around in the second half, outscoring the Jazz 40–29 in the third and 38–23 in the fourth. It was a much-needed win on the road for the Knicks, who are just 19-16 on the road this year.

Brunson made the biggest splash, but he wasn’t the only impact player. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 21 points and was extremely efficient, making eight of his 13 shots. OG Anunoby also scored 22 points while making 70% of his shots from the floor and all five of his free throws.

Jordan Clarkson also scored 27 points off the bench. In 26 minutes, Clarkson made 10 of his 15 shots with four free throws. Clarkson is averaging only 8.9 points per game this year, so this was a phenomenal performance for the guard.

Luka Doncic trolled Jalen Brunson after he fouled him

The Los Angeles Lakers have picked up momentum over the past few weeks, returning to their Big-3 form and winning four of their last five games. While the occasional defensive lapses are still present, the Lakers’ core men certainly seem to be having fun even without LeBron James, as evidenced by Luka Doncic’s clip from the New York Knicks’ trip to Crypto.com Arena.

Doncic and company got off to a fast start and finished the first quarter 31-23, in what has proven to be a tough day for offenses since then. According to a post on X by ClutchPoints, the Slovenian drew a foul from former Dallas Mavericks teammate Jalen Brunson after driving inside, and couldn’t help but laugh immediately afterward.

James missed his second consecutive game due to a left elbow injury. However, even in his absence, the Lakers looked comfortable offensively for most of the night.

Doncic had a game-high 35 points with eight rebounds and four assists. However, he was only 11-25 from the field and 5-16 from the three-point zone.

Austin Reeves had 25 points, five assists and four rebounds, while DeAndre Ayton looked more willing to be the defensive lynchpin, finishing with six points on 3-4 shooting with eight rebounds in 20 minutes. Luke Kennard provided cover off the bench, playing 27 minutes and finishing with 12 points and two rebounds.

The Lakers were only slightly better from the field than the Knicks, shooting 42.7% overall. However, they were vastly better from beyond the arc, converting 15 of their 44 three-pointers (34.1%), while the Knicks shot 8/34 from the three-point zone.

This win will help the now 38-25 Lakers keep distance from the Phoenix Suns. They are now just a half game behind the Denver Nuggets in 5th place with a 39-25 record.

For New York, Karl-Anthony Towns finished with a team-high 25 points and 16 rebounds on 8-17 from the field. Jalen Brunson followed closely with 24 points, seven assists and six rebounds on 8-19 shooting.

Chandler Parsons sends warning to Jalen Brunson to Mike Brown over SGA cry

Former NBA player Chandler Parsons sent a friendly warning to the Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and head coach Mike Brown after accusing Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of a foul play in Wednesday’s 103-100 loss. After a tight contest, Brown gave the Thunder’s Gilgeous-Alexander backhanded praise for his ability to get to the line.

Parsons told Brown the reason complaint about caretaker It’s not a good look for the Knicks, he said, according to FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.

“When you make the play on defense, and you’re the more physical team, and you throw the first punch, and make contact, that’s usually how you get the whistle,” Parsons said. “SGA is phenomenal at getting those calls. The confusing thing to me is that Mike Brown wants these calls for Jalen Brunson, and he usually gets them. Now be careful because your starting point guard does the same thing. If not, it’s even better than SGA.

“So, be careful with low whistles because that’s a big part of Jalen Brunson’s offensive game as well.”

Gilgeous-Alexander was an excellent 7 of 7 from the free-throw line. He finished with 26 points on 9-for-16 shooting and eight assists. Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson had a tough shooting night, making 5 of 18 attempts, including 1 of 5 from deep and 4 of 6 from the charity stripe. Karl-Anthony Towns’ double-double (17 points, 17 rebounds) led the Knicks in Wednesday’s loss.

Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson took a shot at officiating during his postgame media availability. When a reporter asked about the alleged black eye on his face, Brunson said it was probably related to the no-call. Brunson, pointing to the referees in the Thunder’s win over the Knicks, was an ongoing theme.

It seemed as if head coach Mike Brown set the tone for the Knicks with his postgame comments

“SGA, that’s a tough cover,” Brown admitted before addressing the criticism. “He does a very good job of convincing the refs, probably better than anyone in the league, that he’s getting hit.”

The Knicks will look to bounce back in their matchup against the Nuggets on Friday.

Jalen Brunson joins Mike Brown in shaming refs after Thunder’s loss

The New York Knicks did not have enough effort to overcome the Oklahoma City Thunder, as they lost 103–100. In close games like this, sometimes one or two things happen that change the trajectory of the game, and for the Knicks, they believe it was the referees that had a lot to do with the outcome.

After the game, head coach Mike Brown talked about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his ability to manipulate the referees into thinking he was being fouled.

“SGA, that’s a tough cover,” Brown said. “He does a very good job of convincing the refs, probably better than anyone in the league, that he’s getting hit.”

The one thing people have always criticized about Gilgeous-Alexander is his game and how he gets to the free-throw line. Against the Knicks, he only attempted seven free throws, as that number has been higher at times.

Jalen Brunson took it further when talking about the refs, but they had physical evidence of a foul that probably should have been called. Brunson had a black eye and after the game a reporter asked him about it.

“Probably no call,” Brunson said.

There may be a possibility that Brown may receive a letter in his mailbox, but Brunson may be safe. Either way, it’s clear that both of them were not fans of how the game was being run against them.

It seems like the way the Thunder play, especially on defense, has made a lot of people fall for them and made them difficult to stop. When teams try to copy what he does, it usually results in foul play, which has been frustrating for some throughout the season.

The Knicks didn’t let them bother them much during the game and they still managed to give themselves a chance in the end.

Jalen Brunson makes history with 7,000th point in NY

New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson made franchise history by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks 127-98 on Friday. The 29-year-old surpassed 7,000 points in the first quarter of his 265th game with New York, becoming the fastest player to reach the milestone in team history.

Brunson finished with a game-high 27 points in 31 minutes, shooting 11 of 17 from the field (64.7%), 4 of 6 from three-point range and 1-of-2 at the line. He also contributed seven rebounds and three assists. He exploded for 22 points in the opening quarter, including 9 of 10 shots and all three of his three-point attempts. The 22-point burst was the second-most points in a first quarter in franchise history, one short of his own record set against Milwaukee on January 12, 2025. It was the 10th 20-point quarter of his career, recorded as a Knicks, and the highest-scoring quarter by a New York player in any span this season.

In 55 games this season, Brunson has averaged 26.7 points, 6.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game, while shooting 47.1% from the floor and 37.6% from three-point range. He finished February averaging 23.8 points, 6.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 made threes and 0.8 steals in 35.6 minutes per game. Since signing with the Knicks as a free agent in 2022 after four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, Brunson has earned three consecutive All-Star selections, two All-NBA Second Team honors, and led the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years last season.

New York shot 21 of 42 (50%) from three-point range and 60% overall in the first half, while leading 77–57 at halftime. The Knicks committed 16 turnovers resulting in 19 points and all five starters scored in double figures for the 15th time this season. OG Anunoby scored 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, Karl-Anthony Towns added 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Landry Shamet hit five threes for 15 points.

The Bucks, who had won eight of their last 10 games and were playing their fifth game in eight days, played without Giannis Antetokounmpo (right calf strain), who missed his 14th consecutive game.

New York picked up an important win over a sub-.500 Milwaukee team. Next, the Knicks will host the Western Conference’s No. 2-seeded San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.

Jalen Brunson revisits his high school with new Nike Kobe 4 PE

New York Knicks’ reigning ‘Clutch Player of the Year’ Jalen Brunson has already established himself as a top talent in the NBA, earning the title of captain and playing on the most famous arena in the world. However, long before Brunson became King of the Big Apple, he had a stellar career as one of the best high school basketball players in the state of Illinois. Continuing his recent Nike Kobe PE series, Brunson pays homage to the Stevenson Patriots with the Nike Kobe 4.

Check out our sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content!

Jalen Brunson hails from New Jersey, but moved during his youth and attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Brunson’s accolades all four years have been high, including Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year (2014, 2015), three-time All-State selection, McDonald’s All-American (2015), Illinois Mr. Basketball (2015), and leading Stevenson to its first boys basketball IHSA 4A state title.

Honoring his illustrious career as a Stevenson Patriot, Brunson launches a new Nike Kobe 4 PE sneaker in the color scheme of his alma mater. Brunson notably decided to forgo his own signature sneakers with sponsor Nike and instead has an endless supply of the late great Kobe Bryant’s signature sneakers at his disposal.

Appearing in a predominantly White base above the iconic Nike Kobe 4, we see prominent hits of Yellow across the front medial and outsole, along with a plastic heel support. The toe, tongue, side panels, sockliner and rear half of the midsole are dressed in clean white, contrasted by forest green flywire on the side panels. The Nike Swoosh comes in a Shiny Metallic Green colorway framed by Gold and matching Black Mamba logo on the tongue.

Enhanced details include Kobe Bryant’s No. 8 and No. 24 embossed in leather on both heels as well as Bryant’s signature in green on the rear heel support. The finishing touch comes in the form of a tab on the inside of the tongue that reads ’15 State Champs’, modeled after the championship banner that Brunson helped raise in 2015.

While it is still unknown whether or not this sneaker will be released to the public, Jalen Brunson has already made a splash in-game and we have seen a steady rhythm of his actual player exclusive releases to the public.

NEW YORK – Jalen Brunson was the NBA’s 2025 Clutch Player of the Year for a reason. On Saturday night against the Houston Rockets, he added to his crunch-time resume by finalizing New York’s 18-point comeback. It took almost half of the third quarter for Brunson to make his first field goal, but the final six minutes of the fourth quarter were his showcase.

New York reduced Houston’s lead for the first half of the fourth quarter with Brunson on the bench. The guard entered the game with 6:27 left, shooting 4-4 from the floor and knocked down the lead-taking mid-range jump shot with 29.5 seconds remaining. It was the guard’s 14th game-tying or go-ahead save since joining the Knicks’ roster, good for second in the NBA in that span.

According to ESPN, Brunson trails only DeMar DeRozan in that regard. The superstar guard told reporters after the game that, despite the game’s make-or-miss reputation, his fourth-quarter masterpiece was about a change in approach, not just a variation.

“I didn’t like how I was playing and I saw I had to change it, it’s that simple. It has nothing to do with shooting. It’s the mentality of getting down the slope and trying to make plays. And not hesitate and not be passive. If there are mistakes, they’re offensive mistakes. They want you to be on your heels. And I think that’s what I was in the first few quarters,” the Knicks captain told the media on Saturday.

Brown says the Knicks “have to get better” after being swept by the Rockets.

Reporters asked head coach Mike Brown about his group’s tendency to underestimate competition and flip the proverbial “switch” when needed. He said after the game that although he has coached teams that can “flip the switch”, such as the Golden State Warriors group that included Durant, those were unique situations that he was not counting on replicating in New York.

“We’ve found a way. But we’ve got to be better,” Brown said.

The organization chose this coach to lead this group because his focus was on team process regardless of results. Sunday night’s tilt in Chicago will conclude the weekend’s back-to-back. After that, the Knicks have 24 games left in the regular season. Brown, and his players, will spend time honing that same process – trying to get as close to perfection as possible.

Jalen Brunson stresses need for ‘New Year’ mentality after loss to Pistons

New York – The New York Knicks have a complicated relationship with the Detroit Pistons. The young Pistons group completed their 2026 regular season sweep of the Knicks on Thursday night, bringing both teams back to similar circumstances from last season, which culminated in a first-round playoff win for New York. However, team captain Jalen Brunson no longer wants to rely on last year’s results.

“It’s a new year,” Brunson told reporters at Madison Square Garden after the Knicks’ 126-111 loss.

The young Detroit group, led by a jumbo playmaker and consisting mostly of serious specialists in defined roles, is reminiscent of the New York squad led by Julius Randle. But, to borrow Jay-Z’s paradox in his early 2010 rap masterpiece, Brunson has helped transform these nicks from “underpaid” to “overrated” in recent years.

It is believed that New York is closer than ever to the championship. But Cade Cunningham’s Pistons are lovable underdogs who upset the NBA hierarchy with surprising road wins. And on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks contenders were caught at the beach.

The Pistons were missing Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, both of whom were suspended after a fight with the Charlotte Hornets. It didn’t make much difference to Cunningham. His 42-point, eight-rebound, 13-assist performance overshadowed Brunson’s 33 points, six rebounds and eight assists on 60% field goal shooting.

Detroit’s regular season success did not help them in last year’s playoffs against the Knicks. But these pistons seem to work with larger cylinders. The proverbial engine of their offense, Cunningham, has leveled off. With this he can take his teammates to even greater heights.

The Knicks have work to do before the end of the season if they want to repeat last year’s playoff results against teams like the Pistons. They have reached the required heights many times, but often step back after reminding themselves that they can do the same.

Bridges ends another close game on the Knicks bench

Thursday’s loss to the Pistons was another close game that Mikal Bridges watched from the bench. The Knicks made only eight of their 35 attempts from behind the 3-point arc, with only four different players getting shots to fall. Brunson and Landry Shamet were the only two Knicks to score more than one, each knocking down three times during the 15-point loss.

Two of the 3-pointers made by Shamet came in the last eight minutes of the fourth quarter, when he was on the court in place of starter Mikal Bridges. It’s important for the versatility of the Knicks’ scheme that starters like Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns don’t mind being benched in favor of red-hot role players. But head coach Mike Brown said Shamet closed out on Bridges because the team needed to score. It wasn’t a strong endorsement of the two-way wing who signed a four-year, $150 million extension with a player option for the 2029-30 season.

“Landry hit some shots. We needed to score. They’re both really good guards. And so I stayed with Landry. But it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, I’ll sit Mikal because he’s not doing that, or he’s not doing that.’ We were looking to score points. And Landry was the only guy to make a shot from behind the arc, the coach said through some nervous laughter.

A key part of the Knicks’ journey this upcoming postseason will be striking a balance with respect to the participation of their star players — and what they bring to the table in games where shots aren’t being funneled their way. While the Browns made it clear that the late-game benching was not Bridges’ fault but a situational adjustment, it is on Bridges to give the coaching staff no choice.

Bridges did not ask to be traded for five first-round picks. He didn’t force the Knicks to offer him $150 million and a player option. But the ball is in the 29-year-old’s court as to how he chooses to respond to this adversity. His confession after the game in Toronto was a great start. New York can’t afford to be this outlier.

Jalen Brunson ‘Warning Label’ Nike Kobe 3 Official Look

New York Knicks franchise star Jalen Brunson made headlines a few months ago after admitting to forgoing his own signature sneaker option with sponsor Nike. Brunson has been wearing Nike Kobe sneakers almost exclusively since his time as a Villanova Wildcat, and is expanding that tradition on his way to becoming an All-NBA talent with the New York Knicks. Their PE (Player Exclusive) run began with the “Statue of Liberty” colorway of the Nike Kobe 6, which has recently resurfaced once again in the form of the latest “Arania” Nike Kobe 3 Low.

Nike Basketball debuted the “Warning Label” collection at the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, giving top Nike athletes like LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Ja Morant their own exclusive colorways of their signature sneakers. Brunson was no different as Nike put together a “Warning Label” Nike Kobe 3 PE for him to rock during the festivities.

Nike Kobe 3 Low “Warning Label”

According to Nike’s promotional warning label: “This collection is more than a threat. The midsole, outsole, sockliner, and laces are all done up in the same soft purple hue. The hallmark feature is the iridescent color in the upper webbing, giving these an unmistakable and distinctive look.

While the above pairs are currently available through Nike, Brunson’s Kobe 3 PE will remain exclusive to him and Nike’s Future Game players. Do you think Nike should release this specific pair?

Jalen Brunson shares ‘leader’ opinion on Victor Wembanyama

The New York Knicks were well represented at this year’s All-Star Game, with Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns competing for Team Stripes and Team World, respectively.

In the end, none of them won the trophy, as Team Stars won the mini tournament. It was the young guns, including Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, who shone brightest at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Edwards was named All-Star Game MVP, while Wembanyama almost single-handedly led the team to the World Cup. Edwards acknowledged Vembanyama for setting the tone In the mid-season showdown, and Brunson agreed.

“I think Wembey is a leader. The way he carries himself is great for this game. I think he’s done a great job, and you can see the impact he’s had on and off the court during this game. That’s why he’s doing what he does,” Brunson said.

The 22-year-old Vembanayama, who played in his second consecutive All-Star Game, scored 33 points on 10-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds and two blocks in two games, although they lost both.

For his part, the 29-year-old Brunson had 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in three games.

Even before the highly anticipated competition, Vembanyama made it clear that he did not see it as a comfortable exhibition, and stressed the need to work hard to compete.

Team World still had a chance to advance to the finals, but Vembanyama missed a three-pointer, sending the game into overtime against Team Stripes.

Meanwhile, Brunson and the Knicks return to action on Thursday against the Detroit Pistons.

Jalen Brunson leaves unexpected pick for ‘most annoying person ever’

Jalen Brunson remains a central figure to the New York Knicks’ success, both on and off the court. During the recent All-Star Saturday festivities, Brunson led the Knicks trio of Karl-Anthony Towns and Allen Houston to victory in the return of the Shooting Stars competition. Despite the win, the All-Star guard joked that he was not having any fun due to the presence of the team’s “celebrity” passer, his father and assistant coach, Rick Brunson.

The younger Brunson jokingly roasted his father during the trophy presentation, noting that the elder Brunson did his job, but being around him was never a good time.

The momentum comes as the Knicks enter the break with a 35-20 record and the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

These types of interactions often highlight the team’s chemistry, although some teammates test Brunson’s patience more than others.

In a video posted by ClutchPoints via NBA, the Knicks leader revealed his choice for a specific superlative.

“I’m not going to tell his name, but the number 3 [Josh Hart] On the Knicks…he’s the most annoying guy ever,” Brunson joked.

The bond between the former Villanova teammates is well-documented, and this latest comment adds another chapter to their ongoing public banter.

While Hart may be a nuisance in the locker room, his presence has been vital for a Knicks team that has won 8 of their last 10 games.

The surge came after an important players-only meeting called by Brunson following a disappointing loss to the Mavericks.

The star guard has embraced his role as the team’s undisputed leader, emphasizing that his motivation comes from proving to himself that he belongs at the highest level.

Brunson said he is not afraid to fail as he pushes the Knicks toward championship aspirations.

He challenged his teammates to show enough care to put in the effort required, a demand that has clearly resonated as the team prepares for the final stretch of the regular season.

Why wasn’t Jalen Brunson having fun even after winning Shooting Stars?

New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson played an integral role in his team winning the Shooting Stars competition, an event that marked his spectacular return to the NBA All-Star Saturday after an 11-year hiatus, but there was one thing that was dampening his excitement. And he shares a last name.

After Brunson, fellow 2026 All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns and fan favorite Allen Houston led the Knicks to victory, No. 11 took the opportunity to deliver a verbal jab at the celebrity passer, who is also his father and coach. New York assistant and former NBA player Rick Brunson was roasted during the trophy presentation.

When asked if he was enjoying, the younger Brunson decided to lie down next to his old man.

“No, whenever I’m with him, it’s never fun,” he told NBC Sports reporter Ashley Shahahmadi via the BrickCenterX account. “It was a passer, I wouldn’t call it a ‘celebrity’ passer, but he did his job.”

The Brunson men spend so much time together in the locker room and on the road, so one can assume they regularly engage in some old-fashioned ribbing. Ultimately, everyone did their job effectively enough to lead New York to the win. The Knicks trio scored 47 points in the final round to defeat Team Cameron, which included former Duke stars Jalen Johnson, Kon Knueppel and Corey Maggette.

Jalen Brunson will continue to be an important part of the festivities, as he is set to be an All-Star Game star for the second year in a row. Since his father won’t be on the court during the action, one can only hope that the 29-year-old will have some fun before leaving the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

Jalen Brunson reveals why he’s ‘not afraid to fail’ in New York

All-Star Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks have won eight of their last 10 games, including an eight-game winning streak, as they head into the All-Star break with the third-best record in the Eastern Conference standings – 35-20. Since Brunson called a players-only meeting following a blowout loss to the Dallas Mavericks — 114-97 — the Knicks have lost only two games in the past three weeks.

For Brunson, the Knicks’ recent extension is an example of how successful they can be when everyone is on the same page, as the All-Star guard looks forward to closing out the regular season According to NBATV’s Chris Haynes, he spoke on a high note before the postseason.

Brunson said, “It was more about proving myself than proving people wrong.” “I just wanted to prove to myself that this is where I should be. No matter what happens, I’m not afraid to fail.”

Before appearing in his third consecutive All-Star Game since joining the Knicks, Brunson had arguably one of his better seasons, averaging 27.0 points on 47.0% shooting, including 37.4% from deep, 6.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds.

Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson booed his team after the loss to the Mavericks. According to ESPN, Brunson berated his team for not giving the effort they were capable of, but did not back down.

“There’s a lot of things to figure out, but I mean, as a team, we know what we have to do,” Brunson said. “It’s either we do it, we care enough to do it, or we don’t.”

After the Knicks’ defense gave up 75 points in the first half of a 17-point loss to the Mavericks, Brunson hasn’t backed down and his team has never lost more than twice in 10 attempts.
