4 players including Giddi, Buzzelis doubtful on injury report

The Chicago Bulls continue their road trip Sunday night when they face the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center. Chicago is entering the matchup with two wins from its last three and will look to carry the momentum against the 14-50 Kings.

However, they will have to do so with several key injuries, with Josh Giddy, Matas Buzelis, Jalen Smith and Patrick Williams all listed as questionable on the official injury report. Giddy and Bouzelis are both dealing with right ankle sprains, while Smith and Williams are dealing with left shin and right quadricep sprains, respectively. Sacramento has lost three consecutive games and is struggling with several injuries.

Giddy’s availability is a game time decision. He was not involved in Chicago’s most recent win against the Phoenix Suns, but delivered a double-double of 20 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds in the two teams’ last meeting.

In their likely absence, Collin Sexton, who scored 30 against Phoenix, and Tre Jones will be expected to carry the offensive load. Meanwhile, the last time these two teams met, Bouzelis had 27 points and he wasn’t even involved in Chicago’s last game. Nonetheless, fans will hope that despite the potential absence, they have enough firepower to pull off another win.

After losing 11 consecutive games in February, the Bulls have won two of their last three games. They are currently completely out of the playoff race and need consecutive wins to get back into the picture.

Additionally, the Kings have dropped 20 of their last 22 games, which puts them firmly in the lottery race. They will also be without key players like Domantas Sabonis, De’Andre Hunter and Zach LaVine, and could suffer another loss at home.

Given that Giddy and Bouzelis are listed as questionable, the assumption is that both will be out against the Suns. Giddy, in particular, has been a fixture on the injury report recently. He most recently missed eleven games from late December to January with a left hamstring strain. Subsequently, head coach Billy Donovan placed Giddy on a minutes restriction as he worked his way back into the lineup.

Their first game was on January 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Giddy scored 21 points, including 18 in the first half, six rebounds and five assists in the 120–115 victory.

Giddy is averaging 17.7 points, 8.4 assists and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile, Bouzelis has remained largely safe from injury. Additionally, he is coming off of playing in the NBA Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend. He has remained focused on winning above anything else, even though the Bulls were winless in February.

Bouzelis is averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

So when the question comes up about whether Josh Giddy and Matas Buzelis are playing against the Suns tonight, the answer is probably yes.
