Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has insisted he has no interest in selling Michael Olise to Liverpool this summer.
BILD Report Comments Today, at the age of 74, rumors continue to swirl about Olise. The 24-year-old Bayern star is reportedly Liverpool’s number one target to replace Mohamed Salah.
advice replacement
Liverpool and Salah confirmed in an announcement this week that they will be parting ways this summer, despite still having a year left on his current deal.
The focus has now turned to who can replace Misri at Anfield. This will be no easy task as he will leave behind heavy shoes to fill.
The report names Olise as the number one target as he continues to shine at Bayern. This season he has 16 goals and 27 assists in 39 games, another level after having 20 goals and 23 assists in 55 games last season.
The same reports also suggest Liverpool are willing to pay €200m for a move this summer. This is despite spending €482.9m on signings last summer.
Hoeneß not interested in €200m
This rumor was reported to Hoeness, who insisted that Bayern had no interest in making a deal.
“If it’s true, I don’t believe it is, but Liverpool have already spent €500m this year and are having a very bad season. So, we will not contribute to their improved performance next year,” he said at the AI festival Data: Unplugged in Munster.
“We play this game for our fans. We have 430,000 members, we have millions of fans around the world, and if we have €200m in the bank and then play bad football every Saturday because of it, it’s not going to do them any good.”
BILD reports that Bayern sees no reason to release Olise, especially from a sporting perspective.
The forward has been a consistent top performer since joining Crystal Palace in 2024. Thus, the Germans want to send a clear message, Olise is not for sale.
Bayern’s boss is speaking
Hoeness made this clear by echoing the sentiments of sporting director Max Eberl.
“We are not reconsidering it. Michael has a contract with us until 2029, with no release clause. We are relaxed,” he told Sportbild.
“He is an FC Bayern player and has all the opportunities here that a top player could want. We want to shape the future with him.”
CEO Jan-Christian Driessen has also stressed how important Olisse is to the club: “It doesn’t matter which club is flirting with him: anyone who plays for FC Bayern knows what they have at FC Bayern.”
So, Bayern’s message is clear. They have no interest in €200m, they do not want to sell and Olise will not want to leave anyway. Whether or not these rumors come true in the summer if Liverpool make a bid remains to be seen.
