Milwaukee Bucks star details locker room chaos, surprising preferential treatment for Giannis

In a moment of surprising honesty, Milwaukee Bucks star Myles Turner revealed the chaos delivered by former head coach Doc Rivers during the 2025-26 season. That includes preferential treatment for franchise legend Giannis Antetokounmpo.

To the disappointment of Bucks fans, their favorite NBA team was a mess last season. Despite Damian Lillard rupturing his Achilles tendon last spring and spending a ton of money to cut ties with Turner after signing him in free agency, Milwaukee won just 32 games in 2025-26. It was their first sub-40 win in a decade.

Currently, Rivers is on the receiving end of his poor performance and was fired last month. Some NBA pundits have suggested that Antetokounmpo’s injury problems and the front office are largely to blame. However, new comments from Turner after his first season in Milwaukee suggest that taking Rivers out would make a big difference as he allowed extremely unprofessional conditions last season.

Myles Turner says Bucks teammates were late or missed practices and meetings all the time

During a new edition of their game recognize game Podcast with New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart, Turner’s co-host asked her about the penalty for the Bucks, as she often includes them on her current team.

In response, the 11-year veteran acknowledged that it varies between coaches, but “Doc Rivers never fined anybody.” He then revealed that teammates were late to practice and film sessions all the time and sometimes missed team meetings altogether.

“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever personally experienced,” Turner said.

Turner also noted how bad his teammates were when it came to showing up for team flights. If the plane was supposed to depart at 2:00 pm, by the time everyone had arrived, it would have departed at least a few hours later. “I’m being very serious, brother. It was crazy,” Turner said.

This became so frequent that Turner deliberately did not appear until an hour after the flight’s departure. When Stewart asked who was the biggest culprit in terms of delays, Turner admitted it was 10-time All-Star Antetokounmpo.

He said, “Giannis will really play whenever he wants. I think it just comes with the territory.”

Obviously, this is a terrible look for the players, their professionalism and respect for their teammates’ time. But if Rivers isn’t holding them accountable, that’s not surprising. It is now up to new head coach Taylor Jenkins to set a new standard of professionalism and lead the Bucks back to competitive play next season.

Hurricanes’ win over Flyers in Game 3 causes chaos on Broad Street

The Carolina Hurricanes picked up a decisive victory in Game 3 against the Philadelphia Flyers, but it was not without its own level of disaster.

On Thursday night, the Hurricanes handed the Flyers a 4–1 defeat as they took a 3–0 series lead. This was the first game in front of a Philly crowd since April 29, when the Flyers won Round One in Game 6 against the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime.

Carolina was the first team on the board as Jordan Staal found the back of the net on the power play at the end of the first period. It was his first goal of the postseason, and it was a wonderful goal as he lofted it across the goal line on a backhand. Here both Andrei Svechnikov and Shayne Gostisbeer assisted him.

The second period soon arrived, and early in the frame, Jackson Blake took a delayed penalty for high-sticking against Cam York. However, the Flyers never really got going on the power play, as Trevor Zegras scored immediately afterward.

Later in the same frame, Taylor Hall took a hard hit on a falling Travis Sanheim, sending him into the boards. The play initially called for a five-minute main skit, but after review this was reduced to a two-minute short skit for boarding.

Just 11 seconds later, Jordan Staal and Jalen Chatfield teamed up on the penalty kill as they raced down the ice – Staal sent a daring pass to Chatfield through Zegras’ legs as the Hurricanes defenseman ripped a one-timer top shelf, returning them to the top of the scoreboard once again. Jordan Martinook was credited with an assist in the process.

Penalty Madness at the Midway Point

As the penalty kill resumed, Seth Jarvis had a shorthanded chance, but it was blocked by Jamie Drysdale – a move that should have been the end of the Flyers’ power play…except it didn’t.

After the whistle, Travis Konecny began pushing and shoving Jarvis, and also cross-checked him. In retaliation, JARVIS swung his twig and caught it in his face. He was swiftly sent to the penalty box along with Drysdale as if nothing had ever happened – with the remaining 5-on-4 play in the Flyers’ favor.

…but that wasn’t the end of it either.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour was particularly unhappy with the lack of call against Konecny. The referee, Garrett Rank, had enough and he immediately whistled him for a bench minor due to unsportsmanlike conduct.

“Usually gets a warning,” Brind’Amour said after the game. “I didn’t get any warnings. But I was a little disappointed in that sequence with what happened. They had the original (penalty), and then I don’t know how we came up with just one (drawn penalty). That was a frustration.”

Luckily for the Hurricanes, they came away just fine in 5-on-3 hockey. This was something for which Brind’Amour expressed gratitude.

“People saved me from there – appreciate it.”

The third period saw another pair of goals for the Hurricanes as Andrei Svechnikov – who trails only Logan Stankoven in shots on goal on the team this postseason – scored his first goal of the playoffs. Sebastian Aho and Gostisbehere assisted on his power play goal, which was his second goal of the night.

Nikolaj Ehlers also scored soon after, hitting a dagger into the neutral zone. Jordan Martinook also had his second assist of the game, while K’Andre Miller had his fifth assist of the postseason, leading all Hurricane defensemen.

They don’t call them ‘Broad Street Bullies’ for nothing

As expected, the Flyers really started to show their teeth after that final goal. In the final few minutes, Konecny received a two-minute minor penalty for pushing, a two-minute minor penalty for biting and a ten-minute penalty for the same tackle. Eric Robinson also got a few minutes in the box against Konecny.

Even more drama ensued after a whistle blew during the power play that the Hurricanes had earned from that ordeal. Rasmus Ristolainen started pushing on Stankoven, and soon, Nick Seiler came in to fight him. In response, Gostisbehere went after Ristolainen, and promptly worked on him.

The weight classes certainly did not match, with Gostisbehere and Stankoven both weighing under 185 pounds and less than six feet tall, while both of the Flyers’ defensemen were over six feet tall and weighed nearly 200 pounds. This was a topic that was noted during post-game pressers, as a reporter joked about Gostisbehere not being interested in weight classes.

“I guess they don’t either,” he said, laughing. “Just trying to help ‘Stanky’ out. I guess it does, but it is what it is.”

storm notes

The Hurricanes’ incredible 7–0 start to the postseason marks the fifth time on record that they have made it to the postseason, sharing the spot in history with the 1989 Montreal Canadiens (lost Stanley Cup Finals), the 1994 New York Rangers (won Stanley Cup Finals), the 2008 Pittsburgh Penguins (lost Stanley Cup Finals), and the 2024 Rangers (lost Eastern Conference Finals).

After missing Games 1 and 2, Alexander Nikishin returned to the lineup on Tuesday after clearing concussion protocol. The rookie defenseman was injured after a strong hit in Game 4 against the Ottawa Senators.

Taylor Hall’s six-game postseason-opening point streak officially ended Thursday, after failing to register a point on the scoresheet.

How the Devils stole Mehta caused chaos in Toronto

The New Jersey Devils’ decision to trade Sunny Mehta out from under the Toronto Maple Leafs is looking like pure highway robbery, as the Leafs selected John Chayka as their new general manager on Monday.

Mehta was the leading candidate for the GM position in Toronto before the Devils promptly fired Tom Fitzgerald and hired his successor just 10 days later.

A smart move by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) forced Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) to pivot, hiring Chayka as their 19th GM in history and Matt Sundin as senior executive advisor of hockey operations.

The initial announcement shocked the hockey world.

Chayka – a man who hasn’t worked in the NHL since he was suspended by Gary Bettman five years ago to pursue new opportunities around the league despite having three years remaining on his contract – comes in with a controversial background.

Ironically, he was in talks with the same ownership group that hired Mehta over interest in Chayka in 2021.

It is safe to say that it was a learning experience for HBSE.

Chayka’s appointment is being heavily criticized in Toronto. One claim says the Maple Leafs are not acting like a serious hockey team.

This conclusion was reached because the Maple Leafs are heading into one of the most important offseasons in their franchise history – similar to the Devils – and can only come to terms with a manager who has been absent from an NHL front office for the past five years, and a fan favorite without front office experience.

Again allegations are coming from Toronto media

Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun told Keith Pelley, “I’ve been in contact with about 20 people who work in the NHL, many of whom are major names we’ll all know.” “One of them supported and the other 19 thought it was a sham. Words like fraudster, liar and salesman were used.”

Pelé could only respond to that claim with “talking to different people”, while pointing to an overall process.

Suffice it to say, the Maple Leafs’ new direction is a surprise.

Granted, there were reports that the Devils were also interested in Chayka, but sources indicated the interest did not amount to anything more than that, and was derived from Chayka’s past history with HBSE.

Thus, it’s Chayka’s turn in Toronto, who hasn’t had much to do in his first managerial stint with the Arizona Coyotes. And it certainly feels like the Sundin hire is partly to help win over the doubters with the nostalgia that comes with being a Hall-of-Famer.

While the devils went in a different direction. Of course, it’s true that Mehta is a good fit because he was previously in the Devils organization.

However, Mehta’s resume – which landed him the Devils GM position – has earned HBSE a universally A-grade in terms of recruiting.

He helped build the Devils’ hockey analytics department, exposed Jesper Bratt in the 2016 NHL Draft, moved to the Washington Capitals — and also helped build their analytics department before being employed by the Florida Panthers and helping them win two Stanley Cups.

Certainly, Chayka – CEO of JKC Capital, a family-run business that reportedly owns 50 Wendy’s franchises and five Tim Hortons franchises in Ontario and Quebec – has plenty of runway to prove us all wrong.

However, as it stands, the Devils appear to be the adults in the room with home run fare, while the Maple Leafs fanned the flames in Toronto despite their intentions to stop the burning.

“An experience, you could say” – Celtic star on Rangers chaos and fan invasion

Celtic star Benjamin Nygren has admitted he didn’t know what to think when fans stormed the field following the win over rivals Rangers.

Soccer Scanlen has an interview Today with the 23-year-old. They discussed a variety of topics, including the incident that happened against Rangers at Ibrox earlier this month.

Hundreds of Celtic fans invaded the pitch following a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Danny Rohl’s side earlier this month.

Dramatic Celtic win leads to chaos

The attack began with Tomas Cavankara’s winning penalty, with Celtic fans storming the pitch from the Broomlawn Road stand. Rangers fans soon followed, leading to clashes on the pitch.

A member of the Celtic backroom coaching staff was also reportedly attacked during the chaos.

Several police officers, managers and fans were injured, with Police Scotland deploying mounted police and riot vans to restore order. Oliver Nygren witnessed the scene firsthand and admitted that it was quite an experience.

“It was a little chaotic but an experience, you could say. I’m glad we came away with the win,” He said.

“There’s always a lot of emotion in that match. There’s a lot of history between those clubs. You may have divided opinions about what happened after that.”

“No time to think”

The clash between Celtic and Rangers was the first time since 2018 that Celtic supporters were given their full allocation of 7,500 tickets at Ibrox.

Police later reported that some fans had entered the stadium without tickets, delaying the security operation earlier in the day. The Scottish Police Federation later claimed that commanders failed to respond quickly to the overcrowding.

He was not the only one who did not have time to think, Benjamin Nygren admitted that things changed very quickly.

“I didn’t have time to think,” He explained the result for Rangers.

“We won, celebrated on the field and suddenly a lot of fans came in and then from both sides. Then it was just a matter of going to the dressing room.”

For Benjamin Nygren, it was another reminder that Old Firm matches rarely end at the final whistle.

Celtic may have emerged victorious, but the chaotic scenes that followed ensured the result would be remembered for far longer than football.

Devils Blueline Chaos –

Devils Blueline Chaos – Lineup Changes and Growing Pains

What a strange time it is to be the New Jersey Devils.

There are a lot more questions than answers about the status of the organization between now and July 1, or perhaps, through the summer. One of the main questions will be on the blueline, and whether their veteran $9 million defenseman will still be with the Devils or their former second overall pick in 2022.

The Devils GM’s comments on the matter made things even more confusing. More information on that is in the link below.

Also below, some notes from practice and Tuesday’s lineup changes.

Elsewhere, Matthew Nease trade rumors, the latest 2026 NHL Draft rankings, and more.

Devil’s Trade Rumors and News

New Jersey Hockey Now: Yesterday’s deep dive highlighted GM Tom Fitzgerald’s latest denial of the Dougie Hamilton debacle, Hamilton’s ongoing media unavailability since the agent drama unfolded, and how the whole situation has made the blueline picture even bleaker heading into the summer. The noise surrounding the $7.4 million signing bonus he received on July 1 is keeping the trade buzz alive, and it’s raising real questions about Simon Nemec’s long-term fit in New Jersey.

On the ice yesterday, the Devils practiced Tuesday afternoon at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House with three games left in the current seven-game homestand. All expected players were on the ice (Brett Pace is week-to-week with a lower body issue).

Biggest change: Jesper Bratt and Arseny Gritsyuk switched positions. Gritsyuk is back with Cody Glass and Lenny Haminaho. Head coach Sheldon Keefe explained that by finding his game intellectually away from Jack, Bratt has been reunited with Jack Hughes – who operates on a whole ‘nother level, and if you’re not on pace, it’s hard to succeed (no pun intended).

📺 devil’s rink report: While on the blueline, I asked GM Tom Fitzgerald about his relationship with Dougie Hamilton after his public debacle earlier this season. His answer made things even more confusing. I looked at the latest Devils Rink report.

sportsnet: Look, if the national media can recognize the growing pressure in New Jersey, so can the Devils organization. Even they know the fact that they did nothing at the NHL trade deadline is shocking, especially in light of their recent history, like the previously mentioned Hamilton sermon and yesterday’s Simon Nemec discussion.

NHL Trade Talk, News and National Hockey Now

athletic: With the way New Jersey has gone this season and the possibility that they will miss the Stanley Cup playoffs, you should probably all be familiar with this list of the top prospects in the 2026 NHL Draft. Here are the latest rankings.

pittsburgh hockey now: Captain Sidney Crosby took a morning skate with the Pittsburgh Penguins yesterday. Here is the latest injury report from Dan Kingarski.

Montreal hockey now: Matthew Neese was at the center of trade rumors, and reportedly, the Montreal Canadiens could be in the mix.

Forever Blueshirts: New York Rangers captain JT Miller is making progress toward recovery from an upper-body injury, participating in the optional morning skate — his first time on the ice with teammates since landing on IR last week. Coach Mike Sullivan said he had had singles skates before and called it a sign of progress and expected to return “sooner or later” while taking it day by day.

“That’s why I quit” – coach on ‘complete chaos’ at Sunderland

Former Sunderland coach Mark McCormick has explained why he left the club just one year into his three-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

Kicker today had an interview with the former Sunderland coach. He explains why he left North East prematurely.

McCormick served as Head of Coach Development at Sunderland between 2017 and 2018. He was appointed in September that year to lead the development of coaches within the Black Cats academy service.

He joined Australian club Northern Tigers FC, where he was first team manager. However, his time at Sunderland would only last for a year.

Instead, he found himself in the midst of one of the most turbulent periods in Sunderland’s history. That season saw a high turnover of first-team managers, including Simon Grayson and Chris Coleman, which ultimately led to their relegation to League One.

All of this was detailed in full during the first season of the Netflix drama Sunderland ‘Til I Die. This sometimes featured the Academy’s work at the Stadium of Light, although McCormick was not personally involved.

His departure was a piece of chaos but ultimately made sense to him. Since his exit, he has established a significant coaching career in Austria, progressing from youth development to several high-level support management roles in the Austrian Bundesliga and Second League.

Why was Sunderland a mixed bag?

McCormick is now the assistant manager at SKN St. Pölten, where he earned his UEFA Pro License at the end of November 2025.

That was the main focus of his interview with Kicker, but he still couldn’t resist asking about Sunderland.

“The work at Sunderland was fantastic,” He said.

“The whole city is behind this working-class club. In the Championship, we would usually have 40,000 spectators. But it was complete chaos, as anyone can see in the documentary Sunderland ‘Till I Die.

“That’s why I left after a year, even though I had a three-year contract. And I also wanted to get back on the field myself and not just watch other people all the time. Thankfully, Cem (Sekarlioglu) took me back to Austria Vienna.”
