The club are keeping a close eye on the Bournemouth star at the World Cup – names on the list to watch

Juventus officials plan to keep a close eye bournemouth Forward Justin Kluivert at the World Cup this summer.

Gazzetta dello sport report The Dutch player is in the sights of Juventus as they plan to make changes to their squad in the coming months.

Bournemouth star added to list

The newspaper reports that Justin Kluivert has been added to Juventus’ summer transfer shortlist. The Italian club plans to keep a close eye on him at the World Cup, where he will take part Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands team.

The forward’s ‘rebirth’ under Andoni Ierola at Bournemouth has not gone unnoticed. The Spaniard’s decision to move him centrally resulted in a ‘season above double figures’ and a place in the Netherlands World Cup squad.

Juventus currently favor Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, but Kluivert is an alternative option. In fact, he is ‘ready to present himself’ as a direct transfer rival to the Spaniard.

His work in the Premier League is already impressing but Juventus also value the fact that he has adjusted to Serie A.

serie a second chance

Although his time at Roma early in his career may have been disappointing, the feeling he left behind is now far behind. The 27-year-old player has proven himself in the Premier League. Now he may be ready to prove himself again in Serie A.

There is no mention yet of any attempt to get the transfer done. Or what assessment Bournemouth would give their player.

He is currently valued at €25m by the likes of Transfermarkt. The key could be his contract, which runs until 2028. It means this summer could be Bournemouth’s last chance to secure a top fee before he enters the final year of his deal next summer.

For now, it seems that Juventus are simply considering him as an option. If he impresses at the World Cup, this option could become more solid.

Watford close to managerial appointment – two-year deal ready for Italian

managerial drama watford It has always been a strange watch and now it is about to take a new turn.

Ed Still was removed from his post last month after less than two months in charge. He was the Hornets’ third manager of the campaign and instability played a role in a disappointing 16th-place finish.

The Pozo family are no strangers to making tough decisions, but would ideally like to move up the table in the upcoming season.

The next candidate to become Watford manager has now been identified.

dionysi on the way

Journalist Luca Cerchione The manager in question is former Sassuolo boss Alessio Dionisi, the report says. The Italian was last in charge of Empoli, who failed to get out of Serie B in the previous campaign.

It is believed that talks between Watford and the 46-year-old are progressing. But overall, Dionisi is expected to take charge of the London club soon.

He is likely to sign a two-year deal and will earn £500k per season. The information from Italy seems to be somewhat more advanced than that reported in England, and the move is now going in the right direction.

Dionisi’s career is in decline

At one point, Dionisi was seen as one of Italy’s best young managers. That is why he replaced Roberto De Zerbi at Sassuolo, but his tenure was a disastrous failure. This is one of the reasons why Nerovedi also got demoted soon.

Since then, Dionisi has been stuck in Italian football managerial purgatory. He has not made the huge leap into stardom and finds himself as a Serie B-proven boss. His stint at Palermo had sparks of his old attacking style but it also ended in failure.

As a result, Watford are taking risks. Recent years have not been enough to show whether the manager has lived up to his early promise. If it goes well, Dionisi will also benefit from it and will be able to get his reputation back on track.

Player ‘could be headed’ to Tottenham – Barcelona could benefit from move to Spurs, keeping close watch

Barcelona is monitoring the situation of Sergi Dominguez Tottenham Hotspur Appearing as her new lover.

The 21-year-old player graduated from Barcelona’s academy, but was unable to cement a place at the Camp Nou.

Therefore, Barcelona sold him to Dinamo Zagreb in July 2025 for around €1.2m. He could be on the move again as Tottenham are emerging as a candidate to sign the defender.

From Italy, Lazio have shown interest in the centre-back, who has played 3,153 minutes in 44 matches for the Croatian club.

Tottenham join Lazio in transfer battle

Journalist alfredo pedulla The Serie A side are keen on Sergi Dominguez and have held talks with his representatives, according to reports.

He also mentioned that there is talk of an offer of around €4-5 million by Lazio, but they would need at least three times that amount to convince Dinamo Zagreb. The Italian club will also have to be wary of Roberto De Zerbi’s team.

In the past few hours, Spurs have emerged as a new suitor for the former Barcelona player and are showing ‘strong interest’.

Tuesday’s edition of sports world Broadcast this claim and then provide your own updates.

Barcelona are monitoring the defender’s situation amid latest claims of interest from Lazio and Spurs. This is because La Liga winners will receive 20% of the profits from its future sales.

However, sources have informed Mundo that there are no formal offers on the table yet.

Another Catalan newspaper, gameFirst broadcast Pedulla’s claim and then share your perspective.

After an impressive debut season, Dominguez is ‘almost certain to be sold in the coming weeks.’

Sports suggest the Spaniard ‘could be on the move’ to Tottenham this summer.

First-choice centre-backs Christian Romero and Micky Van de Ven could both leave Spurs this season.

Last month, Sports Witness broadcast news The Premier League team would need at least €60m to let the Argentine leave.

Dominguez could be an option for Tottenham, who, according to Sport, could be willing to pay up to €9m. If he arrives in London for €9m, Barcelona could make a profit of €2m from the deal.

Our Opinion: Wait for more updates

Alfredo Pedulla just reported strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Barça’s local Medica is excited about the option.

The Catalan media have a tendency to publicize anything positive or beneficial for Barça.

Therefore, it is worth seeing if sources in Croatia or England either support this or rule out Spurs as a credible target.

Bernardo Silva is set to become a free agent this summer after choosing to leave Manchester City. Reports have subsequently linked him to a move to clubs across Europe.

Juventus have been keen for some time, with Sport Witness covering a report stating that they have organized Positive talks with Galatasaray about a move this summer.

griezmann replacement

It is reported that Atlético view Silva as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann. And as a result talks began about a possible move this summer.

Reportedly, they were taking advantage of the fact that the Manchester City man wanted to be closer to his family in Portugal after spending nine years in England. Moving to Spain would definitely make it easier.

Sabuncuoglu now reports that negotiations are now in an advanced stage and both sides are close to an agreement. He makes no mention of the contract terms or the deal at this time.

Now, Sport Witness says it has not yet been reported in Spain. Therefore, it is advisable to take the news with utmost caution.

Agreement on all fronts – Manchester United close to €50m signing

Manchester United Atalanta are closing in on a deal for midfielder Ederson to join this summer.

Journalist Michel Crisatillo reports that the deal for the Brazilian is almost closed. Manchester United are ready to pay €50m with ‘agreements on all fronts’.

manchester united off

According to the journalist, Ederson is headed to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United having reached an agreement for his potential Casemiro replacement.

The former Real Madrid player is departing on a free transfer at the end of June, leaving Manchester United with a huge hole to fill in their midfield.

The 34-year-old has been revitalized under Michael Carrick, who has played a key role in guiding United to Champions League football. He has been asked to stay for another year, but he is leaving. A move to Inter Miami looks likely to link up with Lionel Messi.

And it seems Manchester United have wasted no time in securing his replacement. According to Crisatiello, the deal for Ederson is almost complete. United have reached agreement on all fronts on a €50m deal for the Atalanta midfielder.

manchester united sprint

Reports throughout the month indicated that he was a potential target at Old Trafford this summer.

In fact, a report tomorrow Manchester United are said to be confident of signing both Ederson and Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali this summer.

Earlier last week, there was a report stating that Manchester United were moving fast to secure a deal for Ederson.

He took advantage of Atletico Madrid’s lack of interest in the 26-year-old player and took the lead himself. Now it seems that a deal is nearing completion.

The question is whether he will be the only midfielder this summer. Or will Manchester United turn their attention elsewhere once this deal is completed, for example Newcastle and Sandro Tonali.

Brentford transfer close to completion – ‘fundamental agreement’ reached, player confident

Jannik Schuster’s move brentford Now nearing completion with ‘fundamental agreement’.

sky sports austria report The deal for the 19-year-old is now in the advanced stages. According to his knowledge, his transfer to Brentford is close to being finalised.

brentford agreement

The outlet reports that although no contract has been signed yet, an agreement in principle has been reached. Brentford have beaten other Premier League teams and Serie A side Kou to sign him.

The 19-year-old was reportedly impressed with Brentford’s project from the start. He is aware of his history of being a good stepping stone for young talent. The fact that Keith Andrews’ side are also in contention for Europe is another bonus.

According to Sky, the total deal including bonuses will be worth just over €20m. This would make Schuster the most expensive sale for an Austrian player in the history of the league.

He would surpass the previous record set by Nicolas Seewald when he moved to RB Leipzig. He would be joint tenth with Seewald and Erling Haaland in terms of record departures for RB Salzberg. Dominik Szoboszlai is headlined by a €36 million move to RB Leipzig in 2021.

Where does Schuster fit in at Brentford?

Whether the centre-back is seen as an immediate reinforcement to Brentford’s first team, or as a player for the future, remains to be seen.

The Bees already have strong options in central defence, with Sepp van den Bergh, Nathan Collins, Kristoffer Ajer and Ethan Pinnock to choose from.

But they are not immune to blooding youth quickly, and clearly have confidence in Jannik Schuster if they are willing to pay €20m to get him this summer.

Now the deal is done and in the final stages, only final confirmation is left. After that, the youngster can start working on convincing Brentford that it was money well spent.

“Close to anarchy” – concerns in Portugal over player’s Chelsea transfer

chelsea’s Giovanni Quenda’s plans focus mainly on growth, recovery and long-term integration. However, not everyone in Portugal is on board with the idea that Stamford Bridge is the right next step.

The 18-year-old has just returned to action for Sporting after being out for almost four months fractured fifth metatarsal. Chelsea oversaw his recovery in Londonprepared him physically and essentially Started preparing him for Premier League life Before he officially arrived.

Now he’s back, fit, sharp to press for minutes in decisive matches. Naturally, the focus is again turning to what happens next.

And in Portugal some people have very raised eyebrows.

Concerns increased in Portugal after withdrawal

called out in an opinion article “Don’t lose yourself, Kwenda.” published by to ballExecutive editor Fernando Urbano does not hold back in his assessment of Quenda’s move to Chelsea.

He starts off with praise, making it clear what kind of talent we’re dealing with.

“Players like Giovani Kwenda are becoming rare. He is courageous, he takes on defenders and embraces one-on-ones in a way that is increasingly uncommon.”

Then comes the twist.

“I fear that the decision to go to Chelsea could be a very bad choice. For him and, as a consequence, for the national team.”

Urbano outlined the context of Cuenda’s recent months at Sporting, before his arrival at Chelsea.

The winger was a key part of the club’s title-winning campaign last season. However, this year has been more complicated. The injury kept him out for almost four months and Sporting missed him.

There were also moments when Jenny Katamo took advantage of the situation and dropped Kwenda from the starting eleven.

Even now, there are signs that the player is still working to get back to full intensity. Urbano points to the recent match at Dragao, where the winger’s lack of explosiveness was noticeable after a long layoff.

At the same time, Portuguese journalists highlight a major strength in Quenda’s profile. Under both Rubén Amorim and Rui Borges, he developed strong defensive awareness, playing as a wing-back in a 3–4–3 system. That tactical background could prove valuable in England.

Chelsea’s criticism deepens

The logic behind the concern is not new, but it is clearly stated.

“For many years now, the London club has been run like a computer game, where money is plentiful and standards are scarce.”

Urbano also expands on that idea by pointing to the widespread Bleuco model, where players are often moved between clubs like Strasbourg without clear long-term direction.

There is also a widespread perception that Chelsea lack stability at the moment.

“It is in this context, close to anarchy, that Kwenda will come,” he writes, describing a club he sees as having an identity crisis.

According to Urbano, the current situation has reminded fans of the Roman Abramovich era, when the club felt more structured and decisive.

A ‘lottery’ with high ceilings

Giovanni Quenda’s condition has been described as precarious rather than catastrophic, but there is no sugar coating this.

“When the season starts, there may be 30 to 40 players reporting to Stamford Bridge, and there will be at least four or five players competing for his place.”

“It will be a lottery for Kwenda,” Urbano says. At the same time, there is a clear acknowledgment of the reversal, almost as a warning and a compliment.

“But if he comes out on top, it will be a testament to life – being successful in that environment will mean he can be successful anywhere.”

In other words, survive Chelsea and you can survive anything.

Context remains important for Chelsea

Giovani Quenda would not be arriving at Chelsea under normal circumstances. The club invested approximately £43.5 million (€50 million+), took control of his recovery, and have already begun to prepare him physically and mentally for what is to come.

This is the club version of the story. The tone from Portugal is more cautious. There is praise for the player, but there is a lot of doubt about the environment in which he is stepping.

For now, Kwenda’s job is simple. Get minutes, regain full intensity and finish the season strong with Sporting.

Very little can be predicted as to what will happen next. And if Urbano is right, it may depend as much on the chaos around him as on his own talent.

Close attention given to Ipswich Town’s season – growing desperation for a permanent transfer

After performing well in the Premier League last season, Jens Cageste returned to Ipswich Town last summer. Napoli are now keeping a close eye on how the Championship season will end.

The Swede played 30 times in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign, and became a key player for Kieran McKenna. In the current season, he has played 29 times in the Championship and contributed five goals.

Earlier in the campaign, sports witness Critical praise was included for the midfielder. This came just after impressing in the league game against West Brom.

Although he has been on the bench a few times in recent weeks, Ipswich Town cannot find a role in his long-term situation. This will become the case if they earn promotion to the English top-flight.

arianapoli Take a look at Napoli’s stance as they become desperate for his permanent exit.

napoli wants money

The outlet noted how Napoli are keeping a close eye on the Championship. They are hoping to see Ipswich Town gain promotion, with Coventry City having already confirmed their return to the Premier League.

They make it clear that if McKenna’s side moves forward, their obligation to purchase Cajete will be fulfilled. a loan fee of €2m had already been paid in the summer, with an obligation to buy at €7.5m.

Desperation for that money is growing, as it will provide little help to Napoleonicites. He saw Caste struggle in Italy during the 2023/24 season, forcing him to part ways with them just one season after his arrival.

Ipswich Town may not be too keen

Against Middlesbrough, Cajste was not even in the team and the same was true against Norwich, against whom Ipswich Town had no problems.

The 26-year-old’s prominence is waning. Napoli apparently wouldn’t mind if McKenna leads his club back to the Premier League.

This allows them to avoid losing other key players and gain some leverage to sign important targets. As for Ipswich Town, they may already be scouting potential suitors for Cajste ahead of the summer window.

New York Giants may be close to completing Dexter Lawrence trade

The New York Giants have been working on building a roster that is capable of competing for a playoff spot in 2026 throughout the offseason. Moving on from Brian Daboll and hiring a former Super Bowl winner in John Harbaugh is a big part of that. So was Dexter Lawrence, whom Harbaugh called a “medium stone” rather than a franchise cornerstone.

Yet, in recent weeks, the Giants have apparently reached an impasse after Lawrence informed them he wanted a raise on his current four-year, $87.5 million deal, where he ranks as the 12th-highest-paid DT with an average of $21.8 million per season.

After Lawrence determined that the Giants would not back down from his salary increase request, the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle demanded a trade. Now, there has been some movement on that front.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants have indeed reached a contract “impasse” with Lawrence and his agent.

“The Giants have worked with teams on a potential trade and that will continue,” Rapoport wrote. “This should come out before the draft. By the time the draft arrives, the Giants should have a full understanding of the league-wide interest in Dexter Lawrence, allowing them to make an important decision regarding him and his future.”

RELATED: 6 best Dexter Lawrence landing spots after Giants trade request

Several teams have likely already expressed interest in trading for Lawrence. Now that the team has come to an understanding that they will not pay Lawrence’s demands, the possibility of a trade has increased. Plus, with the 2026 NFL Draft only two weeks away, the Giants have a golden window to execute a trade and still have a chance to improve their team/fill the hole left by Lawrence.

Although many teams are in need of a better defensive tackle, there is no one who is viewed as a sure-fire first-round pick. Meanwhile, trading for Lawrence gives teams a chance to make sure they address their weakness with a proven superstar. Thus, competing teams that feel like they are just a stone’s throw away may pay special attention to Lawrence’s market.

Bo Jackson reveals how close he came to leaving Ohio State in transfer portal

For the first time, Ohio State star running back Bo Jackson responded to rumors that he was considering leaving the Buckeyes in the transfer portal.

During the Buckeyes’ run to the national championship during the 2024 season, the team had a major two-headed monster in the backfield. Quinshawn Judkins passed for 1,060 yards and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in Round 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft. His teammate Treveon Henderson posted 1,016 yards and averaged 7.1 yards per rush. This is why he was also selected in Round 2 by the New England Patriots.

This has created a huge void in the backfield that will be nearly impossible to fill in just one offseason. However, right from the start, freshman Bo Jackson did an admirable job of trying to fill that numbers job with 1,090 yards and a 6.1 average per carry in his first season.

After putting up such good numbers as a rookie for a title contender, his representation undoubtedly told him he might be able to command an even better payday in the transfer portal. There were rumors that he might jump. However, Ohio State did what it should have done and gave him zero pay increases for 2026.

But how close was he to actually testing his value in the transfer portal? “It really wasn’t a difficult decision [to stay]Jackson told the media at spring practice this week. “This is where I want to be, so I’m here where I want to be.”

The running back claimed that speculation about him leaving Ohio State in the winter was “just rumors.” Luckily for Buckeyes fans, it looks like the change of scenery never really came to a close, and he’ll be back in Columbus this year.

From Argentina: Chelsea close to star signing – deal moves forward but ‘not finalized yet’

Chelsea are now moving from interest to action in the pursuit of Valentin Barco, and Argentine sources indicate that the deal is practically done.

For months, Liam Rosenior’s desire to reunite with the Argentine has shaped the club’s thinking. The Blues attempted to sign him in January But fell short. However, he never moved away from the idea.

This season, Barco has made 35 appearances in all competitions. He has recorded one goal and ten assists, establishing himself as one of Strasbourg’s main creative outlets.

He is one of the team’s top chance creators and is averaging close to two key passes per game. Furthermore, he contributes heavily in the build-up phases, with a strong volume of progressive passes.

that’s the profile Convinced Chelsea to take decisive action. And now, the situation seems to be accelerating.

The deal is moving forward – but not quite complete yet

Argentinian journalist Augustus Caesar There are now reports that Barco “will be a Chelsea player” with an agreement to move in June.

According to him, talks gained momentum after the international break. It is said that everything has been agreed for the midfielder to join in the summer, despite interest from Bayern Munich.

However, there is still some caution from other sources.

Journalist German Garcia Growa Chelsea are reported to be moving forward in negotiations, but a final agreement has not yet been reached. Sources close to the situation in London say there is still work to be done before everything can be signed.

The difference is significant, but the deal appears to be on the right track.

bluco structure key for transfer

Chelsea’s ownership model is playing a decisive role. Both Chelsea and Strasbourg are part of the Bluco group. This makes conversation much simpler than a normal transfer. There have already been several moves between clubs in the recent window.

Barco fits perfectly into that path. And Rosenier knows exactly how to use it. Meanwhile, the player has already adapted to European football and is now performing consistently at Ligue 1 level.

Hopes now focus on the summer window. Chelsea’s pressing has intensified and the club appear to be in control of the situation. The remaining step is to convert the advanced talks into a formal agreement.

If that happens, it will be the result of a clear plan: identify a player, develop him within the same ownership structure, and then bring him into the first team at the right time.

“Very close” – Chelsea star transfer seen as possible scenario if exit is closed

Enzo Fernandez
London, United Kingdom – 09 30 2025: Enzo Fernandez is seen during the Champions League league stage game between Chelsea FC and SL Benfica

Chelsea are once again facing increasing noise around Enzo Fernandez and his move away from Stamford Bridge, with the Spaniard’s latest claims suggesting the situation is rapidly changing.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent times. Earlier reports had him as one of several options, with Rodri seen as the priority target. However, that stance now seems to be changing.

It follows the first Updates covered this morningWhere Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo described Fernandez as a “guaranteed signing” profile for Madrid, highlighting both his leadership and World Cup pedigree. However, at that stage, he was still designed as an option rather than the main focus.

Change in thinking of Real Madrid

According to journalist Raul Varela, speaking radio brandThe situation has now tilted significantly in favor of Fernandez.

He said: “Enzo is very close to Madrid, Rodri has no chance to go to Madrid. Today, the president does not want to sign Rodri.”

That’s a strong claim, especially considering that Rodri was widely seen as the ideal midfield addition. The argument appears to be both financial and strategic, with age and long-term value playing a role.

Enzo Fernandez Comments and Feedback

Enzo Fernandez’s own words have also added fuel to the fire. As we covered earlierHe said he would “really love” to stay in Madrid.

That comment went unnoticed. one more Mark Journalist Irene Junquera suggested that the midfielder may not feel completely comfortable in London and is ready for a change. He said such comments were unlikely to be well received internally at Chelsea.

This cannot be completely true. In same podcast He spoke about the possibility of staying in Madrid, with Enzo saying: “I like language [English]. I speak it, I understand it. It’s not like I’m roaming on the streets all day. But inside the club I say it every day with everyone.

Anyhow, other voices on the same program took a more football-centric approach. Journalist Amalio Moratalla highlighted Fernández’s quality and suitability for Madrid.

“He is a top-class player who will definitely fit in at Real Madrid; the question is what price Chelsea will set and what effort Real Madrid will have to make,” He said.

While Nacho Palencia pointed to the appeal of joining a club of that stature.

“It’s Real Madrid that wants you, not Antequera [an amateur level side from Spain]. It is a very favorable situation for the player and his family, and Madrid needs a player of that profile; This will be a very beneficial deal for both parties.

What does this mean for Chelsea

Enzo Fernandez will remain under contract at Chelsea until 2032, and his current market value sits around €90m (£77m) transfer market. However, with Chelsea having paid €123m (£106.8m), any deal may need to exceed that figure.

So Chelsea is still in a strong position. Still, the story is developing. Earlier reports had described Madrid’s interest as exploratory. Now, at least in Spain, there is a growing belief that Fernandez is the more realistic signing.

At present there has been no confirmation of formal talks. Nevertheless, a combination of player comments, media support and changing priorities in Madrid keeps it tenaciously alive.

what happens next

The Enzo Fernandez situation looks set to become one of the major stories of the summer.

If Real Madrid advances decisively, Chelsea will face a major decision. They can either protest and build around him, or consider a sale that would reshape their midfield.

A lot may depend on timing. Fernandez has previously said he would do so Assess his future after the World Cup. Until then, Chelsea may face continued noise and increasing pressure over one of their biggest investments.

mikel merino

Arsenal’s Mikel Merino hopes to regain fitness soon and make a World Cup berth with Spain.

The midfielder last made an appearance in Arsenal’s 3-2 Premier League defeat against Manchester United in January. He scored his team’s second goal at the Emirates.

Marino underwent foot surgery and has been on the sidelines since. Before going under the knife, Mikel Arteta said it was a “very rare injury” and that he was unsure about his return.

The Gunners have also not made any clear communication about when the Spain international could return to action.

On 4 February, the Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi said He is unsure about his compatriot’s participation in the World Cup. He said the 29-year-old has gone through a painful period, but is optimistic for the summer.

On Friday, Sports Witness Covered claims from Spain That his injury situation is causing more concern for the national team than other injured players.

Arsenal’s camp of players remains hopeful

Thursday edition of As La Roja has another report on the players who are not currently part of Luis de la Fuente’s squad for this international break and their chances of making the World Cup.

The focus has been on Arsenal’s Mikel Merino, Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal and Paris Saint-Germain’s Fabian Ruiz.

Carvajal has been performing regularly in recent weeks, but his chances of making the World Cup depend on the level he shows towards the end of the season.

PSG are hopeful that Ruiz will return to the field next month.

It is ‘too early’ to know whether Merino will be available for the summer FIFA tournament.

However, sources close to the Arsenal player have told the newspaper that he will be ready for the World Cup. In short, the versatile star is expected to be fit soon. This is good news for Mikel Arteta and the north London club.

Merino has played 1,877 minutes in 33 matches, scoring six goals and three assists.

Luka Doncic close to breaking Stephen Curry’s record after strong start against Pacers

The Los Angeles Lakers continued their late-season streak by defeating the Indiana Pacers 137-130 on Wednesday night behind another stellar performance from Luka Doncic. The Slovenian star finished with 43 points, seven assists and six rebounds, his league-leading 14th 40-point game of the season.

Setting the pace early, Doncic scored 21 points in the first quarter, his eighth instance of a 20-point span this season, approaching Stephen Curry’s 2015–16 record of 11. He reached 11 consecutive 30-point games, equaling the longest streak in the last 20 years.

The 27-year-old has been historically productive during this period, averaging 40.7 points on the Lakers’ six-game road trip, the first player to average 40 over that span since Michael Jordan in 1986-87. He currently leads the NBA in scoring with 33.6 points per game.

Doncic shot 15 of 30 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, including five 40-point games in his last 11 outings.

Los Angeles (47-26) took control of the game early and went on a 10-0 run to lead 45-28 after one quarter. They led by 29 points and entered the fourth quarter ahead 105–85 before Indiana (16–57) made a late push to cut the margin to six in the final minute.

LeBron James contributed 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while Austin Reaves finished with 25 points and eight assists. Jackson Hayes recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Playing without Deandre Ayton, Rui Hachimura and Marcus Smart, the Lakers finished the road trip 5-1 and have now won 13 of their last 15 games. They sit in third place in the Western Conference with nine games remaining and next host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

“Very close to Manchester United” – Barcelona misses the product transfer opportunity: “United is the biggest in the PL”

barcelona

Martin Montoya has revealed how he came very close to joining Manchester United as a youth player when he was coming through the Barcelona system.

mundo deportivo cover quote Today we hear from the 34-year-old and how he followed almost the same path as Gerard Pique, who moved to Old Trafford, and Cesc Fabregas, who moved to Arsenal.

Barcelona’s youth were targeted

Martín Montoya was a product of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy and made 67 appearances for the first team, as well as 75 appearances for the club’s B team.

Despite serving primarily as a backup to Dani Alves, he was also a major honor winner at the Camp Nou, with three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles, a Champions League and a Supercopa de España.

However his career could have been very different. This is because Manchester United called him when he was young.

“I was very close to Manchester United,” he told journalist Rodrigo Rei.

“When I was young, I was close to playing for Manchester United. They came to offer me a contract, like they did with Cesc Fabregas and Pique.

“They offered you to spend four years in England, but at the time I didn’t want to do that. My dream was to play for Barcelona. For me, United is the biggest team in the Premier League.”

Interestingly, Montoya will play alongside both Pique and Fabregas for Barcelona. This, at least, justified the decision for all three.

brighton mantra

Montoya eventually reached England when he joined Brighton on a €7m deal in 2018. He spent two years with the Seagulls and made 56 appearances in total.

This saw him matched with Alexis McAllister. He is currently at Liverpool but reports in England have linked him with a potential shock move this summer. Montoya, for his part, is a fan.

“I spent six months with him; he came and then took a loan and went to Boca,” He said.

“Really a fantastic player, although at the time we didn’t think he would reach the level he is now. He was very young, barely spoke English, but as a person he is a star and as a footballer, he is performing brilliantly and has a huge future.”

Why the Pelicans should take a close look at 5 players in the 2026 March Madness Sweet 16 round

Even though the front office has already used their 2026 NBA Draft pick on Derrick Queen, the New Orleans Pelicans will be scouring NCAA March Madness for some late second-round pick intel, especially during Sweet Sixteen action. Arkansas, UConn, Illinois and Houston are filled with former McDonald’s All-Americans thriving in supporting cast roles. St. John’s is obviously a sleeper, but they also have a great heritage connection that’s worth noting.

Fortunately, the current roster construction makes NBA Draft scouting priorities clear. Dejounte Murray is the current at point guard, while Jeremiah Fears represents the future. Trey Murphy III has a wing spot secured, and Zion Williamson anchors the frontcourt when healthy. This leaves two glaring needs for the Pelicans: another wing/off-ball guard to act as Herb Jones insurance and a reliable big to step up Yves Missy and Derrick Queen for minutes.

The Sweet Sixteen provides a timely scouting window for five under-the-radar names who fit those ideals.

Pelicans look for shooters

Houston Cougars guard Emmanuel Sharp (21) passes Arizona Wildcats guard Anthony Dell'Orso (3) during the second half during the men's Big 12 Conference Tournament championship at T-Mobile Center.
William Purnell-Imagen Images

Andrej Stojakovic (SG/SF, Illinois) Averaged 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds, but production fluctuated wildly. A 30-point game is sandwiched between a week’s single-point duels. He completely disappeared against Michigan (0 points, 1 rebound, 2 fouls, 1 turnover) and dropped 21 points and 12 rebounds on Oregon in the next game. Finding a way to stoke that fire for an 82-game season is perhaps the most challenging step in developing a player.

Shooting (24.1%3PA) is also an issue. He has made only three three-pointers since Valentine’s Day; However, shooting 62% from inside the arc and his rim-attacking mentality give him a realistic NBA offensive floor. Stojakovic’s size, coupled with his pedigree and versatility at the shooting guard/small forward position, should draw real front-office attention when Illinois takes on Houston.

There is never a dull moment together Emmanuel Sharp (SG, Houston)A senior sharpshooter who has quietly spent four years becoming one of the best two-way guards in college basketball. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is averaging 15.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game this season, while shooting 40.7% from the field and a career-high 37.5% from three-point range. He was named to the All-Big 12 Team, the Big 12 All-Defensive Team, and earned Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after averaging 20.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and three 3-pointers per game in three tournament games.

Houston’s run to its sixth consecutive Sweet Sixteen is based, in part, on Sharp’s reliability. He scored 18 points in the second-round win over Texas A&M and is averaging 17.0 points through two tournament games. He is now Houston’s career 3-point field goal leader with 277 triples. For the Pelicans, Sharp represents the off-ball shooting guard and glue-guy ideal they often lack. Consider a high-upside Jose Alvardao replacement. Sharp is a player who is capable of guarding multiple positions, spacing the floor, and competing in high-leverage possession with or without the ball.

If the Pelicans prioritize toughness and defensive tenacity, Sharp is a logical target. A key part of Kelvin Sampson’s suffocating system, the scrappy fighter brings an edge that translates to winning basketball.

Sweet Sixteen’s Slugfest

LSU Tigers forward Robert Miller III (6) has a shot blocked by Arkansas Razorbacks forward Trevon Brazile (7) during the first half at the Smoothie King Center.
Matthew Hinton-Imagen Images.

With apologies to Coach Cal, Trayvon Brazile (PF/C, Arkansas) Perhaps the most astute individual in the Sweet Sixteen. Public draft boards took him anywhere from his late 20s and never heard his name called, even though the 6-foot-10, 230-pound Arkansas forward averaged 13.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 53% from the field. He has posted multiple double-doubles during SEC play, including a career-high 28-point outburst against Texas.

What makes the Brazilian particularly attractive to a Pelicans team in roster flux is his combination of length and touch. He has a wingspan of 7 feet 3.75 inches and a maximum height of 41 inches, giving him the physical profile of a legitimate NBA rim protector and rebounder. He also demonstrated range this season and shot 36% from beyond the arc, a skill that matches up well with Williamson in modern frontcourt alignments.

If there is any doubt Tyrese Reed Jr. (PF/C, UConn) were in the NBA conversation, his first-round performance against Furman erased it. The 6-foot-11, 265-pound center scored 31 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in the Huskies’ 82–71 opening round victory, a stat line that had not been posted in an NCAA Tournament game since Bill Walton in 1972. Reed made 15 of 15 shots from the field in that performance and became the first player in 54 years to have 30 points, 20 rebounds and shoot 80% from the field. In a tournament game.

Reed’s regular season statistics are equally impressive. He averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds with a 62.5% field goal percentage and earned first-team All-Big East honors after being named the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year last season. He transferred to UConn after two seasons at Michigan, and the adjustment to Dan Hurley’s program has been seamless. The knock on Reed remains his free-throw shooting (54.6%), a flaw that may limit his NBA range but shouldn’t disqualify him from being a late second-round flyer.

Finally, looking at the biggest underdog, Dillon Mitchell (PF, St. John’s) This is probably the most interesting name on this list, as he doesn’t appear in the box score like a traditional prospect. The 6-foot-8-inch, 205-pound forward from Tampa is averaging 8.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and a remarkable 3.1 assists per game this season, while shooting 55.2%. Those assist numbers from a power forward are essentially unheard of, and they reflect a skill set that clearly translates to the modern NBA.

A long, switchable, pass-first frontcourt piece who can run the offense on multiple levels, Mitchell may be the best low-risk, high-reward prospect to put next to Derrick Queen. Maybe not long term, but it would make for some fun NBA Summer League hoops this summer. St. John’s has gone 19-1 at one point since Mitchell was reinserted into the starting lineup this season, and that’s no coincidence.

Mitchell is a McDonald’s All-American who has played at three programs (Texas, Cincinnati) after becoming one of the most highly traveled portal prospects in recent memory, and his basketball IQ has only sharpened under Rick Pitino.

As the Sweet Sixteen unfolds, the focus will naturally fall on the star players and Cinderella stories. However, for the Pelicans’ scouting department, the real task is to evaluate how these five potential second-round targets handle the pressure of high-stakes tournament basketball. In the margins of the NBA Draft, intel is the currency, and New Orleans would be wise to collect as much as possible on this quintet of underdogs.

How Paul Pierce is staying close with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown

BOSTON — Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce grew up in downtown Los Angeles and was even a Lakers fan as a kid, but he didn’t hesitate to call Beantown home on Sunday afternoons.

“It’s always good to be back here,” he said, standing at the TD Garden after the Causeway Classic, a fan event presented by Ticketmaster. “This is home, so to be able to give back to the fans every time I come out, for what they’ve been able to do to support me in my career, it means a lot. At times like these you remember what you left for this building, for the city. And so I enjoy it every time.”

Like Pierce, Boston wasn’t always home to Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

They were born elsewhere, yet unfamiliarity was not the only reason they were initially hesitant to embrace the city. Tatum, like Pierce, grew up a Lakers fan and dreamed that the Celtics’ hated rival would select him in the draft. Brown, meanwhile, was booed by Celtics fans on his draft night nearly 10 years ago for reasons beyond his control.

Despite these difficult introductions to Boston, Pierce has helped bridge the gap. As Tatum and Brown became superstars, the 2008 NBA Finals MVP supported them from afar and got to know them up close whenever he visited New England or when the Celtics traveled to LA.

“I’ve been happy for him since day one,” Pearce told ClutchPoints. “I’m always coming over and whenever they’re in Los Angeles, I try to watch their workouts… It’s just a brotherhood, no matter what the age difference is.”

Pierce is not the first Celtic to link up with the next generation of Green Teamers. He recalled that when he was playing more than a decade ago, Celtics legends like Bob Cousy and Jo Jo White would come to team practices. Those gestures did not go unnoticed, as Pierce said they were important to keeping the Celtics’ historic, winning culture alive.

“A lot of the former players were much older than me, but they always found a way to move forward and I try to do the same,” he said. “I try to maintain the heritage of Celtic culture by getting back into sports whenever I can.”

In addition to appearing in support of Tatum and Brown, Pierce has also spoken out. Whenever Boston’s dynamic duo draws the ire of the media — whether it’s in the form of arguments over fantasy chemistry issues or the constant comparison of the two stars — Pierce supports his guys.

“When I see things that I don’t think are right, I always call them out in the media because I feel like Boston players don’t get their due for the most part,” he revealed. “Brown not being in the Olympics, Tatum not getting minutes – I’m always advocating for them and rooting for them and fighting for them.”

Following their victory in a friendly 3-point contest on Garden Parquette as part of the Causeway Classic, Pierce will probably stick around to watch his pupils take the same floor in a few hours when they face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night. And it doesn’t matter if Pierce is sitting in a luxury suite or courtside, don’t be surprised if he gets to his feet to cheer on Tatum and Brown.

“I love seeing these guys succeed,” he said.

Jalen Green thought Phoenix should have ‘killed’ Bucks in close loss

PHOENIX – Jalen Green wondered why he couldn’t take advantage in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game between the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Milwaukee consistently doubled Devin Booker throughout the game, and clear advantages did not emerge.

Normally, the ball will continue to swing and into the hands of the open shooter. However, it felt like the offense was a step slower than normal.

The Suns scored 23 points in the quarter and hit only three of their ten triples. In the process, Booker doubled up and didn’t have much of a chance to score, which left Green wondering why he didn’t take advantage of it.

“I just think (when) our main guy is doubling, I think we should be able to hit them,” Green said in the locker room postgame after the 108–105 loss. “Whenever a double (team) gets sent in, we have to be able to beat them and get what we want.”

Jalen Green wants Suns to take advantage of mismatches

In his response, Green referenced what the team has done all season: take advantage of mismatches. This has happened countless times where Booker will be doubled, or someone like Dillon Brooks, and the ball will continue to turn over.

This happened quickly during Saturday’s loss but was not as sustained as in previous games.

When asked what specifically the problem was, Green was unsure.

“I need to watch film, but I think whenever I see a double take with our team, the guys out there, we should be able to hit them,” Green explained. “We got shooters spaced out on the floor. I don’t really know specifically what it was. They’re trying to take our best player out in the fourth and the other 4 players on the court won’t allow it, won’t allow it, so we have to help.”

During the team’s dry spell, the Suns have suffered a string of injuries, with six players reporting before Saturday’s game. Green doesn’t see this as an excuse in any way.

He understands what his team needs to do, and he needs to make a small change to ‘beat’ more teams if they want to do what Milwaukee tried to do.

How Brooklyn finally kicked the tank into overdrive during a close loss to the streaking Hawks

Thursday’s 108-97 loss to the Atlanta Hawks felt like a turning point for the Brooklyn Nets’ tanking efforts. With Igor Demin and Deron Sharp recently shut down for the season, the Nets ruled out Michael Porter Jr. (right ankle sprain), Nolan Traore (rest) and Ziaire Williams (illness) for the matchup.

When that wasn’t enough, he took matters into his own hands during the game.

Despite taking an 83–82 lead early in the fourth quarter, the Nets did not play their top two available players, Nick Claxton or Noah Clowney, for the entire final period. They even benched Josh Minot, who scored a season-high 24 points. Brooklyn’s closing lineup included two rookies and three two-way players: Tyson Etienne, Ben Saraf, Drake Powell, EJ Liddell and Cheney Johnson.

As the game progressed, it became clear that the Nets would not allow themselves to win. They’ll have to take measures like these if they hope to come out on top in a historic tank race.

Nets increase readiness for tanking during tough loss to Hawks

Brooklyn’s aggressive tank maneuvers on Thursday were followed by consecutive wins over the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday and Monday. Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez rode a veteran-heavy rotation to a 23-point comeback in Detroit, playing Michael Porter Jr. 39 minutes and benching rookies Ben Saraf and Traore. Despite the Grizzlies’ eight highest-paid players being sidelined on Monday, Brooklyn played most of its rotation and won 126–115.

However, Thursday’s loss signaled a philosophical shift in line with other tanking teams. For much of this season, the Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz and others have made extreme efforts to maximize their draft lottery odds, and for good reason.

The 2026 draft is one of the most talented in the last several decades, with three franchise-altering prospects – Darin Peterson, AJ DiBunsta and Cam Boozer – at the top.

These are the types of players the Nets had their eye on when they paid a hefty price to re-acquire 2025 and 2026 first-round picks from the Houston Rockets during the 2024 offseason. However, Brooklyn went soft last season, finishing with the NBA’s sixth-worst record and falling to the eighth pick in the draft, a mistake a rebuilding team cannot afford to make twice.

Nets owner Joe Tsai acknowledged this long before the season.

“We have a selection in 2026, and we hope to get a good selection. So you can guess what kind of strategy we will use for this season,” Tsai said.

The Nets still have an opportunity to put themselves in the optimal position to clinch the top spot. They have only one more win than the Wizards and Sacramento Kings, who are second and third, respectively, in the lottery standings, and two more than the Pacers, who are in the top spot. Brooklyn’s remaining schedule includes a matchup with Sacramento and meetings with Indiana and Washington.

Rotations like Thursday’s should become common for the Nets in the final month of the season. The potential gains this summer are worth it.

Fulham close to signing final deal – transfer ‘likely to happen’

PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi is keen to join Premier League side Fulham in the summer.

is according to eindhovens dagbladWho covers the latest on Fulham’s ongoing attempts to sign a striker.

Marco Silva’s team has been chasing the 23-year-old player for a long time. They tried to sign him last summer and even in the winter market, but PSV rejected his approach.

In January, PSV general manager Marcel Brands said The London club offered €25m for the American.

Last month, PSV technical director ernie stewart said Fulham returned with an improved bid at the end of the winter market. However, the Dutch club rejected this due to lack of sufficient time to find a suitable replacement.

Fulham did not release Pepi

The English club have no plans to end their pursuit of Pepi and will make a fresh attempt to sign him in the summer.

On 13 February, Game Witness broadcast news Fulham have made it clear they are ready to make a big move.

ED will now look into that and cover the latest. According to the newspaper it’s peppy ‘I’m keen to join Fulham and it’s likely to happen’That means this time the transfer will happen.

The Premier League team has been close to concluding a deal with PSV for several weeks. However, both the clubs are still not able to know the final amount for the transfer of the player.

Pepi hasn’t completed his medical with Fulham, and until then, ED warns ‘The threat is linked to PSV’. In other words, if the American suffers a serious setback, the Dutch club could risk losing a fee close to €40m, which could prevent him from changing clubs.

Our opinion: Fulham’s action makes immediate sense

Marco Silva now has Raul Jimenez, Rodrigo Muniz and 18-year-old Jonah Cusi-Assare as three strikers.

Kusi-Asare and Muniz have played 103 and 666 minutes respectively this season. The Brazilian has struggled with injuries, which have limited his minutes and affected his form.

Jimenez, who will turn 35 in May, has been leading Fulham’s attack but his contract expires in June.

Therefore, it makes sense for Fulham to continue working on the Pepi operation before the transfer window opens again.

The PSV player is represented by SXI Agents, and is by far their most valuable client.

How Victor Wembanyama survived ‘close to the toughest game of my life’.

Victor Wembanyama has done some incredible things in his short NBA career, but his latest accomplishment against the Los Angeles Clippers may be his toughest yet. On Friday night, the San Antonio Spurs made a miraculous 25-point comeback to defeat the Clippers 116-112, but the victory clearly pushed the young superstar to his absolute limits.

After the game, Vembanyama was not shy about the effect the competition had on his body. “I was going to pass out right from the first quarter. …This was close to being the toughest game of my life. It probably didn’t feel like it, we played a very rough game yesterday against the most physical team in the league.”

Despite exhaustion, Victor Vembanyama managed to dominate in limited action. The French sensation recorded 27 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in just 22 minutes of play. He was clinical from the floor, making 11 of 21 shots overall and missing four of his nine attempts from beyond the arc. His rim protection in the closing minutes was the catalyst for the Spurs’ late surge, as he consistently converted shots and erased easy looks for Los Angeles.

The comeback was not a solo effort. Julian Champagnie stepped up with a huge 20-point performance, while De’Aaron Fox and Stephen Cassel provided the perimeter pressure needed to overcome the deficit. San Antonio trailed by nearly 25 points before their defense tightened up and Wembanyama took over on the interior.

By scoring a 38-point masterpiece against the Detroit Pistons just 24 hours ago, the 22-year-old big man is showing the world that he has the stamina to match his generational skill set. If this was the toughest game of his life, the rest of the league should be very concerned about what he does when he feels really fresh.

New rumor suggests Vikings are close to signing JJ McCarthy to 2026 contest

A new rumor suggests that the Minnesota Vikings may be close to signing competition JJ McCarthy for the 2026 NFL season.

After former first-round pick McCarthy disappointed in his second season in Minnesota, reports quickly emerged after the season ended that the organization intended to bring in a veteran QB to serve as potential competition for the 23-year-old in training camp this summer. Well, that player may be signed soon.

In a new report from SNY’s Connor Hughes, an NFL insider claims the New York Jets are interested in soon-to-be-released two-time Pro Bowler Kyler Murray. Still, despite being a top target for a QB-needy team, Hughes revealed, “However, the strong belief from multiple sources is that he will sign with the Vikings.”

Kyler Murray stats (2025): 2-3 record, 962 passing yards, 6 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 88.6 rating

The Arizona Cardinals informed Murray this week that they would waive him when the new league year officially begins next week.

When the Cardinals used the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Murray, there were hopes he could be the franchise quarterback they have been lacking for decades. After his first three seasons, it looked as if he would earn Pro Bowl honors in 2020 and 2021. But in the four seasons that followed, Murray regressed. Partly due to injuries. However, when he was on the field, he was still ineffective.

Still, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has developed a reputation as a QB guru, and it makes sense that Murray would want to go to Minnesota in hopes of returning to his Pro Bowl form. If the 28-year-old gets back to being the player he was in 2020 and 2021, the Vikings will be a serious Super Bowl contender next season.

‘Hooper’s dream,’ Chet Holmgren says after close win against Knicks

There’s something about the bright lights of Madison Square Garden that brings out the best in the NBA’s rising stars. For Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, Wednesday night was the perfect stage to show why he is a fundamental part of a championship contender.

In a back-and-forth battle leading up to the final possession, the Thunder defeated the New York Knicks 103–100. Holmgren was the focal point of the attack, finishing with 28 points and eight rebounds. He made 11 of 19 shots from the field and hit six crucial three-pointers, silencing the boisterous New York crowd every time the Knicks threatened to pull away.

After the game, Holmgren did not hide his excitement about performing in the world’s most famous arena. “Playing in the Garden is any hooper’s dream,” Holmgren said. “The juices were flowing, and we were ready to play”. His defensive presence was equally impressive, as he stopped multiple drives by Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns in the final minutes.

The win didn’t come easy, especially with Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein suffering minor injuries earlier in the evening in Oklahoma City. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 26 points and eight assists, providing the steady leadership needed to earn the win on a tough road. For the Knicks, Anthony-Towns led the way with 17 points, but late turnovers proved costly as the Thunder’s defense crumbled.

The Thunder remain on top of the Western Conference standings, and games like this prove they have the mental toughness to win in adverse environments. As Holmgren continues to develop into a two-way force, the rest of the league is beginning to realize that “Hooper’s dream” is becoming a reality in OKC.

Anthony Edwards moves ahead of Kobe Bryant at Epic Club, close to Michael Jordan

Anthony Edwards has become one of the NBA’s 10 best players, and that’s quite an accomplishment for someone who faced so much doubt as a prospect coming out of Georgia. Many thought he would be too distracted and not deeply in love with the game of basketball, but he proved that wrong almost immediately, and developed into a true superstar for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Tuesday night, Edwards did superstar things for the Timberwolves; He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including 10 straight at one point, to lead Minnesota to a 117–110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He finished the night with 41 points on 15-29 shooting, including 7-13 from beyond the arc, as he left the Grizzlies defense helpless.

In doing so, Edwards now there is more A 40-point game for a shooting guard before the age of 25 compared to Kobe Bryant, as noted by Real Apps on X. The Timberwolves star now has the second-most such games, and he is now behind Michael Jordan in that department.

This shows how explosive a scorer Edwards is and how he is the closest thing to Bryant or Jordan in today’s NBA. And the next task for him is to lead the Timberwolves to the promised land, just as Bryant and Jordan did for the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, respectively.

Anthony Edwards, Timberwolves are figuring it out

The Timberwolves know their intention this season is not to make it to the Western Conference Finals for the third consecutive year. They want to get over the hump, and if Edwards keeps up this level of play they have a good chance to do so.

Currently, the Timberwolves are in fourth place in the Western Conference standings, although they are within striking distance of third place. This may be more favorable to them, considering how they took care of business against the Lakers in last year’s playoffs (LA is currently in sixth place).

Nikola Jokic continues to rewrite the NBA record books at a pace that truly feels illegal. During the Denver Nuggets’ stunning 128-125 win over the Utah Jazz on Monday night, the Serbian center officially tied the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark, and he did it in almost halftime.

Entering the contest at the Delta Center, Jokic was just one game shy of breaking the record for most games with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in NBA history. After a hard-fought 36 minutes on the floor, he walked away with exactly 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. This performance is the 322nd 20/10/5 game of his career, which brings him level with the captain.

The most astonishing part of this achievement is not just the output, but also the efficiency. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar needed 1,560 games to set that mark. Jokic has reached this peak in only 792 games. While Jamal Murray made headlines on the night with a big 45-point explosion, including eight triples and the go-ahead free throw, Jokic’s steady hand kept the Nuggets afloat as they held off a late Jazz rally.

Despite the depleted roster, Utah didn’t make it easy. Keyonte George exploded for 36 points and nearly forced overtime, but Jokic remained composed under pressure. Despite five fouls late in the fourth quarter, he managed to secure the board and hit two clutch free throws with six seconds remaining to seal the win.

Denver has relied heavily on its superstars this season and Jokic has not disappointed. He currently leads the league in rebounds and assists, looking like the favorite for another MVP trophy. Now with the record tied, all eyes are on Thursday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. If history is any indication, Jokic won’t be tied down for long.
