NBA conspiracy revealed after shocking commercial aired accidentally

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons are going to Game 7 on Sunday. That was made sure after they got a refreshed Jalen Duren to help the top-seeded Pistons to a 115-94 win in Game 6 on Friday night.

But do the NBA and its broadcast partner ABC already know how Game 7 will be played? ABC accidentally aired an ad promoting the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. New York Knicks Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday morning:

Good Morning America on ABC: It was just like any other day during NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 1, Cavaliers at NY Knicks.

Of course, the Pistons’ win on Friday night ensured that a Game 7 would be needed to decide this series. But does the NBA already know which way to go?

Is this another NBA conspiracy?

Of course, we’re just kidding (probably). The NBA has had all kinds of conspiracy theories floating around the league over the past few years. The first and most famous of these conspiracies was the ‘Frozen Envelope’ conspiracy in the 1985 draft lottery, to ensure that Commissioner David Stern would draw the frozen Knicks envelope to secure top pick Patrick Ewing for them. The next big theory was Michael Jordan’s ‘gambling suspension’ theory which led to his mini-retirement for 18 months in the mid-90s. The idea was that the NBA wanted to avoid a major scandal due to MJ’s alleged ties to gambling, causing him to sit out for a while, citing ‘retirement’ to pursue a baseball career.

As for this latest tidbit, many would suggest the league would prefer to pursue notable superstars like James Harden and Donovan Mitchell in the ECF rather than the still-under-appreciated star Cade Cunningham and his cast of characters in the Motor City.

Others will say the league would love to have home court advantage in New York – home of the NBA’s main offices, and the game’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

However, most likely this is a case of the NBA and ABC prepping the Cavs/Knicks commercial spot for Saturday in case the Cavaliers eliminated the Pistons in Game 6 last night. Someone forgot to tell the traffic department/advertising sales team at ABC this morning, and a new conspiracy was born.

San Francisco 49ers GM provides definitive answer on substation conspiracy theory

The San Francisco 49ers have been troubled by injuries over the years, always losing many of their top players and reserves to soft-tissue injuries and other issues. This led to a conspiracy theory regarding a nearby electrical substation and resulted in an investigation by the team.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, 49ers general manager John Lynch said the franchise had paid for an independent investigation of the conspiracy theory. The process included hiring a scientist with “over 45 years of experience studying electromagnetic fields and their effects” to determine whether the theory had any merit.

“”It was basically a huge burger. We are safe at work. …It’s a normal place to work. This is a normal gym. We’re safe, we’re healthy, and we feel really good about it.

The team allowed the scientist, whose identity was not disclosed, to go through the entire facility using “lab-grade equipment” to obtain electromagnetic output readings around any areas occupied by players.

The scientist’s readings showed that the level was 400 times below the limit of “unsafe working environment” for a person. Additionally, it was determined that the level of exposure at team headquarters was “typical” of what you would find in the workplace or a gym. In fact, according to the investigation, players may be getting higher exposure levels from microwave ovens or vacuum cleaners at home.

Fans and online skeptics weren’t the only ones questioning the team over the potential risks of being so close to a Silicon Valley Power Mission substation. All-Pro tight end George Kittle and fullback Kyle Juszczyk heard about the conspiracy theory with their colleagues and inquired with the team about the potential risks.

With that theory scientifically debunked, the likely reason for the high rate of injuries for the team is more likely to be the number of playoff games competed in under Kyle Shanahan and his practice style. The 49ers will continue to try and find ways to preserve the health of their players, but it’s safe to assume there will still be jokes and perhaps more conviction in the Substation conspiracy if another star player gets hurt.

Marc Stein gives sly nod to Jayson Tatum’s injury comeback ‘conspiracy theory’

It looks like the Boston Celtics are on the verge of seeing Jayson Tatum return after suffering a setback during last year’s playoffs.

According to The Stein Report on Substack, Marc Stein, a veteran basketball writer, believes in a “conspiracy theory” as to when and why Tatum will return. Basically, Tatum would like to return to the Celtics’ games on NBC.

“PPS – Boston has games March 10 (at San Antonio) and March 22 (home game against Minnesota) on NBC. If you buy the conspiracy theory that Jayson Tatum wants to make his comeback from an Achilles tear the network is running extended coverage behind the scenes of his rehab.”

However, media personality Bill Simmons believes Tatum will return much earlier on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

Tatum suffered an Achilles injury during the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the New York Knicks last May. A series in which the Celtics lost in six games.

Tatum finished last season averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

Currently, the Celtics have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at 40–20. At the same time, they have won eight of their last ten matches.

Tatum won an NBA championship with Boston in 2024. He is also a 6-time NBA All-Star and was the 2023 NBA All-Star Game MVP.

Additionally, he has won two Olympic gold medals with Team USA, in Tokyo in 2020 and Paris in 2024.

Tatum has been with Boston since the 2017–18 NBA season as the third overall pick out of Duke.
