Fighting for control of the series

The Montreal Canadiens (6-4) will take on the Buffalo Sabers (5-4) in Game 4 of their second-round series on Tuesday, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The Habs will have a chance to clinch the series with a win, although a third consecutive major league win will be difficult.

While the Sabers won Game 1 after coming from behind significantly, the Canadiens were clearly the better team in Game 2 and Game 3, and outscored the Sabers 11–3 in that span.

Sunday’s game, in particular, was one of the Habs’ most impressive performances, as both the first line and depth players provided vital attacking play. It was the epitome of a complete team effort, and a sign that this very young team is arguably peaking at the right time.

Beyond the skaters’ play, netminder Jacob Dobbs has been excellent, and has managed to improve most of his statistics compared to the regular season. He has become the epitome of consistency for the Canadiens, and although some out-of-town analysts have suggested he may want to tone down the emotional aspect of his playing style, this would weaken not only the player, but the team.

Dobbs is heavily invested in every game and that’s the way he likes it.

And you can’t argue with the results.

Another storyline worth monitoring in Game 4 was the increase in post-whistle violence from Game 3. The Sabers got the ball rolling when Beck Malensteen ran down Dobbs, while Arbor Czekaj responded with an ugly punch straight to the chin of Sam Carrick at the final whistle.

Both players were fined for their actions, which if we’re being honest won’t change a thing going forward. Another surge in fraud is expected on Tuesday.

Possible Lineup Changes

Head coach Martin Saint-Louis rarely changes his lineup after wins, and in the playoffs he keeps his cards incredibly close to his chest. With that in mind, any changes to the lineup will need to be confirmed after both teams take the ice for pre-game warm-ups.

Montreal Canadiens Projected Lineup

Cole Coffield – Nick Suzuki – Juraj Slafkowski

Alex Newhook – Jake Evans – Ivan Demidov

Alexandre Texier – Philippe Danault – Josh Anderson

Zachary Bolduc – Kirby Dach – Joe Veleno

Mike Matheson – Alexandre Carrier

Lane Hutson – Noah Dobson

Arbor Zekaj – Caden Guhle

Buffalo Sabers Projected Lineup

Jason Zucker – Ryan McLeod – Jack Quinn

The owner of the Baltimore Ravens took control this weekend and drafted a player

The 2026 NFL Draft tipped off on Saturday, and by many accounts, the Baltimore Ravens once again had a great weekend. Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta has been the team’s final decision-maker in terms of signings, trades and team draft prospects since 2019. This was his eighth time presiding over the draft.

While DeCosta is usually in full control of the Ravens’ front office, there was a change at the top for a brief moment during the three-day draft event.

According to DeCosta, when the Ravens were selecting Clemson running back Adam Randall with the 174th overall pick in the fifth round, that selection was actually made by team owner Steve Bisciotti. This was the first time since becoming the team owner in 2001 that he selected a player.

“When we were in Florida, Steve was begging for a draft pick, and he’s the owner of the team,” DeCosta said via the team’s website. “I said, ‘Yes, Steve, of course you can have draft picks.’ So we decided on our final fifth-round pick. He did his research and studied tapes, talked to people. He has a really good relationship with the head coach of Clemson.

The Ravens selected a total of 11 players over draft weekend, so it’s only fitting that the man who owns the team gets some say in Baltimore’s future. Even though it was very unnatural.

Randall now joins a Baltimore depth chart that includes Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, 2024 fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali and UDFA signee Donte McMillan. He faces an uphill climb, but being the owner’s hand-picked choice won’t hurt his chances of cracking the team’s final 53-man roster at the cutdown date.

Rangers’ asking price ‘key factor’ in Ibrox exit – Rohl’s side in control

Danny Rohl could be without Rangers’ Youssef Chermiti next season as PSV Eindhoven look to lure him away from Ibrox.

The striker graduated from Sporting’s youth system and left them for Everton in 2023. He played 295 minutes in 24 matches over two seasons with the Premier League team.

That didn’t stop Rangers from bringing him to Ibrox for £8million [€9.2m] In September, when Rohl’s predecessor, Martin Russell, was in charge.

The striker has been playing regularly for Rangers and has been showcasing his qualities this season.

His Scottish Premiership statistics are as follows:

  • Appearances: 23
  • Start: 14
  • Total minutes: 1,388
  • Minutes per game: 60
  • Target: 9
  • Help: 2

His performance on behalf of Rohl did not go unnoticed in the winter market. In January, Sports Witness broadcast news Fenerbahçe offered, but the deal never took shape.

Club maintains interest in Rangers man

PSV Eindhoven have now stepped forward to attempt to sign Youssef Chermiti in the summer window.

is according to eindhovens dagbladThe local newspaper of the Dutch club, covering the latest.

The Eredivisie side are pursuing the Rangers player along with other unnamed clubs. ED reports PSV discovered or were offered a number of players in the last window.

The 21-year-old was on their agenda in January and PSV will likely continue to keep an eye on him until the next window. Feyenoord also have him on their radar for 2025.

At the moment, the Dutch club do not have much interest in the Rangers player, which means signing him is not their priority.

The Portugal U21 international’s stance on a potential summer transfer to PSV has not been made clear in the report. Should he decide to leave Ibrox after this season, Rangers will have a decision to make.

ED says Rangers’ fee demand is a ‘crucial factor’ if Chermiti pushes for transfer. There is no mention of a figure, but it would certainly be in the double digits, meaning €10 million or more.

Contract, price and agent information

Youssef Charmiti’s contract at Ibrox will expire in 2030 transfer market He is worth €9 million

Rui Hachimura demands control after LA beats Warriors, Kings

LOS ANGELES – During one of Marcus Smart’s first media sessions as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers at the beginning of the season, he revealed a saying he has for every game. That is, ‘the toughest team sets the rules.’ This essentially means that the more physical team dictates which way the game will go. The Lakers haven’t always done a good job of following that quote, but Rui Hachimura believes they have gotten better in recent games.

The Lakers dominated from start to finish in consecutive wins against the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, respectively. A big part of those wins depended on the Lakers coming out on top early and asserting their will in terms of physicality. This includes playing tough defense, diving after loose balls, hitting hard on the glass and other little things that don’t always show up with statistics.

“I think when we did that in the game today [against the Kings]game [against the Warriors]I think we have created the atmosphere. That’s why we were able to control the whole game,” Hachimura said after the win against the Kings. “So I think things like that, we have to keep doing it. I think sometimes we do it and then we stop doing it. So we just have to keep doing it. We’ve got to make those plays and those little things. We have to keep building.”

Hachimura returned to the Lakers’ lineup against the Kings after a brief two-game absence due to illness. His game was somewhat solid, finishing with eight points while shooting 2-4 from the 3-point line in a little over 22 minutes.

He has been coming off the bench since returning from a calf injury in mid-January. Hachimura has appeared in 48 games, including 31 starts, averaging a little over 29 minutes per game. He averaged 11.7 points and 3.4 rebounds with splits of 50.1 percent shooting from the field, 44.1 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 74.5 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

But the Lakers’ overall toughness and physicality starts with smarts. He often sets the tone on the defensive end of the court, and is a big reason why head coach JJ Redick has opted to stick with Smart in the starting lineup following Hachimura’s return.

After the win against the Kings, Redick made sure to single out Smart for his impact on the game.

“I told the team afterward, I thought Smart’s defense … completely blew us away at different points in the game,” Redick said. “He finished with five steals, but he’s diving down the floor for loose balls. He’s starting the transition game for us. He switches to the five, sets him up perfectly. … He was another igniter for us.”
